2.4 Aftermath and speculation for future content (Spoilers)

So after 2.4 ends and you defeat Shiva. You find out that Iceheart becomes a vessel of Shiva, and is thought of having the power of the Echo. Believe this is the reason Iceheart wasn't controlled.

I was wondering, would it be possible for anyone to become a vessel of a Primal, if they know how to summon one? Along with that, if the person has the power of the Echo, could they become the vessel of a Primal for a short time and still retain themselves?

This kind of works in a few ways. Now I maybe wrong, but it's just some ideas. Since I really don't see a huge benefit when you choose your Guardian during character creation. Do you think it's possible in the future they might implement like a short power boost, where you turn into one of The Twelve, based off the Guardian you choose?

Along with that idea, I'm not sure if it has been implemented yet, but I remember them talking about more unique Limit Break animations. One of the big benefits I see, is what if they make it so when SMN performs the LB3, they actually become a vessel for a Primal and do their big attack?

Just some ideas, not sure if this was said before or not.

Let's see... the asciens learned that those with the echo could not be tempered
2.2 they learned that mythological figures can be summoned as primals
2.3 had somebody be given the echo but was subsequently absorbed by said primal
2.4 had a Hydelyn-given echo user maintain her will while being a "vessel" for said primal.

Lore-wise I say its possible for us/ other echo users to be vessels of primals. And with the introduction of Auricite then perhaps it won't be a burden on the land

I wonder if we'll see a similar ability with SMN. So new primal egi (levi, ramuh etc) becomes a buff, not a pet. I like abilities infused with lore.

Lore wise it wouldn't be possible, as it would require a lot of prayers and crystals, it wouldn't be good for Hydaelyn either. Unless they make a new discovery on how to summon primals just to justify this.

Now I wonder, will they try to call Zodiark through someone that posess the echo, or even by tricking the player.

Why does everyone assume Zodiark can be summoned, when it's probably a being similar to Hydaelyn and is pretty much the source of aether itself.
If their goal was to summon a special being such as Zodiark (if he's not a crystal), there's faster way to do it (like possessing the different religious leaders to alter the cults, leading to a worship of Zodiark).

The only point in becoming Shiva, for Iceheart, was retaining her will and having the power of a primal. Do you actually think they'd want to give the power of their "One True God" to their sworn opponent, to make them a being able to feed from Aether, and thus giving them the power to actually kill them (just like what Leviathan did to the Sahagin priest).


As for summoning primals, "easy" to think of workarounds.
- Capture the essence of the primal in an auracite (similar to how you'd trap a soul in it),
- Bring an auracite (or a lot), slowly fill it/them over time until there's enough aether to sustain a primal for a certain amount of time.
- Use both the essence you captured along with the aether auracite
- When the aether is depleted, the primal's essence disappear since no more to feed on.
- ???
- profit.

Iceheart isn't in control of Shiva once she completed the summoning, it's Shiva talking, not Ysayle. As for Zodiark we don't know exactly why they can't summon him directly, we don't know if he is the dark crystal ( as he is the zodiac symbol of the serpent and made a previous appearance in the Ivalice games ) or just a very powerful Primal. Truth is that we don't know anything about Zodiark or the Ascians. Maybe it's because Hydaelyn trapped Zodiark or locked him away, it seems that they try to weaken Hydaelyn, by telling to the beastmen to summon their primals ( and even other people, like the little Ala Migho guys that tried to summon Rhalgr ) and sucking the aether out of the planet. At this point we can merely speculate.

The Scions speculate that Iceheart may (or may have not) have been in control of Shiva once the latter was summoned.

Personally, I agree with Urianger's assessment in that Iceheart may have simply been "groomed for the role" (and as such, rather than being simply taken over by Shiva, both their minds/souls worked in unison, given they had the exact same ideals, morality, etc.).

When you think of it, we are constantly being infused by hydelines essence to the point that we may have more of her essense than she has left. We are kinda like her Avatar in this regard.

Maybe once/if Zodiark is summoned and takes over the pc can become Zodiark avatar

It's a stretch but maybe us, the PC's will become the vessel for Zodiark and then be purified of it whilst retaining some of the dark energies from Zodiark..

Thus leading into Drk lore and how we'll learn to wield Zodiark's darkness whilst not necessarily being evil. (Again..it's a stretch, but possible?)

Wouldn't happen in a million years. It seems like Square doesn't want the player character to suffer at all and would rather use NPCs as the vessel for whatever the plot demands while the player does the legwork.

On the other hand that precedent could serve to make it all the more shocking, of course there would eb the issure of playability after that event but considering clones canonically exist...

Of course its also likely that the PC will undergo apotheosis like a certain spoiler character, or an aetherial clone will be made as a side effect until the original is free of Zodiarc (is that happens)

If not my first theory than my other theory, which is also a stretch..

Yes, I know I tend to be trying to lead it into Drk lore but it would make sense of wielding darkness without necessarily being evil, like Yoshida spoke about in FanFest NA.

Yoshi P said (back during the transition of 1.0 to 2.0) that a large group of players 'might' be able to summon a primal as sort of an ultimate limit break. This came up during questions about SMN and why they could only summon little egi and not a real primal. I have to go search for the quote, but I assumed they dropped the whole idea until the 2.4 storyline. Now it makes me think we might see this come up either as a story element where the Scions/player are able to summon and join with a primal (or the twelve) or a game play element where the raid can summon a primal as an ultimate LB.

I'm pretty sure the primal summoning was in regards to an open-world battle. As far as I know we haven't heard any news on the new LB animations since they were announced.

I don't recall if the SMN storyline covers it but the most logical reason we only summon an Egi is because summoning a whole primal in full form would drain us (thus killing us) and the land of aether.

I think the Asciens goal is to make us stronger and to "convince" us to join their side; maybe be the physical vessel for Zodiark. But thay won't happen.

I wouldn't be too surprised, it's kinda reminding me of Kingdom Hearts plot. So I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow were able to clone us (or find an equal to us)

That reminds me of the story-line in Final Fantasy Dissidia, in the 13th cycle in the relation to the heroes and Cosmos' power. Perhaps SE is making the relation of Hydaelin and Zodiark similar to the never-ending conflict between Cosmos and Chaos.

I won't get into details in case other people haven't played Dissidia and want to discover the story through their own means.
