Please make the world more expansive.

The whole idea of having 3 zones with a city in each zone makes the game world seem tiny even though it's huge.

I would love to see more zones added in -between- the current zones so when you run from city to city you don't just see 2 environments but 3-5.

For limsa maybe have an island where the boat from limsa docks and another boat leaves to thanalan. (and vice versa)

This would make the world feel less structured and thrown together and more expansive and dynamic.

It would also help if these zones had lots of agro mobs making it difficult for jobs under rank 25 or 30 to get through them. It would help to spread the population out as well as create a sense of adventure and discovery when new players begin (ex. they cant just run to every city the first day).

Just add other than Coerthas and Mor Dhona the other places that noone ever heard about that you can get from NPCs. I believe this world is bigger than we can imagine.

I am in for a more dynamic world, even if I'm ok with what we have now, but I prefer the Dev team to do it by themselves, without any suggestion from us. Then when they have an idea we can argue about it.

From all the recent info, it seems they want to divide each zone into 3 regions, each with their own landmarks & style.

I don't know how they will accomplish this, but I think it will be a great improvement if they succeed.

5 regions have yet to be released, plus existing areas in the current regions.

That + the current area redesign should suffice for the time being.

addiction add on for the boat at LL, if the boat instance dont use to anything, why not make it so player can enter it freely w/o instance ?

One of my gripes with this game has always been the feeling that the world isn't as big as it could be. FFXI was massive!, not just in size but also in the varying regions that you walked through. I don't get the same feeling in FFXIV as I did with FFXI. I do hope this is something they're taking a hard look at.
Let's just say the size of the world doesn't feel Final Fantasy esc.

The Snow "mob" in Coerthas, are sad because there is no snow :/

Poor O'Ghomoro hedgemoles can't get to their home :(

Pretty darned sure things were already split up with the long hallways connecting smelling like streaming zones... hopefully they can pull of the "landmarks & style" though hopefully those pesky textures aren't loaded globally.

Smoke and mirrors, your not on the same map- There is not actually a huge body of water that connects Limsa to the other dock ( forgot the name) It fizzles off on the horizon then there's the dead of Cartesian space. That is why you load when you get on and then off... Then the cut scenes are there to make it kinda look like nothing happend /waves hand around like a jedi.

Then Again I could be totally misunderstanding you and your just talking about walking on boat before it leaves /shrug.

its 3 regions that have a city, and each of those regions having 5 zones + dozens of sub zones


maybe they shoulda put loading screens in between them all so people would be blinded into thinking the world is as big as it really is now and not be fooled by superficial numbers like they seem to be

Let them make the current ones have some some interesting visual and gameplay design in them before we start asking for new areas.

Well, it's been stated they're redesigning the zones to have 3 styles, themes or "feels" to them. So we can only wait for that for the time being.. But I feel like this will help blend the zones and give them some definition, or some distinctive memory we can share of each of the 3 parts.

Until then, hold tight and ... let them make something so we can have interesting and relevant topics on the front page..

its not so much the style but the size. i mean lets take Gridania > Ul'dah
You go through the brentbranch area which is like 3 or 4 small circles,
then theres a really long hall
then a few more circles
then your in the drybone area
theres a path
then your in the black brush area
theres a path

Like the areas around the camps feel -short-.

FFXI was like massive between cities. Like you'd have to go through 6 zones, and the zones were all bigger than all the small camp areas. The only thing that makes this game's trip between cities feel long is huge hallways or paths through essentially empty terrain. And even that doesn't make things feel like a journey.

I realize they are redesigning the zones but given that they have put camps in and all this stuff it sounds like they will have to leave the zones as they are and just change how they look. Otherwise why did they waste all that time sticking those lil camps everywhere and reshuffling mobs? I'm asking for -more- zones between the zones that are designed ffxi style and not massively pointless hallway zones.

Ya thats pretty much what I was saying black shroud for example has...

1. Camp Bent Branch and the surrounding sub aethers.
2. Camp Nine Ivies, and its surrounding sub aethers.
3. Camp Crimson Bark and its surrounding sub aethers.
4. Camp Emerald Moss and its surrounding sub aethers.
5. and then Gridania its self.

These 5 "regions/zones" are all connected by a long hallway, which tells me the hall way is a streaming zone, Then again I could be totally off it could be a design thing or a server load. (40,30/31) path walking toward (43,28) in the black shroud is one of the halls I was talking about. Possibly Unloading Camp Bent Branch area/zone and loading in Camp Nine Ivies area/zone

Even though the maps are huge part of the reason It doesn't feel that large is because all these look the same for the most part. (there are a few tidbits of uniqueness but not much) If they had major land marks/terrain differences / and it looked a bit different texture wise or geometry wise in each of these, everything wouldn't feel so Tiny... but again thats my personal opinion.

Edit: also I forgot to mention the dungeons areas in those zones such as the Tam-Tara Deepcroft etc..
