Bring Forced Spawn Notorious Monsters, and purchase spawn items with gear currency.

Just like it sounds.

Your War is all geared up, and you got extra poetics? Trade them to Herman, and he'll give you an item for a forced spawn monster to fight.

That monster has a chance to drop any number of weapons/armor that are not only glamour friendly, but with unique attributes.

Maybe a Shield that has added Magic Defense.
Or a Cane that allows Regen double potency, for half the duration.
Or an Axe that randomly activated bloodbath a % of the time.
A tank chest piece that has +10 Resistance to all elements.

I'm just throwing out spontaneous ideas, but comming from FFXI, and loving things like ZNM's and similar types, I think this would be a great addition.

People doing end game, and waiting for FCOB drops could use excess Poetics to spawn mobs for real world fights. While those specializing in a single class could do the same.

Or maybe your just a gambler, and would rather spend your poe for a chance at rare items than guaranteed gear.

Anyhow, the more diversity in gear selection the better, and the more things to do in game the better. Could have 4 man monsters, 8 man monsters, full alliance monsters. God I miss this kinda content.

I don't think they are ready to make gear with those kind of buffs, but I would like to see more gear with some of the stats that exist right now but are rarely ever used, like say a Gysahl Ring has heavy resistance. You never see those kind of stats on higher level gear. We could have more options if they used stuff like that to differentiate between stuff of the same level.

I'm just throwing out some examples. An Earring that increased cure potency by 2% would still have players seeking it out. However it's a more a cry for content and diversity in gear selection, than those listed drops.

I am totally down for that, anything to increase diversity. I think the answer right now is a no because they don't want to make it harder to balance difficulty, but you never know for the future, we could be seeing lots of changes to gameplay.

Me too man, me too. ZNMs was the most genius system ever made in an mmo, good old times!

I like the idea of using currency to fight a monster to get a better reward than the equivalent from just buying the gear with the same currency. If not horizontal progression, then maybe vertical with i125 stuff from the monster chest vs i120 stuff from currency - both upgradable to i130 but one starts out higher if you can beat the monster to obtain it.

e: Vanity gear would also be sweet, but I think that it would have to be a guaranteed drop for that to work. Maybe varying types of armor for the monster chests, each set being more rare than the next.

A neat idea. I'd like to see gear with varying job/class related ability buffs. Even cool vanity works.

FFXI had it's share of things wrong with it.. but force spawn NM's were entirely right. Anyone who ever hunted Gods in Sky or did Sea can appreciate how casual a thing forced spawn NM's were by comparison. No one could camp them (monopolize them).

Even Hunts, got monopolized to a point. On Gilgamesh, we had one LS serving the entire population of the server. And while SteakTheory handled it very well considering, it was still a monopoly. I heard on other servers it was much worse.

Essentially they have a system that could be tweaked for this in their treasure maps. They could even elaborate on the maps for something like this. Except I would want there to be more to it than just what it is.

yeah i like this idea, right now i'm at 1100 sol and i don't really want to use it on filler equipment or crafting items. but to get special equips that has potential effects on em won't really twerk the game balance if only this could happen :(

yeah yeah I know. The thing about FFxi was just the "usual let FFxi die you fanboy".

Thing is, there is no horizontal progression in FFxiv yet. So every tier is just coil + tomes. Every other content has to give lover reward or it will become the "end-all, be-all" way to go, and that's not what the devs want. So... nice idea, but not in 2.0-esque FFxiv

Trigger NMs or beefed up treasure maps would be awesome. I'm so tired of this instanced bullshit.

Please, please listen to this request. Give us pop nms, give us gear diversity, give us something to log in and fight and hope for drops. I cannot stand this weekly welfare cap tomes and look like everyone else's cookie cutter job. Please give us some diversity and some rare items.

Well call forced spawned NM, treasure maps in FFXIV. Ask SE to expand upon it.

The point is CHANCE.

You may not even get a drop that you want. You might be a tank and get a drop for a Caster. That's why you get friends, you get together, and you work it out. Maybe 8 people get a pop item, do the mob 8 times, and you octuple your chances.

Maybe ya work out a DKP system. And I wouldn't have any of the drops be game breaking. If the default gear is say item level 120 and coil gear is 130.. this gear might be 125.... and maybe have some unique attribute that could situationally make it better?

That's exactly why people would cry about it. Look at how many still cry about atmas. Just imagine being told your BiS piece is a rare drop from one of these NMs (even though BiS isn't needed for anything anyways).

Seriously, this is a no-brainer. One of the best systems to date, in my opinion, is the forced-spawn system. Make it tough and worthwhile for the winners. Make it hurt when you fail, like treasure maps. Lose the fight? Lose your pop-item. The people who cannot win at anything without an echo buff will cry, but they will have their Ironworks Gear to console them.

I'd love to see this happen. Honestly I'm sitting on 1500 Poetry because non of it in its current state is better than 110 crafted/pentamelded. At least give those players something to do while waiting for raid drops to finally go their way or while they wait for a static. The game in its current vertical progression state gives players zero incentive to log in more than once a week. The current model bothers me very greatly.

To be fully honest, the instant gratification players are the reason why the game is so easy and boring right now, come on SE! We need more challenges in this game!

Bring back the no pain no gain old school way to go :P please, deliver us a forced-spawn NMs system like it was nicely working on FFXI.
By the way, no matter if you was casual, midcore or hardcore, the forced-spawn NMs system was working for any player wihtout any kind of segregations!
