A QOL change entirely because I'm lazy

On retainers, we can store items. Sometimes, when you don't know better, or in a rush to empty up your inventory, you store a valueless item on them. Then sometime later, you could see it wasting space on your retainer, and be like "I should NPC this. But my inventory is full!" and then forget about it.

My suggestion is a command to tell your retainer to sell to NPC (The NPCs are like right there by the bell!). Feel free to have it be a time delay on selling the goods if you want, because if that extra two gil is a big thing for you, I think you may have other problems.

Since you can only buy from market boards, I don't think there'd be a large issue with quick buying and reselling stuff that vendors for more than the item MB cost. Again, even with the MB, the NPCs are RIGHT THERE. If you do that already, it'll still probably be faster to go to the NPC than call the retainer anyways.

Just the items you tell it to sell. Say, for an example, I have an imp wing that's sitting there. It sells for 1g to an NPC, and the same price on MB. I'd rather put something that actually makes money on the MB, so I tell my retainer "go sell this stupid imp wing" and they do.

But we have that feature already, though. It requires the slightest modicum of effort, sure, but we have that feature.

I have always wished for two more retainer inventory options: discard, and convert.

If you have a lot of stuff you don't need stored, it is so frustrating to have to retrieve everything to your own inventory and THEN discard/convert it.

I would like to craft out of my retainers inventory.
I hate having to search for mats then go get them off of which ever retainer has them then run back to my out of the way corner to craft said items.

i find myself saying this more and more... but SWOTR has this feature and it is actually really nice.

it would take rework to define what could be automatically sold tho... because choosing the items individually (telling your retainer what to sell off) would take just as much work as pulling the stuff out yourself and selling. Also, in swtor, this could be done in the field and it would take a couple mins for them to come back but since we only have one companion, thats not our retainers, it would only be possible to do this at the bell. SO then you must ask yourself... are you purposefully putting items into your retainers inventory just to mass sell it all when you could have just turned left instead towards the merchant??? lol stop being lazy :P

When you click on an item in your retainer's inventory, it already brings up a list of options. I don't see any issue with adding a "Sell" option to that list, which will cause the item to be cashed in for its NPC-price value.

It's not a huge deal, but I can see the value in it when it comes to housecleaning.

"Bah, my retainer is full of junk. Let's see what I can get rid of... I can marketboard those, but THESE aren't even selling for NPC price, so I'll just NPC them. There's twenty, though, and I only have four slot left in my inventory. Bah, guess I have to swap out items from my inventory for the stuff I wanna sell, and then come back and load up my inventory again. What a pain! Guess that's what I get for leveling FSH..."

If only there was a way to NPC-sell directly from your retainer, without first putting it into your own inventory!

There is one thing to consider about this...

When you sell items, you sell to a specific NPC... if you add a sell option on the retainer... to which NPC is it selling to?
You must not forget that everything in the game is done with the role-play aspect of it in mind.

Yes, this would be a very convenient change.
For that matter, crafting from retainer inventory. Please make it happen.

You are way over-thinking this.

How about just adding an NPC sell tab to everyone's inventory? You could make it so once an item is put into that section it can not be retrieved, only sold to an NPC. That would prevent people from just using it as extra inventory. I would also like to see a function in which you could tag items that you always want to NPC and have those items go directly on to the new page.

Actually, I have, on occasion, used NPC sales as a temporary "extra inventory". XD Inventory full and I wanna do a synth? Eh, I'll sell these food items to an NPC, do my synth, and then buy them back afterwards. Sold items are only permanently lost once you zone.

The retainer "sell tab" could work the same way. You get money by putting stuff in the sell tab, lose it if you take the item out, and the sell tab erases all contents whenever you change zones...
