No more housing?

Forgive me if I've got this wrong, but from the news I've read about the recent live letter, SE has no plans to add anymore housing? This actually upsets me a little since I'd been saving up recently to get one, even had a couple picked out with a friend in Lavender Beds. :( Before anyone says anything, my fc house is in Mist (don't want moar mist) and I can't stand the goblet. I always wanted Lavender Beds.

Apparently SE said they felt they'd met demands, but I can't believe that this is it. I just really want to know what everyone else thinks about this. Anyone else want more housing? Have you not been able to get the house you want and don't want to feel forced into buying one in a place you dislike? :p

They're not planning(as of Live Letter) on expanding housing, even with Ishgardian Housing in 3.0(at this time)

The wording is kinda weird, but I read it as they're comfortable with the amount of housing that is out now, so it isn't as much of a rush/priority anymore. However, they'll eventually add more housing. It may just be a little while until they do.

Again, that's just how I read it! I'm not saying that's definitely what they meant. Some clarification from the devs or mods would be nice. ^.^

He simply stated that they aren't going to be expanding on housing "at this time" which doesn't mean they won't add more in the future. I myself have a personal house, and a FC house, so I don't need another one, but I'm also on Balmung and I still think they should add more housing for the other people, even if they figure out a way to only add housing to certain servers. Balmung is probably the most heavily populated NA server and will most likely always have a problem with availability on housing plots.

The priority as in not increasing the item limit of furniture in houses not adding houses themselves.

Basically they are more focused on making sure there are enough houses for everyone to buy before they go back and expand on potentially increasing the limit of furniture in mansions and maybe medium houses.

thought people wanted personal housing but the location of where the housing is troublesome ?

Try to be less picky on the manner as the server I am on has plenty of small houses in the goblet so the whole argument of availability is crap, the playerbase has always been at fault.

That depends on what server you're on. Simply because there are Goblet houses available on your server doesn't mean that it is the same for the OP's server. For example, if the OP's server (Phoenix) is less like your server and is more similar to my server (Balmung), there are absolutely ZERO small houses available anywhere. There's no reason to be calling the OP "picky" just because there are small houses available on your server.

I can't stand the goblet is from the OP, means the goblet alone prevents them from bothering with it.

And I'm on a legacy server by the way and has a lot of people on there, lavender and mist has no small houses at all, but goblet does.

So yes, people are picky.

not to mention the goblet has the whole item's against the wall issue, of course one would not want to spend millions just to get a half ass place.

i wanted that small plot right up against the waterfall with the bridge in lavender beds but due to all the logging on issues as soon as 2.4 dropped (i stayed awake EST times and had the patch downloaded before it went live) i was not able to get on in time and all of them were bought, wouldn't have mattered anyways tho because i read the patch notes wrong and only had 4 mil saved, not the 5 mil that a first-class plot. All that just to say that i still picked up one of the 4 mil plots and that yes you can (and have the right to) be picky because your spending millions but cant be to picky because then you will just end up with no house at all lol.

Of course as Kalisim pointed out, Balmung is not even about being picky since SE is unable to deliver upon the demand. Really wish they can pick up some dynamic system in the future.. Static resources in a theme park mmo.. ugh it just hurts mentally that they do this lol (in an economic driven game static and destructible resources are great, say for example EVE).

On Phoenix it's more or less the Goblet with spaces and a bit of Mist I guess. You can call me picky if you want, but considering it's my hard earned gil I have every right to want to put it down on a place/location I don't hate. I also mentioned that I had a place picked out with a friend (and possibly any others for a little neighborhood). It just wasn't till now that we could really afford to drop gil on housing.

In any case, if they're adding more housing eventually then all's fine. XD

They do not need to focus on housing every patch. Give it a bit of time, especially when many servers have a ton left over.

I'm glad they're finally going to work on other aspects of housing instead of simply making more of it. Houses are in a desperate need of a higher furnishing limit. 100 spaces in a fully (properly) decorated small is bad. 150 for a medium is awful and 200 for a large is abysmal. Have you ever seen a 200/200 large? They look empty! Sure, you can get the basic furniture down, but if you wanna spread around the little things that fill out a house (pictures, rugs, etc) you're completely SOL.

That and there's the matter of housing being almost completely useless. Sure, you can train a chocobo and grow some stuff. That's nice and all, but the rest of it really serves no purpose aside from being a fortress of solitude in dead and abandoned housing wards.

if the location matters that much to you, you could always just trnsfer servers. Jenova has entire subdivisions that are completely empty, and transfers opened November 1st.

I believe this is SE's way of creating server balance. Yoshi saw just how few houses were taken on the smaller servers, and said "if they actually care, they can transfer and take those."

What they need to do is just add wards of nothing but small houses. =_=

*Shakes head* The longer this game goes on, the more I feel that Yoshida has completely lost touch with his player base. Just about every vanity/cosmetic/extra thing that the players have wanted he's added in such a way as to induce as much rage as humanly possible. Everything has been hopelessly over complicated, wrapped up in so much monetary red tape, or rng that it turns players off from it completely.

Other games have managed these same things with far FAR less rage inducing tactics, of all the things Yoshida could have ripped off from them, why not those things?

They're not adding more actual physical housing plots for now since there's not as much demand for them. They're changing focus to enhancing the way the housing works, such as higher item limits for larger houses and interface tweaks. At least, that's what i gleaned from the live letter.
As someone who has played those other games, it should be noted that a lot of games with private housing either have EVERYTHING instanced so unless you know whose house to look for, it's mostly for self-gratification, or the competition for land is even MORE competitive than in this game.
Also, people will rage over everything. If you set the price on housing to one gil and a 20 minute quest, people would complain that it takes 20 minutes to get a house.
From what I understand, there are very real capacity problems with the game, so it seems like they're completely unable to provide EVERYONE with housing since there's at least 2 million accounts, so it needs to be a finite resource.
