Petition - For a text command to switch between alt versions of armor

The Dragoon AF, the Coatee outfit, and other armors and outfits, that when worn by a different gender lose parts or drastically change in appearance/have established alternate versions.

This petition is for a proposed solution to players being unable to access the alternate appearance of existing items without giving their characters a sex change. I propose that we have a text command, similar to /visor, that would switch the piece in a given slot to its alternate version.

While we're at it, maybe we could use it for giving people the non-glowing version of their Zodiac weapon!

For example when a male Dragoon in AF puts on his top it would look like it always does, but when he types in /altbody the stomach panel will disappear. Or when a female character dons the Coatee set it will at first look like the usual skirt/thighhighs/lowcut top, but after the player types /altbody and /altlegs it will become the pants and highcut top.

Anyone feel free to propose changes to the above and I'll try to add them in; I don't usually make these sorts of things.

In theory, it would be nice to have.

In practice, they're never going to put in the development time for this, and if they did, they'd make it cash shop only without a doubt.

If they can do the /visor, then this is something that can also be done. And being a low priority is pretty awesome too even if it means that one day it'll get done.

I'd love to glamour my DRG AF back if it means I don't have to see my potato belly sticking out. Lol

I'm all for options as long as it does not take from whats already existing.

This is actually a bigger task than you think. They'd have to redesign all of that armor to have two separate models just for females. You can't use the existing ones because they're made for male body type models of x race.

I mean i'm all for it but I think this might be pushing what they'd feel like doing.

Fyi, you can already do this by rebuying your base relic from the calamity salvager and then glamouring over your zenith/animus/novus/nexus. If you're willing to farm 12 atmas again, and your weapon is already at least an animus, you can get atma again and glamour that if you like the other color scheme better.

This is never, ever going to happen. The only thing that could POSSIBLY happen is the option to turn off glows, since those actually do toggle already.
They won't do this for the same reason they're not going to allow glamours by item saved sets: There's just too many resources both in the development (art teams, test teams, coding) and client side (memory, PS3 limitations) to justify it.
To do this for just female/male style variants, they would need to have twice as many individual assets that they currently have.
For example, the difference between dragoon male and female armor is more than that one silly panel. They have completely different dimensions, with the shoulders being especially noticeable on some races. The amount of work required would be absolutely absurd and serve no real practical purpose.
So yeah...not gonna happen. And if it does happen, I actually DO hope it's a cash shop item.

...though as i said, glow toggling would be a decent idea.

Letting the 5 or 6 drag queens in the game do their thing isn't worth all the model work that would require.

100% behind this. It would be a great feature and would bring a lot more customization to gear choices, even if all it did was Display/Hide certain sections of gear. They don't even have to make separate armor models or animate moving parts like /visor -- just have a toggle to have bits show or not show (essentially make parts of the texture invisible). I mean, we can already display/hide our helmets. Is it that much more work to display/hide parts of gear? We can dye armor different colors -- what if one of those colors was "clear," and it applied to specific sections?

If they wanted to get more elaborate with the system later, with things like glowing gems that change color, or whatever, that would just be another cool perk. I think it would be really neat -- but of course, like others, I don't realistically see SE caring about this or implementing it.
