How do Tarot cards scream time mage?

Astrology & Time/Gravity are not the same.
Time Mage may still yet come in the distant future.
Well, the first QQ thread didn't take long.
Theya re not the same, no rename.
It's called Astrologian. The developers decided it will be call Astrologian. Deal with it.
Nope, I like the name they gave it.

I honestly can't see the similarity, sorry. It seems, to me anyway, that Astrologian is more like a Gambler class. The cards you use wont be connected with time, but luck. They're both very different jobs.
pls GET OUT.
Doesnt look like a Time Mage, does not use time magic, has an astrologian themed weapon...
But sure, rename it Time mage because reasons.
Unless you're trying to reference the theory of relativity, theoretical physics, and the theory of time dilation based on astrological bodys warping time and space due to gravity, I hope you're joking OP. Cause nothing about this says Time Mage.
Astrologian uses Celestial magic; more commonly associated with superstitions, mythology, fortune telling; the positioning of constellations in certain arrangements influencing life events...
So yes, more oriented to luck rather than time.

Translation wise there are already astrologians in Coerthas. They are already in the game. To change the name of the class would require changing the translation for the already existing pieces as well. And then the Observatorium would become .. the Chronotorium?
We know very little about how Astrologian even operates mechanically outside of a vague card structure. Thinking you have a good idea of how it may or may not operate doesn't warrant petitions for name changes. Wait until we actually have some concrete info about the class instead of making assumptions based on conjecture. Damn.

I like the name they have.
"Time mage" is hella boring compared to Astrologian.
I had a feeling someone would ask for this. One, if you played FFT (and you should have) you would know that an Astrologist is what a time mage wishes it could be. Also if you notice Ishgard already has astrologists it actually fits into the pre-existing lore. As for my personal opinion, I think you are crazy and should have your head checked if you think Time mage is a better name :)
Petition to stop stupid petition that never work anyway.
Also to make a simple quote
Juliet:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

in all honesty Time mage and the way this class is said to act are nothing alike if your going to compare this to a exciting job
lady luck, geomancer or BLUE mage (ff.x-2) to name a few, but time mage? no
lol, I'll jump on the NO bandwagon too.
I felt kinda off when I first hopped on the forum seeing everyone be happy and excited with the class reveals.
Then I saw this thread and knew there was balance in the universe.
nay dood ~!
For reference, I hopped onto the forum, saw this thread title and looked into the job expecting it to be Time magey. It really isn't, and I went into the thread looking for it. I'll grant you that the Time Mage is a mage with control over time AND space, but this Job seems less about manipulating space and more about using it's predictions to my benefit.
No. No thank you.
I was trying to find a good thread to post this in, and I decided on this one because at least one person seems to be confused about the job's origins.
I think it's worth noting that the Japanese names for these two new jobs (Astrologian and Machinist) are the same as the two jobs from Final Fantasy Tactics (for Orran Durai and Mustadio Bunansa). The only change is that the final character for Astrologian was changed from 士 to 師 to match the naming convention for XIV; 士 is for fighters and 師 is for casters, but they have the same pronunciation and similar meanings. Alternatively, because 占星術師 is the actual Japanese word for an astrologer, and 占星術士 is not.
Machinist = 機工士
Astrologian = 占星術師
Wow, we get a whole bunch of new stuff and people still complain on the forums.
Show me one thing that makes this a Time Mage.
If anything, it's more akin to the Orator class from FF:T.
Astrologian is perfect, acceptable and there's zero reason to want to change it, other than for simple sake of being stupid about it
This is closer to a Red Mage.
Wow already we have this. We know very little about the job already and still people complaining. No, please dont change the name.
If they could just call it "Astrologist" I'd be happier, because Astrologian is just really weird to say.
