Can we do anything about inventory control?

What I mean by "Inventory Control" is adjusting what items we want to be added to our inventory, because today I've been more pissed at all the crap NQ drops that clog up my inventory and make me constantly need to re-sort it than ever before.


Usually I'm great at clearing space so nothing hits the floor, in terms of gear and materials, because everything is added to my inventory first before my armoury chest. I do two Peiste maps with a friend because they can give rare things, like the Unhidden Maps, and are the best ones to do if you're getting any of them from mining that I know of.

After the Chimera popped for mine, me as WAR and my friend as WHM had the most difficult fight coming up. Even at 108 and 110 respectively, it was more difficult than any of my Second Coil runs earlier or Shiva EX. After miraculously beating it with 0:02 to spare, we finished and took our breath for a moment.

By this point, I saw that an Unhidden Leather map did indeed drop, and the only reason I do the maps to begin with is potentially selling those. Well, unbeknownst to me, after killing enemies from the first map and the second, my inventory was filled up by dozens of crap materials from the adds, and the Unhidden Leather map hit the floor(because my friend passes on the loot rule items for me).

After how much that angered me, I realized that there needs to be some way for us to determine what we want added to our inventory. I don't want my Jelly Umbrellas and Bone Chips and Wolf Fangs and all those NQ materials that aren't of crap use anymore to stay out of my inventory, I'll still take HQ in-case I ever need to use them for something, but the fifteen-thousand things dropping and making me need to constantly reorganize and discard and sell is irritating.

Does anyone else like the idea of determining what automatically gets thrown into our inventory?

It's not S-E's fault if you were less-than-great this time in checking your inventory, when you know you are doing something like maps where drops are going to be key. There are plenty of vendors near teleport points for you to sell / trash your NQ loot, or hit the market board or your retainer(s) for anything that's more important.

I don't think they will ever implement loot filters, because then there could be a case where someone was intentionally farming items, or a new player who messed with settings by mistake, that would then lose out on items from enemies because of a setting that they forgot they enabled some time ago.

Sell everything that you can buy for less than 100 gil in the MB to NPC. Put the rest into the retainer.

I forgot how jerkish these forums are, apparently this is considered trolling by the inept of the boards.

Make sure you have enough spaces in your inventory to roll. If not discard something THEN roll.

Honestly, I don't see how SE could make it any easier for you to know that your inventory is full.

First, they have a little graphic showing which slots in your bags are full already in the UI. I suppose you could disable this, but that'd be yoru fault if you did.

Second, you get a warning starting at 3 slots left for each slot that something goes into in your inventory.

Finally, it was a loot roll item which means you had the opportunity to ensure your inventory wasn't full before clicking the roll which you apparently didn't do.

This isn't a programming fail, this is your fail. Sucks, but sorry man, better luck next time.

I agree with you OP, I would love to be able to block certain items from ever entering my inventory. I already have a million stacks of bat wings, I really don't need any more. This really bothers me while fate grinding, between fates having to stop and empty out the 111100383 dodo eggs I just acquired that I will never use.

With the snakes and enemies that were spawning in the second map, and the god awful hill it was on, red error messages were popping up nigh constantly from actions being unable to go off and from "target is not in range" nonsense. My 20/20 vision wasn't good enough to be able to see all the crap that filled up my inventory through all of that, much less to see that split millisecond "1 slot left" in inventory message.

Thank you, this is my exact point. Why can't we have anything that prevents certain things from dropping straight into our inventory? We should be able to get a filter for this sort of thing. The game doesn't ask(even though this would get annoying for every single thing that gets thrown at us) before it shoves something into our pocket, it just happens. We need something to control this.

Ya my one filter would be to filer out crafting items as I do not craft and don't really care for it unless its HQ but NQ craft item filter would be on my list.
