New playable race?

To be perfectly honest I don't really like any current races. I picked a hyur because there wasn't anything else that called to me. Are they going to introduce any other races in the future?

Soon! Expect the big reveal to happen in a few days, or maybe a few months at most.

If I remember correctly, I believe they already confirm that new race will be introduce in 3.0. (it Yugiri's race).

Would love to play one of the beast tribe races. Two things: all the En- abilities, & goblin bomb toss!

Plus the epic amount of "heavy" attacks they can hit you with.

Oddly enough, I seem to be fine with the races already available to player characters, as none of the beastmen tribes really scream to me "THIS WOULD BE AWESOME AS A PLAYER CHARACTER". Though I am curious as to what, exactly, IS Yugiri.

I think they said Yugiri would reveal her face in 2.5 and after that her race will become playable. How soon, I do not know...

I however am hoping for males of Yugiri's race to be more slender than other races males. I want to see a race other than Lalafels that's androgynous. I'm holding off my 8th character slot to make a Yugiri race character.

Imo, current Yugiri is a place holder, since she's obviously just a reskinned miqo'te and we'll get the "real" Yugiri in 2.5.... or SE is going to be lazy about it and the new race will be a reskinned Miqo'te.

Work only from behind and only if the target is mounted, or it would be too much OP

Not that I care one way or another, but considering she is already "In disguise" the tail could be a "disguise" too.

It's pretty apparent Yugiri is a lizard-like race if you look at her tail. And Yugiri isn't just a reskinned Miqote, her ears are totally different.

Except that her "ears" are only the outline of a hood, rather easy to remove the miqo'te triangle ears, and make a hood with different "ears"

Yugiri isn't anything yet, she has no character model in the dats she's just a suit of mesh/cloth armor with a tail sticking out right now. What she will be in the future no one really knows but Yoshi...

There was a cosplay contest at the Las Vegas show and one person entered as Yugiri. People kept asking "What's under the hood!?" and while on stage the PR guy there (Forgot his name ._.; ) said, "Yoshi, stop yelling 'New race!'". I'm sure there's a video of it somewhere.

Yeah, Yugiri is a member of the new player race. lol

Personally I'm hoping for something original and not one of the races from any of the Tactics games. I'll be pretty disappointed if it ends up being a Tactics race (Viera included).

Well part of the 2.4 story had the implication that Shiva was the mother of half-dragons.

She sleeped with a dragon (and became the first heretic because of this), but there was no info that she got pregnant from a dragon.

The new race will just wind up being a Hyur with animal accessories like the Miqo'te (remove their ears and tails and what do you get?). Nothing new, really.

Well, with different emotes and slightly different facial structures. The females at least also skew a little shorter than the Hyur. I mean, shy of it being something like the Bangaa, which I imagine would be a nightmare to armour for (still, bangaa for 3.0, anybody? Just me?) most of them would be human plus. Of the the races we currently have, only lalas and roe males can be considered significantly different from humans, and then barely. I suspect it's just an easier design to work with.

Easier just reads as lazier to me, unfortunately (of course, Yoshi-P's team can't be faulted for this) :/
SE had the chance to introduce a new race that could be more beastly (think Charr or something from GW2), but instead what we were teased with may just wind up being another Hyur+ :<
-Though if her face winds up being less human and more... interesting, then I'll eat my gingerbread hat.

Which is why I said implication. By sleeping with dragons there is this implication that she might have gotten pregnant. Combine that with Yugiri's scaled tail and what could be horns and you have a fairly decent argument for a race of half-dragons descended from Shiva.

But do we know who her baby daddy is?

Was hoping for something more draconic or lizardy, not just humans with weird scales, horns, and a tail plastered on them.

They have to make the girls look cute, humans with dragon horns, tails and some scales.

Maybe if there are facial options to make them look more dragon and less human I'd be happy. Gotta wait til Heavensward is out I guess.

Considering it was hinted to Ishgardians who had dragon blood in them, it was to be expected, but I do agree that they should have looked more draconic.

Looks like they played it safe on the new race. Doesn't look too bad imo
