it would be cool if in the future we could synth new paintings with dyes, etc. :cool:

Yeah, I think they would look awesome as well!

I'm hoping that they add some bigger paintings for us to hang up in our houses/rooms. ^^

These just make me wish they put nice high resolution texture on them.

i would love to have some of these in my house! and if they put sum nice hq canvas/paint stroke texture on it would be even better!

I always wondered about the Roe looking at that top most picture. Occasionally he'll say "Master..." I wonder who he and his master are and why that painting reminds him of his master.

It was rumored a long while back that he was either a missing scion or lost 'path walker'. AFAIK, that's as far as the speculation went and nothing was ever confirmed or denied.

Perhaps he is an artist and the painting reminds him of his master because his master painted it.

Artist could be cool, part crafter, part Mage. In battle you use crafting skills to create a pet of one of the dungeon mobs to fight for you. And then tie them to the sightseeing log to create paintings for crafting.

I'd love to have wall mounted lights to hang above our paintings to showcase them, draw your attention to the wonderful art pieces you've collected.

Also, I thought the tree stump in the first picture reminded me of the one where you go for the BRD quests. I am probably mistaken, though

While we can’t make any promises, the development team will look into whether or not they can add similar styles of paintings to the list of new furnishings!

I read OP's post a couple of days ago and it got me thinking of something that I think would be pretty cool after he mentioned dying paintings. Have a single furnishing piece, called it a picture frame or whatever, and depending on the dye, a different picture shows up in the frame. Perhaps the picture can be based around the colour. If there are too many colours then you can just do a single picture for all the reds, one for all the blues, etc.

How cool would it be if we could put our own screen shots or pics of our characters/FC members as paintings XD

Can we have the ability to mirror paintings? I wanna make my Maelstrom Office with 2 Merlwybs facing my desk

Wonder if there would be enough demand to warrant SE looking into a company that can turn these into 'real' canvas painting/images. SE has a lot of great environmental concept/in game art (Jynx hire res comment would now be required though lol).

It would be great if we could make paintings out of screenshots. Capture the memory of that dungeon win, or that raid derp.

Sadly, it will never happen though, for the same reason we can't use custom artwork in creating FC crests. And that's because SE would have to first approve every piece of art/picture/screenshot to be used in that way to make sure it doesn't violate the Terms of Service, because, you just know that with human nature the way it is, someone is bound to think it 'funny' to try to use a pornographic/offensive image or plagiarized from another game/site/movie/TV show.

Hence, it's just considered too costly in terms of manpower and development resources to have such a feature, development resources which can be better spent elsewhere. Don't get me wrong - I'd love to see such a feature in the game too, but I'm just being realistic here.

Hmmmm what about this? What if they had a feature that rendered portraits for up to 8 people, with a small choice of pre approved poses to pick from, and a selected background. Kind of like Guild Cards in monster hunter. Plus it'd be fun to have certain backgrounds as either rare drops and/or achievement rewards!

I wish we could get bigger paintings that cover more of the wall at once. We're already limited in item numbers so using my slots for these very small images seems like a waste. Same goes for small flower vases that are nice but the game considers them just as important to my home decor quota as a sofa that's 20x bigger than the vase.

A life size paintings depicting concept art of enemies or zones would be awesome.

Also the resolution in all of these sucks. I see no technical reason to cap the resolution SO LOW even on ps4 in an instance where you KNOW the number of items is so small. It's not like ps4 can't handle it. We already have better ground than on ps3 so why not upgrade this handful of paintings? it would take like 5 minutes for somebody to do this!

Larger paintings would be great, but I'd really like to see some tapestries and curtains that we could hang on walls, or even use as doors and partitions.
