Christmas time at Mog Station ! ^^

Hello,

Could it be possible to let us buy some gift(s) for our friends in the Mog station for Christmas like the new minions or Sleipnir or even few crystas ?

sorry but gifting cash shop items would essentially wreck the economy and turn the game into pay2win.

Uhhh... that isn't pay to win you know. They're all items that have no impact on gameplay, and only are for aesthetic purposes.

While I'm not too fond of the idea, it still doesn't sound like 'pay2win'... to me at least.

If I buy the cash shop item and gift it to someone who is willing to pay me with millions of gil in-game, I can turn around and use that gil to purchase things like materia and 4star crafted gear for example. This is the very definition of pay2win. Paying real life money to obtain items that make the game easier or give me an advantage over others.

Better just shut down XIV forever, someone might abuse it.

While we're at it better lock myself in the basement and set the key on fire, someone might abuse my door opening mechanics.

Like I said, to me at least. I see P2W like the crap that WoW does, offering instant level 90 characters for $60 (lolnothanks), while if you traded in game stuff for cash shop items that feels more like RMT personally. And again, this is my thought on the matter, doesn't reflect what anyone else thinks.

It's easy to make some restrictions... As I said it'd be a gift to our FRIEND(S) so the gift would be only for ppl in our flist and, why not, in our friend list for a certain amount of time (1-2 months). And it would be off the 25th december max.

And if few would like to "profit" of this good and friendly system, SE must ban them.

So if a friend happened to join during this month, they'd be SoL. Also the last part you said doesn't make sense, the 'and it would be off the 25th december max' part.

And do you know how difficult it would be for them to see if anyone was using it for profit? Trust me, there's a LOT of work that'd go into just finding a single person profiting off of it, let alone dozens of dozens. They're still having to work around the click just to try to keep RMTs in check, so I don't see how what you're suggesting could be implemented, even more so with how close it's getting to the 25th

Some of my FC and I just transferred server. The FL is wiped at that point, so we'd be unable to participate along with anyone else in the same boat.

So because a minority of ppl are so bad, some of good that just want to offer a pretty little easy gift for christmas can't...


Another restriction that can "avoid" a little bad uses of this could be to limit 1 or 2 gifts per acount... No ?

Just give them money and have them buying their present themselves.

I think the main point here is *GIFT* to someone. Meaning YOU yourself will never actually get the item, let alone try to sell it. You would designate the in-game friend of whom your gifting and it would arrive in their mailbox with a greeting from the sender.

At least that is my take away from what the OP is trying to say.

EDIT: And items would be unique/un-tradeable so the recipient could not turn around and sell.

Me too, until someone pointed it out to me in another thread. I guess this is why we can't have nice things :/

Maybe I'm too naive... but I really want to think that the community is not so bad... if we go this way, tomorrow we'll see shouts like "give me 20M gils and I pay your months" ? I understand your fears but imo it's not the good way to think always worse...

I'm sure SE can prevent a lot of bad uses of this possible "christam campaign" with a lot of precautions.

Another one I thought yesterday (add to the ones before) could be to "open" this campaign only for 24 hours the 24th of december and all gifts would be sent the 25th.
