Messed up tails?

I don't know about you guys but.. Is it supposed to be like that?

male miqote tails clip through everything lol in 1.0 we used to have tail armor :D

When you unsheathe your weapon, it will line up correctly. I don't know if it does with the /changepose though.

Not that it makes it any better. The tails look pretty bad with most gear. You can join the master race, we always look good. :cool:

Speaking as an animator myself. even as an amateur that's very easy to fix. I barely know what I'm doing and even I could stick the two together so the armor can't move out of alignment with the tail.

I never once said that it wasn't possible, I know exactly how you could fix it as well, having had similar issues in the past.

But to implement a fix for that just one particular piece of gear when you're shunted into a 3-month or less development cycle, you simply just go "Eh, it'll do" and move on, it's just not worth the time.

The amount of stuff we've skimped over in the past has saved us a ton of time, a few negligible bits of clipping don't matter that much.

Although I do miss the tail armour;

I'm pretty sure they actually designed tail holes into the armor in 1.0. I quit 1.0 a really long time ago, but I remember the tail holes. This was completely removed in 2.0 probably because they got tired of adding tail holes to everything they designed. So now our tails just clip through everything all the time.

Of course every race's hair clips though everything too, and they even design armor with lots of narrow high collars at the neck area with a complete lack of regard for the hair clipping right through it. They just don't care about the clipping of things in this game I guess.

Actually a lot of armor has tail holes or at least alterations to that particular area to make the tails unintrusive to the design aesthetic. For example, there's at least one coat where the cut is different for miqo'te than other races to allow for the tail.

Only a single one armor armored the tail. We have something like this also in ARR, but with cloth instead with scale plates. But it miss the animation.

About the male tail, it is this way because the tail have a curve at the start to the side instead to be straight like the female tail.
Change to female Miqo'te and you will see an improvement ^^

Lets hope they take the time to fix this in Heavensward...? Probably not. Nothing is easy to fix in a game of this size, there are tons of things to consider that would make an easy job for an amateur a helltask for a developer of the game.

I was not aware Miqo'tes had literal tail armor though...that's pretty awesome. But it's gone now, just like the super sexy physics-assisted animation and the supple miqo'te derriere...but let's not start that up again, please.


Honestly, FFXIV ARR is such an anomaly in Square Enix's recent game history that I would fear giving them more excuses to not do things, because this company loves them some excuses. If they say altering miqote armor is too tough, then i just...i just let it happen.

They would have to make either 2 miqo'te gear models (1 for male tail and 1 for female tail) or they would have to change how the male tail is.
Currently every gear, that have minimal changes for Miqo'te, have changes that fit the female tail.
