How Many Fish Have You Caught?

Greetings Fellow Fishers!

I thoroughly enjoy fishing and find it to be one of the more enjoyable activities in this game. Fisher was my first class to level 50 all the way back on November 5, 2013. I consider myself to be one of the most experienced fishers on my server, and possibly across all servers. As I start to close in on 35,000 fish caught during my career, I was curious as to where this stacks up among my fellow fishers.

So how many fish have you caught?

Still need 12 fish for 100% completion

I think I hit 20k before Big Fishing was released. I did a lot of fishing in my early days as a way to make money and explore the map. I was not too concerned with completion. In fact, if I was fishing up anything other than a fish I knew I could sell on the market, I felt like I was wasting my time!;) I was also working on getting the Luminary rod.

I must have fished up thousands of red and white coral, and I remember when I caught a Titanic Sawfish completely unexpectedly when I was out fishing silver sharks for market...back in December 2013! Here is the blog post I made about it (link). I held onto that fish and never sold it because I wanted to keep it since it was my biggest fish record at the time...which was lucky because when big fishing came out I had a titanic for the quest already!

I finally started to work on log completion soon after Big Fishing came out.

So have any other fishers out there at least caught 10,000? 20,000? Don't be shy!

I'm up to about 43,000 or so. Have every fish caught except for a few annoyingly elusive stragglers (Imperial Goldfish, Bat o' Nine-tails, Old Man in the Sea, and Shonisaurus), as well as every fishing achievement save Imagine Dragons.

I like fishing.

Under 100. Maybe under 50. I use the market board to level up my fisher. :D

This is impressive! Do we have anyone who has cracked 50k? And don't worry if you aren't in it for completion! This thread is about number of fish caught, not percentage of fish guide complete. I think number of fish caught is the true measure of a fisher's enjoyment of the craft, because fishing has become a lot "easier" ever since the data mining 3rd party program came out.

I'm not saying I don't use that data, I'm grateful to have it, but I want to hear from those who fish because they love it, not only those who are in it for completion-ism (not a word)...though the two don't have to be mutually exclusive, of course.

A lot of my early fishing before big fish were a thing was focused on breaking the known world record sizes. Caught thousands just trying to get that record Pirarucu or Shall Shell or Rhamphorhynchus, and so on. I had some pretty good sizes back in the day, and once I get all the new fish I'd like to get back into breaking records. Already have within the top five for Nepto Dragon(deep sea), Canavan (rivers), and Coelcanthus (coastlines).
