Probably both. Like the mages that can use both 2 handed staves or 1 handed wands and shield. Thats why the guild has both pistols and rifles.

Well, I guess none of us guessed the gunner would be a pet class. >w>

Gun job utilizes a robotic turret buddy/pet. Wields guns. Has other little devices/gadgets.

Four years. It took four years. They've finally given us our guns.


I'm so happy you guys. I'm so happy.

I'm just glad it's not a healer. Still have my fingers crossed for something like Rift's Chloromancer.

Watch its turrets work like the ones from Borderlands. Meaning expect them to buff the party, help with DPS, and possibly debuff the enemies.

Would be interesting if the "attachments" augmented the effects of the gun such as "spread attack" "single target focus" and "debuffs" much like the two poisons of NIN except more involved than just effecting two abilities.

There weren't details beyond the base stuff, but the speculation is certainly possible. Maybe even the turret machine pets acting in such a way as well. Intriguing.

I agree with those that say this sounds vaguely like puppetmaster, particularly if you can add upgrades/attachments to your weapon and pet. I'm very much looking forward to this one.

They basically split the COR job from FFXI between Machinist and Astrologist. The machinist having the gun, and Astro having the cards. Still, Machinist is very similar to Pupeteer, too.

Just to clarify, the attachments are ability oriented and apply to gun.

So they are no more classes in the games. That's it. Mechanist doesn't evolve off of musketeer.
