Hi guys,
I'm pretty new to the game (still in my first month) but have decided to stick with my War and get it totally pumped up before I consider secondary classes (which should be in time for the new Spring ones anyway!).
After checking out a couple of videos (now that I'm getting to the point of really gearing) I've been looking at the HQ Ruby Gear. Unfortunately, even the best crafter in my FC can't craft the Ruby stuff.
Just wondering how did you guys go about getting this stuff, or did you grind all the way to make it yourself and such... I've noticed all the resources on the market place and in Cerb the materia should cost around 340k to fill, and cost of materials doesn't seem so bad either.

I would personally wait on the HQ acc. (right hand side). Due to 2.5 being right around the corner and the introduction of i110 crafted for left side, right side is def up for its upgrade in which grinding on your own would be the best bet because breaking the back would run you at least 500k-1mil not even including the materia in which (if you're serious about gearing) will also run about 1-1.5mil pending your success at melding.
Gearing now I would aim for the ScOB gear as it is proven to suffice through to T13 already which will yield you the best gear at least until Expansion. (undoubtedly they will add a i130 primal acc, or wepaon in due time before expansion)
But yeah try t6-t9 right now for gearing
I currently wear that with a mixture of poetics gear with a relic and I've progressed p3 t13 so its all good lol -

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll get to work on Goldsmithing ASAP. I was hoping to get Det III rather than Det IV since it's ridiculously cheaper, but as you say, serious about gearing...
I'm currently on ilvl98 saving up for my first Ironworks piece (Chest) and pretty much Noct/Gloam in every slot minus one ring. Haven't tried any of the turns yet but my FC is planning on training me up tonight with some baby runs.
Thanks a lot! I think my obsession with trying to get a bit of STR in my gear and not just vit will have to wait :P -

yeah, as much as ruby set is appealing, it's not a good idea to get it now. People are foreseeing 2.5 to come really soon (like, end of December), and should bring i110 accessories for crafters, which will pulverize any accessory available now for tanks (and progression groups). They are likely to cost a hell lot though, so yeah, keep your money safe and pray for the crafters to put decent prices this time.

12-19-2014, 11:11 PMDonjoiLvl 110-115 only suffices for T13 with very skilled groups. Most other people will probably need an amount of FCoB gear to handle the DPS and HP checks later on in the Coil. It is also worth noting that I'm pretty sure there were no clears in the first 1-3 weeks that didn't involve use of crafted i90 accessories. I'd personally wager that the feats would have been literally impossible without them.Quote:

Ruby set is best for MT and OT for turns 10-12. 13 I'm going full VIT but our WAR OT is still using Ruby.
Nothing really hits that hard in T10-12 that you wont have a big CD for. WAR always had IB ready which is generally enough and if not 3 other CDs. Until T13 the biggest hit I take is phase 2 Rip so I just stack CDs. (Rip+Auto at the same time) IB is enough for Head and Revelation. -

I'm using a mix right now. I went with a budget meld of Accur4>Vit4>Vit4>Det3>Det3 and I did my neck and ear. I'm sitting missing Det3 in my neck (18 meld attempts >.<), but it has cost me roughly 1.8 mil so far, and that was with providing mostly NQ mats to my buddy to craft the accessories for me.
I use Shiva bracelet of slaying for 10 and 11, and HA wrist for 12 right now (hard enrage @1% last night ggggrrrrgrgrgrrrr!!!) However, I will agree with the sentiment that waiting might be best. I spent the money last week because I am trying to help my group push content, if we were sailing on DPS and just having mechanical issues I would have stayed full VIT. -

Thanks everybody, lovely tips. I'll hold off for now as I've only got 2m, and no one in my FC can craft it anyway. I'll stay in the process of filling up with Ironworks for now.
@Donjo Thanks for that! Very helpful. My FC are full-vit supporters and there's not much leeway on that, which I have no major qualms with. I'm working on getting it back up to scratch after a few comments, but now that I've finally got an Ironworks chest I can think about replacing some of my str accessory slots. Seems there's a lot to learn and I'm working out my combos, rather than plugging buffs aimlessly (which is fine for most of the easier content).
I haven't really thought about T13 or dreadwyrm gear or any form of rolling and choosing stats for weapons and what not. My FC is currently at T8 and they're comfortable doing that while the whole team progresses - I'm definitely in no dire rush if they want to work at that pace as well. T13 sounds like a while away.
Few things to ponder over. -

This is a topic that I'm interested in as well. I've been thinking of investing in a new 110 acc when it comes out and since my budget is so limited (2.6 mil :() I'll probably only afford one or two sets, max.

This has been weighing heavily on me recently, as I'd love to have a nicely melded set of i110 accessories. I currently am using a set of ruby accessories on my War and it works out quite wonderfully, however upon the release of i110 accessories the following should be considered.*
Throughout each item level increase, the stat caps of each piece increase fairly linearly, however materia stats are static. There will reach a theoretical point where you cannot max meld a single stat via current materia, since each materia gives only a set amount.* -

For instance, ruby works wonders on War with its 13 strength and 16 skill speed. Melding two vit fours adds the 15 vitality cap, which then leaves room for accuracy and determination. The beautiful part about these accessories is capping vit and strength main stats, while adding 80 skill speed which comes in very handy for a warrior. With the *introduction of i110 crafted gear, the stats will be as follows:
Vitality - 21
Strength - 18
Accuracy, crit, skill speed - 19
Determination - 13
So, given the items work the same as ruby and you get 18 strength with 19 skill speed, it will require two vit fours and an additional vit three to cap your vitality, leaving only two slots left to add accuracy and determination as you see fit. This will be impacted significantly if the accessories have an alternative secondary stat.* -

At this point it may be rational to consider a lower skill speed outside the ability to perform 9 skills in a berserk combo.*
The same holds true for vit accessories, as a crafted i110 ring would have say 21 vit, it would still require two strength fours and a strength three to cap stat, leaving still only two spare slots.*
Undoubtedly, the increased mainstays will well overpower the loss of minor secondary stats, however we may not be in our ideal sweetspot throughout the next patch.* -

Get a full set of topaz HQ accessories. Parry is amazing on warrior (it adds 16 automatically on each piece) and you meld str instead of vit materia (absurdly cheaper). The skill speed is alright, but your last on priority for getting TP in fights so running out early doesn't do you any favors. The main reason I love the topaz is because of the big parry boost, as it's your only defense (you can't block) and they have made the final content in such a way you will be tanking at some point on something every fight.

The SS is very important for WAR so you can get over 400 and fit in 9 hits during zerk. (390 is the minimum but a lot recommend 420)
You don't run out of TP because of SS you run out of TP because the fight is long. -

Three minutes on a dummy in Defiance and I'm at 800 TP still, out of Defiance I'm down to 400-500. Also, SS synergizes well with warrior because you'll have less down time on your wrath stacks.Quote:

I realised I never plan to do serious content (T9 and above) and would probably do Extreme primals on it so I won't need i110 accs after all. -
12-23-2014, 10:46 AMDonjoNow that the i130 Tier is out, the i90 accessories have gone from giving 65 STR at the cost of 30 VIT at max accessory level to giving the same STR at the cost of 60 VIT. For every i130 VIT accessory you trade for a i130 STR accessory, you're trading 23 STR for 27 VIT. It's generally inefficient to trade the stats in this particular manner because you're losing more in VIT than you're gaining in STR. Even in this tier, the i90 accessories end up giving more STR than lost VIT, so they're still the best option. Albeit, health checks later on have encouraged the mixing and matching of i130 VIT accessories and the melded i90.Quote:

This is where 99% of players will fall off. And by the time you do have all 10 pieces, the i110 crafted accessories will be out already giving much better stats.
The second thing, you can actually try this with i110 accessories. But no matter what combination you do, ie 3 vit acc + 2 str acc OR 2 VIT acc + 3 STR accessories, your stats will always be less than the penta melded i90 accessories.
Cheaper? Most definitely. Better? No, unless you have all 10 i130 pieces already.
