So I can get on it and sit but yet I can't place items on its shelf or hand pictures on it. Are there plans to change this?

agreed this doesn't make sense at all, and frankly I was disappointed I couldn't set something on the shelf or place a nice Hildebrand painting on the chimney
>_> Just going to say, it's a nice hiding spot too, step into the fire, back up, jump up and you're inside the stack lol
But yeah, I hope they change it at some point :/ Kind of let down we can't put anything on it
Woah! When I first saw that picture, I thought you were a doll decoration on the fireplace itself!
Dang, that's a huge fireplace!
I love this fireplace! So much more than manor, but it would be even nicer if it was table top design like you said.
Ya.. This was my reaction when I got it. :[ I love the thing dearly, too.
Elf on a shelf.
They have these same fireplaces in Coerthas and Mor Dhona. In those places, you can see books and objects placed on the mantlepiece. It's disappointing the same isn't possible with ours.
Yes it's my favorite also.
Well, there's still this workaround: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-anywhere-v2.3
The example given is the half-partition which has since been made into a table, but the process still works fine though.
On that note though, that fireplace is enormous and I guess I should make myself one.
Just remove it after you're done placing. I tried it with the fireplace. If you're at furniture limit, just remove 2 items and place them back when you're done.

Also, "Masonwork Stove" is a misguiding name. It's a fireplace, used as a fireplace, throughout Coerthas and some other areas.
It surely can be done, but I'm more talking about if they will be willing spend dev time doing it, as they already have a long list of "to-do". I mean see how partitions took a full patch cycle to be recognized as "wall", likewise with half partitions as "table" (thought the latter was an easier fix than the former)
just make a request and they will grant your wish as they already grant a lot of player request for furniture. What you do is post in this link and wait. If you are really desperate, you can use the "work around" other had suggested. I know you are not the one who open this thread but I ll take this opportunity to drop that link here so ppl can go there for future request for fix or for new funiture
No, seriously, it's checkmarks in lines of code. The "dev time" is clicking 2 things. The surfaces are already there and the two clicks involved: yes, allow tabletop stuff to be put on the part where people can stand, and yes, allow things to hang off the vertical surfaces that work like all other vertical surfaces on furnishings.
Thanks to the fantastic info from the fine folks in this thread. Link first guy OP gives info for PC, town further someone helps with PS 3/4

They should just let you have manual height adjustment for any prop.
Whoop-de-doo if some player wants to break immersion by having floating partitions, chairs, and etc in their house if they deem it fit. Manage to clip out of the house? Well that's what the return to entrance menu is for.
