FC Bulletin Board or Wish List

I don't know the possibility of something like this being implemented, but I think it would be a really great idea.

A furniture item that would work by allowing FC members to request certain items they are looking for (materials, gil, crafted items or whatever else makes sense). Example:

1. John Doe needs 8 twinthread to complete his dastardly scheme, but doesn't have the ability to gather crawler cocoons and is also really short on money.
2. John Doe goes to this FC Bulletin Board and enters that he would like 8 twinthread.
3. Sometime later, Jane Doe (unrelated) sees that there are new FC bulletin requests and checks the bulletin. Knowing that twinthread are easy for her to come by, she attaches 8 twinthread to John's request on the board.
4. John is informed by a message (similar to when market items sell) that his bulletin board request has been completed.
5. John picks up his twinthread and happily begins working on his evil plans.

Thoughts?

It was mentiond AGES ago by SE that some type of FC house billboard furniture was going to be added due to the extremely limited company board.

But its been a silent thing for probably 6 months now.

I was actually hoping for something like a white board where you can write/draw things on it. And in order to see the content, you just need to examine it and it enlarges it. But I can settle for bulletin board.

This is a wonderful idea. I think it would be great if you could request items to be made as well and attach the mats to your request if you have them.
I don't know how many times I've waited for a certain person to get on because I know they can make the item I need and I don't want to spam the FC chat with my request.

Reminds me how way back the only "internet" there was, was called BBS. Bulletin board systems. Make a website? The item trading can just be accomplished thru fc chest.

This may need to be a whole separate system, but I would also love to see it have options where FC leaders can post requests with a certain amount of FC Seals as a reward. Then FC Leaders could also post items requiring a certain number of FC Seals to get the item. FC Seals would be lost if the FC is left. This would help create a reason some members may want to contribute to the FC.

As an example, if you have a rare tradable minion you can mark it for 50 FC Seals. Well, if the FC really needs gil, so they can upgrade to a bigger estate the Leader could assign 50,000 gil to be equal to 25 FC Seals. If a FC member really wanted that minion, they could pay 100,000 to the FC and earn 50 FC Seals and pay the 50 FC seals for the minion.

Recap: FC Leader would have to place items (items are not just obtained). FC Members would contribute to FC Leaders goals and feel like they are getting something in return.

It would be nice if we could do more with FCs to give FCs more reasons to bond. Maybe one day we'll get these things:

- Crafting requests like Ranko mentioned would be awesome
- Bulletin board for events, jokes, etc
- Monthly/weekly event calendar
- FC ALLIANCE
- Bonus exp, seals, gil, etc for running content with FC members. Like maybe an extra 2-5% per FC member in your party
- Open world alliance content
- FC store. Members could throw items up for sale and the money can be split between the FC chest and the seller.

I feel that there really isn't a reason beyond socializing to join a FC. Adding more incentive might help bring people close together and help make FCs more tightly knit.

There's short messages in the free company menu but there really needs to be one for long ones. Like a notice board.

This would be great. Also, Ranko and Kamikaze's ideas are pretty phenomenal, too. Yes, please on all accounts!!!

I respect your opinion. Though it would be very similar to if when car companies were looking for ways to improve the safety of their cars and someone had an idea to install airbags and seat belts to protect against high speed collisions, then another person saying that it is a waste of research and development, just add a 5mph speed governor so you can't drive so fast.

Yes, a website could do this. But adding features in game is what makes it a luxury ride you want to show off to friends instead of a trade in.

This is an awesome idea, I support this.

It would be awesome if non FC members could leave messages for us too. Like if they liked your house they could be like "yooo your house is awesome!" or whatever, and just leave the message there. xD

I love this idea. It would be great to have an in game bulletin board. My FC has a website and a ts server but rarely ever gets used except for someone needing to look at the guides my fellow FC leaders and I had posted . To have something that gave our members more reason to interact and do things within the FC would be awesome. I also like the quest system that rift uses for guilds and would love for something to that effect be added to FFXIV that would give ppl a reason to go out and do things for the fc while also earning more FC credits

There are currently no plans to create a furniture item that could serve as a message board; we would like players to use the current Free Company tools to communicate with each other.

On a somewhat separate side-note, we understand that the Free Company activity log can clear out very quickly making it difficult to view ongoing activities and we are looking into adjusting this.

At the moment it is difficult to increase the amount of activities saved in the log that are performed by a Free Company over the current 200 that are displayed, but we will be looking into addressing this with filter settings.

lol as long as they take note of it, I can not begin to tell you the amount of times I've put something up on the company board about a event, the event comes and the people in my FC have no idea about it......It's on the Company board! Their response, oh is it?

People don't notice it because it only pops up when you first log in and it quickly disappears once other messages fill the chat log, especially if you usually log in to a populated area like a city (which I'm sure most people do most of the time).

Would be nice if there was a setting to automatically re-post the company message, say once an hour or so.

Well poo :/ Sounds like such a good idea. And I do have to say, there's not really any FC tools to use to communicate. Just sayin.

And kudos Rankojp. Good idea. Good topic creation, and you got a mod response. It's nice they popped in to say something, maybe they'll change their mind with enough likes, who knows. Stranger things have happened lol.

ah good point, never thought of it like that, mainly because I have a Tab just for FC chat only so I think that's why it didn't cross my mind.

The horribly limited mail system? The severely limited MoTD?

You can't be serious.

Can we at least have it so that being in the same Free Company is basically the same as being on each others Friends List? So you can at least send mail to anyone in your Free Company right away? That way you just put a comment up saying "I need X", and people can send you X. Would actually give the Mail Mog a purpose outside Mog Station reward distribution, too. Perhaps let us comment of other players comments, too, so that you don't end up with a dozen people sending you X, instead the first person to just comments on your request informing everyone that they've sent you the item. Could also do with giving the Short Messages tab its own page so it is more prominent and less forgettable.

Would perhaps also be an idea to have a message display every time someone adds a Short Message, so people actually check. Say, I log off for the night, three people add Short Messages requesting something, I log on the next day and as well as the regular Free Company message, I see something like "3 Short Messages have been added", so I check them. Maybe instead of commenting on them there is instead just a subcommand that lets you confirm the Short Message which everyone else can see. So I see that Member #13 wants X, I confirm their message so others know I'm doing it, and mail them X. Can also be used for other things such as event planning; Have a Short Message set up like "I'm doing Treasure Maps <date>@<time>, who wants to come?", and people hit confirm if they can come along, maybe even work it like it's own version of the Party Finder within a Free Company and have a subcommand for joining their party if they're online, rather than asking them for an invite. Pretty much the same as the Party Finder, but rather than the entire server being able to join, just Free Company members can.

The Lodestone FC forums/pages are ok - couple of things could improve:

Show a nice table of members progressions in various elements of the game, ie levels, crafts, content unlocks/clears (I think the FFXI site has this iirc)

Create the same infrastructure for LinkShells. I've just made an LS to help ppl through Coil with ppl from across the server in different FCs. I'm having to resort to using an external site to co-ordinate raids.

Seriously though, thanks for the response. I am less interested in a furniture item or even a technical bulletin board (just used the name for lack of a better name), and more interested in a way to help make FCs interact. While I use the forums and lodestone, not everyone likes to or can easily access these tools while playing. Before being able to use the current in game systems in a convenient way, there needs to be some improvement, which was what my original idea was attempting to provide feedback for.

hello. i sincerely hope you will reconsider. i personally just recently lost like 1.5kk in gil due to the inability to communicate with a FC member that is rarely active and not in my friends list. if there were some alternate means to communication, i may have been able to retrieve those earnings. short message are not a good solution. they can't be immediately seen, nor is there any indication outside of the Short Message tab when a player updates their message.

i may not be currently able to make use of such an implementation. but i am sure there are plenty of others that can.


i think at the very least maybe a new icon in the members list for the Free Company window. like 3 different icons should do. one to show a blank Short Message, 1 to show if the player has one set. and 1 to show if that players short message has changed since the last time you viewed it, or since the last time the other player logged in.

Can't you just add a message board on the plot placard for free company's ?

It's been a long while since I originally posted this idea and I still think it would be a great benefit to FCs to have in game FC tools to allow for reward and quest/requests. The FCs would of course need to be the ones to supply the rewards members can access and out side of the FC these FC seals would mean nothing.

Maybe as simple as an NPC furnish like item that items could be added to with FC currency prices. Tie it to the FC chest if need be.
