Kain

The collector's edition gives you an wind-up Kain minion. Does that mean Kain is going to be a Dragoon you encounter in Heavensward? I'm going to assume it does.

Not necessarily, I mean we have Cait Sith Minions for the Pre-order peoples and there's no Cait Sith.

She'll pop up eventually..look at XI, whole expansion and even 'final story' revolving around her and Atomos, we got Alexander and Atomos in XIV already it's only a matter of time. Having a Wind Up Kain, a VERY SPECIFIC character to the franchise is a lot more telling than Cait Sith. Look at Warrior of Light, since that's what we are it made sense..but also he may pop up in World of Darkness.

Probably have a crossover event like Lightning except with Kain.

I figure it's a minion trap like Wind-up Minfilia and Wind-up Thancred. You get those and then you need to visit the cash shop to finish the set.
InB4 Wind-up Cecil/Rosa/Rydia in cash shop (I left out Edge because no one likes him)

I-I like Edge! More in the after years... Better looking sprite. As much as I hate the cash shop though... I'd buy a ff4 set...

Well collectors addition add ons are like buying this bus from a cash shop. There is no way to get it unless you fork out some cash.

Recall in the Heavensward teaser trailer we've been given so far Derplander spots a DRG standing atop one of Ihhgard's spires in the trademark Kain pose. It may be that there is a DRG in Ishgard called Kain as a fanservice reference (rather than being at the actual Kain from FFIV).

I don't like a lot of fanservice and stuff... But I do hope we get some Kain. I'm too much of a FFIV fan...

As much as I would like to see Kain, I'd like to see Ricard make an appearance first. He is the first Dragoon, after all.

True... But Kain is prettier. I say Ricard a bigger fanservice cameo and Kain a smaller one for max fanservice.
(I technically don't want either, but let's face it we'll get something anyway)

Kain will be my permanent minion, there is a reason I'm a Dragoon :)

I'm not a dragoon because of Kain , i get annoyed when i see a Kain or a Highwind. I'm a dragoon because i like the lore and story behind the class AND fun to play :P

I know I read this somewhere but the idea of having random FF characters make an appearance ain't that far-fetched. Although I do recall Yoshida (or someone else?) said that in order for that to happen, that character need to meet two criteria.

1. They have to be canonically alive. So anyone that is dead (ei: Aerith, Sephiroth,etc) cannot make an appearance. Any characters where we don't know if they are alive or not (Spoilers reasons, I guess? Or something)

2. They have to have a reason as to why they are here, and the means of getting here.

Number 2 is up to the devs and they can just BS it, I guess. But I suppose it can be more complicated than that.

So Kain being in the game could be a thing. He just needs a reason, I guess.

I'm sure that's what they said anyways. I recall reading that on a QA looonng time ago.

If we could shoehorn in Lightning 3 times more than she ever needed to, anything is possible!

Maybe his fans (like me) like his type of character. He also sees his flaws and beats himself up over it, and to be fair, Cecil and Rosa were mean being all lovely dovey right in front of him when they knew he was in love with her. Don't get me wrong though I do like Cecil and Rosa and wouldn't want Kain with her. And you know some people are more weakminded than others, he was pretty far down knoeing he'd never get Rosa, kingdom falling and starting to hate his only best friend. I feel sorry for the guy really.

But I do hate all the Highwinds and Kains I see... and again keep him to FFIV and Dissidia we don't need him in XIV really.

Kain's my waifu, but I do know someone who would probably resub for a Rydia minion.

I would like to add that I always facepalm whenever I see yet another Kain or Highwind. (Or Cloud, Tiffa, Yuffie or Sephiroth)
