I hope I can level enough by the time it comes out so I can truly enjoy all the new stuff
(I'm a very slow leveler because completionist+ very limited play time = using up most of that time on things that don't give much exp, but make me feel like I still accomplished a lot)

What has me wondering is why he chose to take off his Warrior garb to be a Dragoon.

well lore wise he is going up against dragons. Dragoons are dragon slayers. so why not? lol

I'm curious about the new race, so 2.5 can't come soon enough so I can see it. I'm also hoping that while Primals will not be a focus in 3.0 that we'll still see a bunch of them. Primals are one of my favorite parts of this game honestly. I'm also curious who the main villain is going to be for the expansion. But I guess 2.5 will help to line things up for that.

my guess for new race would be the dragons like that one lady in all blue armor during the story line forgot her name

My guess is Midgardsormr as he was mentioned as possibly coming back to life in the latest patch.

I hope it isn't Midgardsormr. I know the war is going to be a big focus, but it'd feel kind of silly for dragons to be the main focus as opposed to other elements at play. But I guess we'll see soon enough. I just hope that some progress is made on some of the other threats built up over 2.0, though I guess the Ascian one should have some progress.

I won't be playing or picking up Dark Knight, since I'm not going to tank anymore, ever again. Only magic stuff from now on. I don't care If I don't get "The Professional" or "The Insatiable." I just don't care for melee or tanking.

I'm excited, I'll buy it once announced. The Japanese event in December should be quite interesting :).

Not so excited about the servers going down but I'll live, maybe SE can send us some sort of cute moogle mail to smooth feathers (even if it is something out of their control, friendly service is never bad).

I'm hoping Dark Knight is a DoM job because I only play those myself, and I'd like to at least try tanking. Paladin and Warrior don't really appeal to me though.

It'll be a DoW I'm sure.

I'll be pretty miffed it is. I'm doubting the gun job is, and we already have more DoM than DoW as it is. I still think it's possible it could wind up as a DoM tank, with a DoW healer for the gun job, giving each side access to all roles at least. But I guess we'll see soon enough.

i think there will be 3 new classes dark knight the gun job and 1 more magic based

We know there's going to be a healer as well. We don't know if Gun class is actually "Chemist" either, which can be a healer.

I'd assume most people expect the gun job to have been a ranged DPS, hence why I'm going with DoW healer. I suppose it could be Gun Mage and give us a Blue Mage through that, but that's about the only other oddball idea I have for it. I can't really see tank coming from it.

Even if it's not exactly the same, something SIMILAR would be nice.

The only one of those that would work other than what I suggested would be a Machinist kind of thing. Musketeer is almost assuredly what Yoshi was talking about when he said "it's not what's expected". It also doesn't make much sense with the "look at past FF's carefully" bit either, since it's not like Musketeer's are in past FF's really.

On-topic, I can't wait for more information on Dark Knight. I've basically decided I'm gonna make a second character using the new race and starting them out as Dark Knight. Or, if for whatever reason you can't start out as a Dark Knight, gonna probably start them as a Marauder or something and switch them over to Dark Knight ASAP.

I'm wondering where his party has gone. Did they rage quit after wiping to t5 too much? Perhaps they kicked him back when Warrior was pathetic, and now he is jumping on the Dragoon bandwagon following the buffs...

Had the trailer gone on for a few more seconds, we'd have seen Derplands Elusive Jump off Ishgard and into the Sea of Clouds, though.

I'm guessing he changed into a Dragoon because dragons are the focus of the next expansion pack. I'll also guess we'll see the rest of his party a little later on.

I feel like I'm missing out on something cause everyone seem to be hyped about that particular trailer yet I was, for the most part unimpressed :/ So, what AM I missing here?

The trailer shows the long awaited AF 2, also shows in a very nice way how the armory system works here, which is still a main appeal despite it being hell to gear up different classes and also shows the main focus of the expansion, the war against the dragons of Dravania.

Also it's one of the few visuals we have of the expansion.

That was a vision / dream of a levequest card. His main class is a gladiator in 1.0 outside that vision.

Fair enough. I guess my own hype might kick in once they release some screenies/trailers that will be more tuned to my own taste & preferences that this one was.

I can't wait to see the new race! (downside being I then have to start leveling all over again....ugh)

They've shown a few things already, including (off the top of my head);

Two new Beast Tribes.
Two Primals.
Several Zones.
Flying Black Chocobo.
Personal Airships.

To be fair here, what we've seen thu sfar has been little more than concept art. With the exception on that one, 5 second clip of a chocobo flying, we haven't (that i know of) seen any REAL zone footage.

Most of what I've seen so far are screenshots. Primals and Airship are the only concept arts I can think of, though they did have some unfinished models of Bismark around iirc.

I suspect that by Christmas time we will know, not only the release date of the expansion, but also the new race.

Yoshi mentioned during one of the fanfests that he wont reveal the new race until Yugiri takes her gear off.
Erm, that came out wrong. I mean that until Yugiri takes off her armor and shows us what she really looks like under there... This is hard :|

When Yugiri reveals what she is, Yoshi will reveal the next race. So whatever Yugiri is, thats what the new race will be. He mentioned that the 'animations are done for the new race', yet Yugiri is currently using a Miqo'te model and all their animations, which leads me to believe that her current model is pure placeholder.

Oh and we wont find out what Yugiri is until at LEAST 2.5. So thats at least january sometime.
