WAR stat priorities and optimal materia for i110 crafted.

Trying to figure out what's the optimal stat priority and materia set up is for my WAR, currently in i110 crafted. Nearly everywhere I look and people I ask tell me something different and before I get the materia I want to make sure I'm as optimal as possible. I spoke to someone from COL and they said to go SS>ACC>X but from reading some threads on it's not really beneficial. I've also been told to go ACC>DET but again I'm not really sure.

Acc > Det > whatever

ACC to cap>SS to cap*>DET>Crit

At a certain SS you can land another hit during Berserk, don't remember the exact number though.

If you came to post that, you should already know using full Ruby is a sufficient amount of SS to do that. If you aren't using Ruby you're doing it wrong.

would add that i110 crafted armor is lackin somethin like 35 points of def/mdef compared to lorica, i ve checked it again this mornin because i was like how could the same ilvl armor could lack that much def, but it s true, so i don t feel i110 crafted tank gear worth for tankin somethin. Haven t checked other i110 crafted tank piece of gears but probly lackin more n more def. What i dunno actually is 1st if tankin could be still viable while usin those gears, 2nd if meldin it increase the def, but in both cases i don t think so. Was just to let u know in case of u haven t noticed it.

This is completely wrong on every point.

U right, just noticed after checkin database that the hq one gots the same def as Lorica, so just ignore me.

You seem to be asking this question without having any idea of what kind of Warrior you actually want to be. Do you...

Want to maximize your survivability? Meld Accuracy(up to cap), Parry, and use Vitality accessories.

Want to maximize your damage? Meld Accuracy(up to cap), Determination, Crit Rate, and use Strength Accessories.

Want to maximize your damage without destroying your HP? Meld Accuracy(up to cap), Determination/Parry(depending if you want to lean slightly more toward damage or mitigation), and use i90 Crafted accessories melded to have both Strength and Vitality.

Edit: Unmentioned is the 421 Skill Speed necessary to get one extra attack during Berserk. This is also of a high priority to obtain, regardless of your desired build.

SS required for 9 skill berserk depends on latency also. I have about 140-170ms ping and my breakpoint is about 450SkS (2.39GCD). I can almost reach 10 skill berserk with my novus! :P

Hi Oryx! If youre talking about Left side pieces I think the best way to go is Acc>Det>Crit
The BiS for MT and OT is I90 ruby acc. Many reasons for this: Will provide you with enough HP to survive anything in the game, Provides a lot of str to boost self healing from bloodbath and IB, the extra str will also allow you to open with Storms eye instead of Butchers block and still keep hate Provides more damage mitigation when you Parry, and also provides enough skill speed for the extra attack in the berserk window.

The i90ruby acc will be BIS until I110 crafted comes out. dont waste your time with VIT gear. It is useless :D

Meld like so if possible: Det4,Acc4,Vit4,vit4,Det3

I did my # Crunching when 2.2 came out, and here are my thoughts for stat priority on WAR:

VIT : no Brainer
STR : As much as you can. (I have specc'd 30 STR instead of VIT, b/c a couple hundred HP barely makes a difference, Recovering more HP from Inner beast tends to make up for that imo)

Accuracy : Spec to cap for whatever content you are doing. Apparently the end of Final Coil we need ~560 from the front or something Plan for it.
Parry : WASTE. On WAR, a 100-point swing according to my math gives you an exra 2% mitigation. That's really not alot compared to alternatives (I'm Pro for Crit/Det)
Determination + Crit : I find on WAR we typically don't get a lot of Determination. I started speccing Determination where possible (not on melded gear, just i110 loot) and then looking for Crit if nothing gave Det in that slot. Crit+ Det preferred. With that Swing of 100 parry, sacrificing i gave me enough Crit + Det that I was hitting Inner Beasts for literally hundreds of HP more on non-crits and Crits are kus sexy. This means I'm recovering more HP, which actually contributed to the fight with more HP regained by myself than was mitigated by Parry. From rough calculations this proof should hold true without even factoring in Storm's path, which also absorbs HP.
Skill Speed: I TP Starve on long boss fights as is, and need to intentionally slow down my button clicks. unfortunately, we don't have access to invigorate on WAR. bard songs are tpically required elsewere, so I don't call out asking for Paeon if I can help it. Unfortunately, more Skill Speed results in me focusing more on just managing threat, and less on how much damage I'm doing. (lower Skill speed = less TP used. So I aim for more damage/swing)

The interesting thing about SS is that unlike crit or det, it gets stronger the more you have of it. The reason is that each point provides a flat reduction in GCD, so as SS reduces your GCD, the size of that fixed amount relative to your current GCD gets larger. I wonder if there's a point that's reachable with current max stat values where SS overtakes crit in terms of the DPS increase it provides.

That's aside from the benefits of more responsive GCD abilities (easier to time IB when you need to) and a little less time in between IBs.

I'm sure it does increase your dps, but that ignores the TP cost of your GCD abilities. If you are constantly facing TP Starvation, and your bard is running Mages Ballad constantly, you don't want to sacifice their performance by asking for Paeon. Especially if the other actual DPS classes don't need +TP. Now, if you Setup was, for example, NIN, BRD, BLM, SMN, I could have the NIN Goad me, but that isn't the case. As of right now, on T10, If I hammer out my optimal DPS, I'm TP Starved just just before the second set of adds. (~55% hp remaining on imdugud) Increasing Skill Speed Will NEVER result in more TP, so I am forced to lower my DPS due to TP limitation. Thus any discussion theorycrafting the benefit of Skill Speed is moot, UNLESS you have a situation where you can 100% rely on some sort of TP refresh.
