I was on Masamune before 2.0. Now it's a JP server so im trying to transfer. I was considering leviathan but I'm wondering if there are good reason to go to a newer, lower populated server?

I'm not too concerned with gil, in defiantly not staying on a JP server either way, and I'm not worried about people who went to leviathan from Masamune as I didn't make any friends really.
I'm wondering about the pros and cons of a transferring to a higher or lower pop US server.
The only real pros and cons you need to consider... Pros for a higher population, it can be easier to get into PF groups. Cons? Lots of strange people, and a lot more jag offs. Pros for a lower population? Usually a tighter community that most people know each other in. Cons? If you're not in a static, or have people willing to play with you, you're SOL to put it nicely.
Imo being on a higher pop server would make things easier for pf, but the downfall would be trying to buy a house. Just imo.
That's somewhat true on Adamantoise, yeah. Our server has a lot of cliques, and most are led by respectable people. It took roughly 1 month to start seeing t10/t11 pugs in party finder, whereas my static started downing it on the first week. Still, I feel smaller servers breed a more honest and upfront community, in which your negative actions will directly influence your future on the server.
Whatever population growth the smaller servers may see will be small (if there is any growth at all) unless there is some sort of enticing incentive for people to flock there.
EU & US servers are all located in Montreal, Canada, so you shouldn't see a difference between them.
Don't low pop.
Market Board has inflated prices.
PF has, on average, 4 groups usually consisting of FATE grinding and advertisements. There's an Ex Primal/T6-T8 once every other day.
Endgame is dead. It's composed of cliques who rarely recruit.
The guy on Adamantoise who says they just started T10/T11 PuG runs in PF... That would never happen on my server. The rare T9 group goes unfilled for hours here. I'm willing to bet most players on my server are on T5.
As for the question "lower pop servers will also grow with time", No. People start off here then transfer to better servers for reasons already listed above. Low pop servers are doomed to be low pop.
The community aspect of low pop is nice, but it's not worth it. You are missing so much of the game by being on a low pop server because there isn't enough activity involved in them.
Totally agree. Low pop is plagued by too many problems, it will cause you to quit game fast due to lack of interesting things to do. Even as a crafter Low pop is bad, high end items don't sell but once a week at best. There's a huge supply of crafted items on Low pop but mats are usually in much smaller supply due to the massive amount of crafters and no buyers to speak of thanks to the casual nature of the server.
You'd think reputation matters on a smaller server...it really doesn't thanks to DF and PF to keep yourself relatively self-sufficient from the server. Also endgame groups are usually extremely slow to progress and even slower get started. Very casual nature again.
Closing note: DON'T MOVE TO LAMIA!! (Caps)
