Silly QoL Poetry/Soldiery Purchase Adjustment

This is a very simple request but it can help people. (I may edit the post later tonight with images.)

I feel it would be helpful for the items purchased with tomestones to have a slightly different color other than white. I understand there is a secondary pop up, but too often have I been there hovering over the item and then realizing oh wait this isn't the _____, at the last second. (After soldiery was unlocked i accidently bought a noct wristlet lol)

The problem I think is that the text is tied to our settings for text colors in game right? Perhaps, if there was a way to disassociate the text colors it would help? That or make the visual icons have a tag on the top right corner saying "Dex" or "Job"? Thoughts?

It's not about reading the name of the item that is annoying, it's looking at the same icon, same color, same color text, same naming scheme that become monotonous. Ever read this label on vitaminwater?

You made points about buying the wrong item as a result.

...anyway, I just read the name of the drink on that label.

Easy not to confuse with the other drinks of different names.

I don't find it monotonous having them in the same color, you do have a different item icon you know (for most).

So which one of these icons looks different? (These won't be on the same page obviously but they look exactly the same for all right side)

Not to mention the belts....

That is a minimum of 20 items with the SAME icon, SAME naming scheme, SAME blue box, and SAME colored text. Yes I could just sit there and quadruple check that I am purchasing the correct item but like I said I've only made this mistake once and that, when soldiery was unlocked. However, people should be able to differentiate the object easier. You should be able to look at these pieces and say "That's a ____ (dex/str/int) accessory." Just like they can with left side gear. It is a blatant issue that has been a plague of accessories after darklight.

I support this, I accidentally purchased daystar necklace instead of everstar necklace, which I had no idea how it happened.

Your examples took me one look and seconds to determine what jobs it is used for by immediately looking at the Primary Stats.

I'm not saying your request isn't without reason. However, you also have tools at your disposal. I always Item Compare before I make a purchase even if I've looked at the item multiple times in the past.

If I'm spending hours grinding for an item, I will take a few seconds/minute to double check it before purchasing regardless if all the items are different or themed via name or icon.

There is nothing wrong with a simple QoL improvement for added readability. I support this.

I don't know what you are trying to suggest, so perhaps the images you mentioned would do the trick. How would changing all the colors prevent the unintended purchase, when I assume that color would still be the same then on all items?

Uh, wait I am confused as to what you are trying to suggest. You want the item text (the name of the item) in the store window to be changed? Is that it?

If that's not it, then I don't understand, unless you are saying you want something to display an item you already have? If that's so, we already have that, that Qty. (Quantity) on the side will display a 0 if you don't have the item in your inventory or armory chest, and a 1 if you do.

Technically I wish they would alter the text colors slightly. If they are all bound to the same format. Then I'd be okay with the icons of similar gear having a different color for the item.

Read what you selected in the confirmation window before hitting yes. This is a case of user error.

The problem with that is that the colors were meant to be based on rarity or rank, not job. If they change the colors on the gear icons, then they'd have to change the colors on the relics as well. Also this seems like a mistake that is seldom made by most players.

Not that I wouden't support something like this, change the icon to the following:

• Fending: Keep as Blue
• Healing: Green (not just a green to gray gradient)
• Casting: Purple
• Maiming: Red
• Scouting: Yellow
• Striking: Orange
• Aiming: Cyan or Magenta (Like the Aetherial gear)
• Relics: based on their Job crystal and have a different background/pattern

But it seems buying the wrong item is a mistake that is seldom made so I doubt SE would chime in on this.

I agree that is isn't a mistake made often, but what I'm getting at isn't the color of the box per-say. It is either the color of the text on the menu to be changed OR them changing the jewelry's color to reflect the type attribute. (The gem of the ring/ear/wrist/neck)

This seems like a lotta hubbub about almost nothing. You can only, on avg get 1 piece of poetic gear a week. Are we in such a rush that an activity we do once a week cant take 5 seconds instead of 2? Just don't spam through menus when buying and selling. That's how you waste millions posting or buying items on the market board by accident. That's how you throw away or convert items by accident. At some point it's just not reasonable to make the game childproof. The item name, stats, usable jobs pops up when you highlight the item. It then pops up bigger when you select it. You then get a confirmation window. Now we have to color code every item in the game? Just turn your brain on.

Like I said it doesn't bother me so much, an annoyance at best. The arguments you guys post have one major flaw, that is you are playing a video game that color codes everything. The ground marker AoE? Color Coded. Crafted Gear? Green/White (color coded). Heck Job even crystals are color coded too.

So why are things like accessories, that people buy, not given a similar treatment?

All items are already color coded though, and based on rarity. Since you bring up all the battle stuff, I would compare this to hitting a monster and some one says "once in a while I accidentally hit the wrong monster. Can you make m9nsters flash red every time I hit them?" There's already a target marker on your target, the damage pops up over it, you do flashy animations on it for each action l, and they even do a little shudder animation every time they are hit. Turn your brain on.

May be an exaggeration, but the principle is the same. There comes a point where we have to draw the line on convenience and dev effort. This one just doesn't have the payoff and the info is thrown in your face repeatedly already. We dont need yet another layer to reiterate the same.information to players in a new 10th way the 1st 9 are adequate.

I gave your original post a like. My comment was mostly gear towards this present time for ppl reading it. As who knows time wise and if it would be implemented.
