I would like to earn the favor of Kan-E-Senna or some other motherly lady.
It was an April Fools joke, but I have to admit I like the concept of it. It doesn't necessarily need to involve romance, but it would be nice to have that extra level of interaction with the story mode characters. Personally, I'd be all about romancing Nero... that hunky villain might be evil, but at least he's gorgeously evil.
Could be possible had a similar system in SWTOR.:D With our companions.
Bayohne said it would be possible, depending on what and how the developers decide to implement it, etc. I already suggested how I think they should do it with great detail: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...mancing-Quests
Honestly I think adding an option to "romance" the main npcs might be a bit too complicated story-wise (i.e. why is Thancred still stalking Higiri after last night?! that cheating jerk! :p) but having some quests to at least get more personal interaction/backstory with the main npcs, like you do for minor npcs in the Moogle Postman quests would be great.
I think it would actually add a new dimension to the game, even if it just resulted in the NPC occasionally visiting your room to offer a buff.
Yes...a "buff"...let's call it that...
Is this about a comeback of favoured classes on gear? ^^
Here you go:

Do you think titan will say yes if I ask him out? IM SO SHY I DONT KNOW IF I CAN DO IT
I think the storyline concerns would be the biggest thing, though there are other things that would make it difficult as well.
Sounds cool to me, I'd like to see more bonding in the game - general term but I mean it generally. I hope when they add chocobo raising that they feel like your buddy, while I did raid quite a bit in WoW and that was fun and all - I greatly enjoyed just wandering around with -my- pet. While of course favour system would not be a pet (unless you get a special kind of npc, Miners guild? lol) it follows those lines of being connected not just socially but to the game at a deeper level. I get that it is hard and maybe not a pillar focus for an MMORPG but, I'd like it.
I mentioned WoW only because a. pet experience was nice for me, and I hope SE can beat them whether it is chocobo or beastmaster, hopefully both lol and b. I don't raid much in FFXIV, much less time I cannot make time commitments without feeling like a burden to my friends as I will not be able to keep them (also before I wasn't married, now - wife > raid party, so between work and wife I just haven't been so serious but I'm happy :P).
Sorry for the tangent on pets lol, just feel that the umbrella is a connection to the world a bit deeper (developing and maintaining a relationship beyond a step in step out main story) and that both systems fall beneath it.
Just to put more on point into the post, a few ideas I thought could be neat is say you have a strong bond to a few NPCs in Ul'dah and you fail to a FATE out in Thanalan - you have a chance that you might see them wandering the area and raise you or if you're alone for a while you might get help and then of course they return back to their own adventure (or whatever task it was). Maybe fund, build, find npc shops. Stretching out from the system could also build relations with chocobo porters to get them to travel you farther/taken quicker less approved paths. And of course the idea in the april fools of just building a relationship, but things -imo- tend to build an easier appreciated weight to their actions when there is a tangible benefit also associated to it (not required, but helpful).
^ Could use the linkshell for something like that.
Like, say you die out in the overworld. You'd have the option to call for your friends to help you, if you have a favored NPC. One of them would answer and either show up out there and rez you (most) or if they're a faction leader where they're typically not found wandering around, send soldiers out to rez you. Could have a similar thing for calling them to help you in combat, like the Chocobo. The actual NPC if normal, if an important faction leader, they send a retainer to help.
Little stuff like that.
That'd be neat, to that I'd also like to see NPC use the mail system (to you). Would be nice to get a thank you letter, or a follow up quest in the mail. Also with the linkshell idea you could also have the npc ask for help and you can show up to earn extra favour or something (exp, gil, item, what have you).
Tataru: "Eeek!- Help me "player name", I was just mining minding my own business and I'm smack dab in the middle of a Coblyn nest!" "<pos>, you're my only hope!(lol)". Not all need be emergency, perhaps if you are in queue for a long time you are invited to join them in a party of something you queued for (reasonable content only ofc). Or gathering and they invite or ask if they may gather with you (getting an exp bonus or small rate up).
Nao from Mabinogi already has a resurrection system via the NPC Nao, but right now, it's only for paying users or users that somehow get the nao blessing stones. So would be nice. Obviously it would be disabled in anything related to PVP.
I thnk he would be very confused.
Titan: SONS OF MAN! MURDERERS OF MY CHILDREN!
Kiara: Titan senpai, will you go out with me???
Titan: I SHALL GRIND THEE... I'M SORRY, WHAT?
Kiara: Please go out with me, senpai!!!
Titan: ...
Titan: ......
Titan: ..............................okay.
Kiara: :D
Garuda's Response to people asking her out:
You'll have to be branded and become my personal servant before I go out with you. *everyone who agrees gets a green garuda tattoo on their upper back similar to the meteor survivors.*
Shiva's Response:
To have the honor of going out with me... you must first know thine own struggle. You must become an outcast, of all your family and friends. Once you have returned, I shall brand you, as I did others... and we shall take to the depths of the cold reaches of Hydaelyn, and there, we shall repopulate. Of course, I will have to turn you into solid ice once I'm through with you.
I want to marry Iceheart.
I don't care if it's forbidden love. I wish to be her warmth.
Oh yes, that would be lovely Then I can ride off into the sunset with Y'shtola.
You keep your damn dirty hands off my Ser Aymeric! He's mine!!
Only if I get to have a harem. If the Miqo'te can do it, so can I.
Thancred, Aymeric, Haurchefant, Briardien and G'raha are all invited.
Its too complicated to begin with. First you need level five: charisma, intelligence, and style before you can even trigger the flag event. You then need to ask Kane-Senna out after school and only on tuesdays and fridays. You also need to make sure to spend lunch together and make sure her favorite food is given to increase her affection. You will also need to make sure she doesn't conflict with the other girls you are dating if you want the true ending. Then at level 7 affection you need to choose if this is the girl you want to end the game with or go with someone else. Once you reach rank 10 affection you two will share a special moment together in your room and form an eternal bond.
....or you can just add them as a "Guest" in your party for solo content.
I don't see why it couldn't be handled the same way it is in Tales of Xillia 2: there are the default storyline cutscenes, and then if you've built up enough affection with certain characters, you get bonus scenes added to those cutscenes. They don't change or affect the storyline cutscenes in any way, they're just an added bonus.
You could do the same thing here. If you've built up affection with, say, Y'shtola, you would get a short bonus cutscene with her after a storyline cutscene.
Maybe a mentor system similar to Breath of Fire 3, where you pick a mentor and get a +5% bonus in an attribute.
Oh! to have the affections of my dear Jacke, Oboro, and Shiva <3 I would be a happy man ^.^
I mean, can you imagine it?
Player 1: "I dedicated 3 months of my life wiping day after day to clear <insert equivalent of Final Coil>"
Player 2: "I got Minfilia's true ending"
Player 1: "Ok, you win"
Garuda always seemed to me the type that would want her chosen man to rise up and become an equal to her. Kind of like the borg queen or those really bossy girls in certain types of anime/dating sims. The one that would treat the guy like crap to goad him to surpass her expectations.
Shiva actually strikes me as the type that would ignore relationships because of her dedication to her goal (the fact that she's already been married puts her in a VERY interesting character archetype, too). That means the player would have to make every effort to get close to her, eventually chipping away at her focus on her task. A sort of variation of the "melting the ice queen" story type.Quote:

I want this if only for Harchefaunt.
Yes, yes, yes. Do it, SE. Please.
Since that moogle keeps going on about how her attitude is what keeps her from getting a boyfriend, I'm figuring she would be the type that would probably give you a LOT of errands to run for her. Mostly to drive you off at first, only for her to discover that your companionship has grown on her (going to the eventual "please keep coming back and doing stuff for me" character arc). She would basically get used to having you around. Might even have some cutscene where you don't show up and she goes out looking for you or something.
Yes, I think about this stuff too much.
Am I really the only one who would jump into Hildibrand's arms just for the hilarity that his quests would bring?
But I don't think -romance- should be a part of this system for 2 reasons;
1)We are already getting an in-game marriage system for players to marry our characters to each other.
2)Having a favor system that lets us get attached to more than one character will let us experience more quests and gain more rewards, similar to beast tribes. I would certainly like to learn more about many of the side characters, not just pick one based on the rewards or go with my favorite at the cost of losing stuff.
This would be basically you helping Hildy out on a more personal level (since we are currently dragged in to watch the insanity rather than directly be part of it). Like....you continuously help him out, he comes to depend on you and respect your input. Eventually you suggest you want more, he reveals he's thought about it but didn't say anything out of professionalism. Then Godbert's wife comes into play. 'cause if you're gonna jump into Hildy's arms, you have to keep in mind his mother has to approve of you. :O
