Warrior Novus advice

Hey all I'm currently undertaking the monetarily trying task of fusing a Novus scroll. I have a few concerns:

1: I'm beginning to push into the EX fights and will be getting into coil soon, where accuracy is very important.

2: I generally ascribe to the school of thought that WAR should embrace DET for its double healing qualities at the expense of parry, and that crit can be pretty swank as well.

3: I'm one of the top contenders for aggro generation/ main tanking hunts on my server. I know it sounds silly but I really like beating out everyone else on aggro gen and would ideally like to have a novas weapon that contributes to putting me on top in this endeavor.

4: On the other hand, savage might IV and to a lesser extent savage aim IV is extremely expensive on my server(600-1000k depending on ebb and flow), and while being patient with this will help me have a "stronger" relic in the long run, I've read that a few points of crit and det only make a minimal impact on overall performance, and the longer I sit on this step of the relic the further I fall behind the competitive edge.... plus I'm just getting sick of being ilvl 100 on my weapon.

So I'm kinda torn and would like advice from the more experienced players on the board as to whether something like a 26/25/24 det/crit/acc novas is still pretty good, and if anyone knows the breakpoints for the stat boosts on nexus that would be great too. I *might* go as high as 30 on det but with my luck no way am I going to sink millions into that 31st point. Would something like 20 acc still be worthwhile for letting me forsake acc on other pieces? Should I get even more acc and sacrifice crit? I already have some crit on the scroll so realistically I don't see me dropping crit below 20ish for more acc unless a few more points will make a significant difference when it comes to swapping other pieces.

Any mix of ACC/DET/Crit works fine. I would spend gil in this order, Det, acc then crit.

Basically what sirtaint said, I would go Det then Crit until you are close or capped the tier 3. At this point decide if you need acc, which you shouldn't since the poetics gear give so much and either continue with the det/crit or go det/crit/acc. You won't break the bank with the det/crit/acc and its a decent balance. If you want parry get the HA axe.

If you don't put acc on your weapon, you don't expect to use it in coil.

I do, but I've only been playing a few months and haven't cleared T9 yet. I figure I'll probably have a lot of Ironworks gear before hitting final coil at this rate, my group is pretty fixated on clearing all the ex primals atm, and as marx mentioned poetics gear has a lot of acc. I've also read warriors feeling like they have an excess of acc. But I do think I'll get some. I have 25 det right now and will try to get a few more at least. I might go for an even split of crit and acc reading this though. thanks everyone!

There is accuracy everywhere, don't listen to people who wasted their relic by putting accuracy on it. Personal I did DET/CRIT on my warrior and paladin relics but since that can be pricey you could put parry into it.

Tell that to my raid WAR he has to eat Acc food for t12 and has 22acc on his nexus.

Putting det/crit IVs on there was just too expensive for me. I went 23/33/19 det/crit/acc. That's until you get to IVs for both then acc for the rest.
You can't really go wrong with accuracy as it gives you more flexibility. Skillspeed is also something that is somewhat useful for Wars especially if you get to 421.

But also: Det only helps healing in that you do more damage so your self-heals are a bit stronger. It does not make other's healing spells hit your harder.

Aww, thanks for clearing that up. It's still considered a pretty valuable stat from what I understand due to having more weight per point than others though, is this correct?

I have det at 25 already and might get a few more on there. After reading some of the comments on acc I think I want at least 20 on there. 20 acc-25 crit-30 det would be really badass, but I will probably settle for 22/25/28. I could well afford to get crit up much higher, but worst case scenario that much acc will give me more flexibility on other pieces, which can let me weigh my setup with more det overall. And this way I can sell my crit IV's to fund more det. :D

All secondary stats are so weak that a few points here or there isn't going to make a difference you're going to notice. I wouldn't use any Tier IV materia unless you're rolling in $$, especially as a tank. Besides, after you've completed your novus you can change the stats around at any time if you later find that you have to have that extra few points in det or crit.

This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
"My current gear doesn't hit acc cap even though there are other pieces with acc that I could be wearing"

Pieces can we swapped out between FCoB and Poetics to hit ACC cap. The point is that the relic lets you make a weapon that chances are will never exist in the game, a pure dps tank weapon.

Please enlighten me to what I can change to get more accuracy without dropping ilvl, spending poetics I don't have, or magically making dreadwyrm pieces with acc drop.

Maybe he is trolling?

There is nothing to change with that setup without getting drops from Coil or spending Poetics.


Edit: There will also be differences between someone who raids FCoB and understands how much ACC alters gear choices and someone who doesn't ever run into ACC problems because they are doing aged content.

If you can afford it, max out DET. Spend the rest on a mix of CRIT/ACC, depending on your preference. I mean, what else are you going to spend your gil on anyways (housing, crafted accessories, i guess). I still think plopping down some extra dough to get to 31 DET is worth, considering you are already at 25.

I'm an oddball I suppose but my set up is:

ACC: 20
DET: 30
Parry: 25

I like to have some acc on my war because it allows me to move around some pieces in my gear since a lot of times it's luck getting the right pieces, thus the 20 acc allows me some breathing room. Det is great, more hate, more self heals (however small) and a tad bit more deeps. Only reason it isn't 31 is because of the gil. The oddball in me wishes to have parry. My logic, while I understand the other side, is mitigation is mitigation, and my goal is to have enough parry on where it seems as if I have Storms Path up at all times (10% reduction in dmg). Warriors have less cooldowns, so I don't mind the extra rng mitigation from parry.

I only craft & Raid, your weapon stats will depend on what you do.
