crafting failure rates lately

before you tell me its random, and not 100%, or that the level disparity is too high, let me tell you whats happening to me. i'm r22 ALC. for the past 2 days, ive been trying to craft a R25 synth. i have full guild support, crafting gear, ect. i'm failing 8-10 synths in a row. and teh one success i get to break them up, i finish with 60+ durability. its only a 3 rank dispairty, should the failure rate be that high?

no it shouldn't. I havnt seen this, I would suggest you either need a subcraft for the synth you are doing, or you are doing it wrong. 3 level gap should be closer to 90%+ success rate.

Or the synth in question isn't rank 25. Where is your source for it being rank 25? and what item is it?

miter shell x1 = 2 fire crystals. according to YG, its an r25 synth on alchemy. i'm new to alchemy , but i need to rank it up for a sub. i'm not having this problem on ARM or BSM. its driving me crazy!

Do you have chemicking training? its listed as the required training for this craft.
Some crafts can get particular hard if your below its rank and missing the required training.

Miter Shell Recipe Rank is correctly written as 25.
Requires chemicking training like Aeyis mentioned and is biased towards physical craftsmanship as with all fish->crystal conversion recipes.

Which tool are you using? One annoying thing about these crafting posts is that no one seems to be posting exactly what gear they are using - How do we know what recommendations to make then?

You use EXP not SP for recipe rank determination.

I can work out the rough level of a synth quite successfully with the sp gained. That xp calculation isnt going to do you much good when they demolish it.

Until then, I can work out the "exact" level of a synth with EXP. Using SP becomes increasingly more inaccurate as you move towards -20 ranks.

I was having a surprising amount of trouble with crafting undyed cotton cloth for a leve the other day. I'm rank 20, had the clothshop support, and was barely able to complete most of the synths. It was failed standard synth after failed standard synth. Each set of crafted cloth had an element destabilize. The last synth in particular destabilized after using standard synthesis as my initial command, got chaotic, and destabilized a second time, causing me to fail.

I tried crafting more undyed cotton cloth after I finished the leve, and had zero problems. It was a very unusual occurrence which left me wondering if the leve was a bit messed up.

You don't have Weaving Training (or whatever it is for making cloth), you will be heavily subjected to RNG.

Training is very very important.

RNG? Is that an abbreviation of "range" or does it stand for "random number generation"? Either way, I've crafted tons of cotton cloth yet have never had a consistent problem like this before. And like I said, I crafted (about half a stack) more cotton cloth after I finished the leve, and had no issues. And by "no issues," I mean I was able to hammer the standard synth button and never get below about 60-70 durability, and no destabilizations. I might have just been really unlucky, but the consistency of destabilization and failure for each synth in the leve was unusual.

RNG stands for random number generation~

As tymora mentioned lacking the required training skill can cause you to do a lot worse seemingly sudden, usually accompanied by unstable elements.
It doesnt effect your normal rate, but rather the chances of getting unstables, possibly also critical failures.
Hence why your seeing easy successes any time the training skill increased difficulty doesnt kick in.

the fish recipes with 1 crystal is 23 recipes, the ones who need 2 is 26 recipes. But you need the guild book for crystal transmuting. I am lvl 27 and still only get 25% of these ..

"With 1 crystal" means uses 1 lightning crystal? Or gives 1 crystal?

Fish to crystal recipes either ends with a 1 or a 5. (e.g. 1, 11, 21, 25, 31, 35, 41)
The only 25 recipes uses Miter Shell, and the only 35 recipe uses Blacklip Oyster (Someone in SE probably made a typo or something.)

And do you have chemicking?

Nether newt is a 26 recipe ..
