PS3 controller's, well, controls:

I've downloaded the means for my PS3 controller to work on my PC (I think): MotioninJoy and Better DS3. It's obviously worked (great...a side from a few times when charging into battle and the avatar... doesn't... stop charging (lol)), but it seems that whenever I turn off my computer and turn it on again, it's a whole new battle of actually getting my controller to work. After awhile it seems to randomly cooperate. Today it just doesn't want to cooperate. I've restarted my PC, unplugged the controller, deleted my DS3 profile and swiftly made another, and so on and so forth. The weird thing is that the DS3 test works fine. But when I load the game, the controls are all switched around.

I've looked around on the internet and most peoples' problems seem to be that their controller doesn't work at all. Well, mine works. It just seems that the buttons are acting as different buttons. The right analog only works vertically (nothing happens when moved horizontally), for example, and the D-pad does the horizontal aspect.

Since I don't play other PC games, I can't tell if this is just DS3 (but again: the test works) or if it's just FFXIV. Anyone know how to... work with this? If I at least know how to get my controller to work properly, it wouldn't be such a hassle.

Yeah, well, I have a PS3 and not a PS4. ;)

Better DS3 sets up the DualShock3 with xbox controller configuration. i have ZERO clue as of to why. but all the default settings for anything is completely wonky. i haven't used Better DS3 since for a long time now. it's garbage. you are better off using the original program. and getting a blue tooth dongle for easier configuration.

That's the odd thing, though. It was working /great/. So I don't understand why it keeps doing this whenever the computer restarts. By original program do you mean the green DS3? When I downloaded that, it wasn't green and... it didn't work (it was a bit messed up). It was like something was wrong with the program? So I just assumed it was no longer compatible because of BDS3 (so I've only been using that). I would change the default settings on Better DS3 but I have NO IDEA what is what. XD Thank you for the tip, though.

by original program i mean motion joy. at least i think it was the original program to provide such functionality. however, the program is quite out-of-date. it's a little slow and has adverts on it. but is better then the so-called better DS3 tool. just IMO.

or if you want, you can try a simpler way. instructions. this will give you basic support. all buttons and such should work fine. you can charge too. however you won't have any special features like rumble intensity or sensitivity options. or re-mapping functionality. just whatever options you get through the control panel.

Thank you! I see what you mean. I downloaded another MotioninJoy driver (7.000-maybe more zeros) and that seems to make all the difference. I'm thinking the version I grabbed prior to this'un was too dated? I'll refer to your link if I have any more troubles. (:

oh wow. that's pretty nice. and that is pretty up-to-date. last update seems to be march of this year.

Checking it out now, Squa11. Unfortunately, I'm having issues again. (After uninstalling and re-installing everything (excluding the game). I'm getting a bit fed up with this.) Hoping this works! Cheers.

EDIT: So... it ended up being something as simple as the aforementioned. Of course, right? Ha ha... So if anyone has a similar problem: I suggest calibrating through the game's system configuration itself.

For whatever reason, I'm having issues just installing this (and yes: I'm going by the directions). My patience is non-existent right now so I'll come back to it tomorrow and see what's up.

What issue are you having?

At the moment, I'm using PCSX2 profile on Better DS3 and calibrated my controller through the game (system configuration) itself (I wish I had noticed that earlier) and got it to work. -Sighs- [:
