IF SS2 was meant to save time, why not reset CDs every new start?

If SS2 was meant to save time for raid setups, why not include a reset for CDs? I feel like simply resetting all CDs and keeping MP @ 100% before the party engages the boss would save more time. There may even feel longer downtime when everyone's buffs are up but the party still has to wait for CD resets or if the healers/bards need to wait for MP to max out.

That would make sense. Both what I think of your idea and why they don't do it.

Because it doesn't work that way. Someone at fan fest asked if Square could make CDs not kick in when switching classes and the reply was "We have that restriction for balance reasons." I don't think it would be that simple to make Stoneskin the only spell that makes the global CD instant. Besides, you'd still be going faster just making the spell AOE than to click on each person.

They could of made it as a trait to allow stoneskin to be cast outside of battle as AOE, but instead they made a new spell for it.

My response to the other thread.

Resetting cooldowns after a wipe would be an incredible Quality of Life improvement. There's little that is more frustrating than having to stand around for several minutes because something went wrong on the pull or shortly thereafter.

That be nice QoL thing if the code allows it.

It should reset all your CD when entering raid/dungeon - especially after waiting 30min+ for DF and swapped jobs before hitting commence.

iirc, the balance reason was because if you switched classes in open world and only for open world, then you would be able to spam certain CDs such as switch off with another player to kill a monster by spamming hallowed ground back and forth (this would be possible to kill an S rank monster with only 2 players). Also, I do not understand the latter statements. For example if your party wipes within 30 seconds but you spammed all your 120-300 second CDs, you'd have to wait for that longer and feel probably even more frustration not to screw up next time.

i have a feeling the reason they don't do it is because of testing. Testing something like that is arduous just to think about.
Think about it: you need to make absolutely sure that each an every permutation of death or failure results in the exact situation. And if you didn't know, Titan and Leviathan have slightly different lose conditions compared to other trials. You also need to test it with each and every combination of skills available in the game on each and every combination of classes in each dungeon, raid, and trial.
In addition, you have to have it handle differently for dungeons vs. trials, because if you reset all cooldowns on death, then people could just pull everything short of bosses to the entrance and just attrition then down. This isn't something to be flippantly dismissed either as it restricts dungeon design.
It's a lot of work to save 1-3 minutes. SS2 was added because casting SS was even eating up time during successful fights.

Qualify this. Trials and Raids are actually two separate things.
The primals, t9, t13 and maybe t5 on a technicality are all classified as "trials".
t1-8, 10-12, Gilgamesh, CT and ST are all "raids."
"Raids" follow the same basic mechanics as dungeons, just with larger party sizes. In general they all have trash mobs and closed off areas, and between one and five bosses (Gilgamesh is weird in that it's technically one boss but there's trash inbetween)
"Trials" have a single mob (not counting adds they spawn), spawns you in his arena, and there's no trash. It's also impossible to get locked out (which is why t5 doesn't technically count).
What you probably want is "Trials" to have this effect, which they could. With a lot of testing.
"Raids" cannot have this effect, because of the trash mobs and other mechanics that make it impractical.

IIRC there was a question about CD resets when full party wipe happens in some liveletter and if i dont remember wrong SE said they will look into it at somepoint, cannot 100% confirm this as i dont remember what LL it was asked.

It's funny because T4 and T5 are almost opposites. I kinda consider anything that, after a party wipe, warps you to the start of the instance/resets with a black screen, a trial, which is what T4 does. T5 is the only 'final' boss area where there is the option given to return. T12 as well, you cannot get locked out, as it is a Trial in both name and sequence (spoilers; you are up against a Primal).

Ah see I haven't been in t12 personally. Makes sense thematically and I was just assuming the same progression for SCOB.
So yeah, t9, 12, and 13 are all Trials.

Also now that I think about it this is correct too. See, this is what happens when your "trial" is just a sequence of trash mobs -_-

I'd be happy enough if they got rid of the full cooldown duration when i change jobs to enter my instance. Logging some trees and DF pops? Well.... 30 sec lockout on all abilities and all cooldowns at their full duration? Not sure how this hasn't been changed yet over a year after release.

What kind of ungodly advantage could anyone have by changing jobs and not having to wait 30 seconds to start acting with it?
