Sch Seeking Advice for t9

So my group been working on t9 for the last 2/3 weeks and we seem to be struggling quite a bit. Our dps is a lil on the low side, getting 6 meteors normally. But that's the dps issue, mine is dealing with the ravensbeak and it dots. I remember when the first and 2nd ravensbeak will be coming out but not any after. Also, I normally have to do a countdown I my head for when the dot will explode but id sometime lose track due to dealing with the other mechanics and micro managing Eos. Lots of time, I would cast Aldo as soon as I see ravensbeak start, but normally, the cast will go off too late. I tried virus once the cast start but it doesn't seem to have an effect. The thing that kills our tank the most in p1 is the ravensbeak dot. Does sacred soil work for the dot? Also, any additional advice is appreciated.

Tank should be popping cooldowns to help mitigate the damage, along with your Adlos. Even if you're late on the Adlo for Ravensbeak, the cooldown popped should keep the tank alive, however, try to predict when Ravensbeak is gonna come, that way you get Adlo off beforehand. And then just pop an Adlo before the dot goes off. You shouldn't have to hit all your Adlos for the tank to survive tho. Either he's undergeared for the fight, or he's not popping cooldowns

Judging from the post, your group is solo tanking. In this case, healing has to come from both healers, not just you. Ideally you want a White Mage's Stoneskin up and an Adloquium from you for the beak and before the blight goes off. However, the tank can survive just fine with just adloquium - Assuming the tank is properly geared for the solo tank strat.

However, expecting a stoneskin from the white mage is in vain in a lot of cases. If we were to assume the tank will have to do with just your adloquium's: Make sure Adloquium is up 2-3s before the Blight goes off and cast another Adloquium right after. The second adloquium will generate a shield that has effect right after the explosion and, if timed well enough, will heal up the tank a bit as well. To be entirely sure you can toss out a lustrate the moment the timer hits 0, utilizing the healing effect delay.

* The tank must use some big CDs here. As Dalamud Dive lands, Raven's Blight will go off as well and a Raven's claw will follow right after. This combination will most likely destroy your tank (unless there was a tank swap)

Easiest way to deal with Raven's beak/blight is to make sure there is a aldo and/or stoneskin on the tank. Even with those up, Raven's Beak may hit quite hard, your tank should be using CD's and you should be saving your lustrates for the tank till you get the timing and rotations down.

1st and 3rd beak should be mitigated with Adlo + virus from the sch. Im assuming your tank is pally, if that the case he needs to stoneskin himself. If his CNJ isnt 34 tell them to stop being a scrub and go get SS. As sch if u see that blight will explode and your tank isnt topped off, dont be afraid to lustrate them BEFORE blight explodes. Ideally blight explosion should be taken at full hp w/defensive cooldown from tank. The blight explosions should also have a sch Adlo and pally self stoneskin.

The second beak u can toss out E4E as Nael lands from Lunar Dynamo- Meteor stream combo. U have about 2 GCDs to prep your tank up. You can drop a sacred soil here. If timed correctly soil will mitigate both ravensbeak and the blight explosion. Soil + E4E mitigation + plus your adlo should be more than enough.

My groups dps is high so we only see 3 beaks; 4 meteors.

You mentioned lack of dps. You can help them out by having selene out and DoT'ing Nael whenever u feel safe. Seems like your group is just starting progression on this fight. Ideally WHM should be solo healing most of the first phase with sch only leaving cleric stance to prep for beaks. But that will come as you become more familiar with fight. If you feel safer using Eos like i did during progression. U can still use her, but i recommend not bring her out till golem phase since there is no heavy AoE damage on first phase. That way u can have her around to mitigate megaflare with fey covenant but still help the dps with selene.

WHM needs to have SS up for blight. My group users a WAR tank and he cannot always have a CD up. Also ignore topping everyone off after raid wide damage in favor of keeping the tank topped off. There's plenty of time after to heal the raid or even let your fairy single target do it for you once the tank's health is stabilized.

No idea, I never tried. But I figures it does. I never use soil in T9 (except for mega flare): Waste of stacks imo

The third Raven's Beak comes about three-four GCDs after Nael lands on the double Meteor Stream, so use that as your reference point. Additionally, the third Raven's Beak is also the deadliest of the bunch, as it is preceded with a Dalmund Dive and two Raven Claws for some pretty spiky damage. My MT in our group tends to use a heavy CD at this point to help mitigate this spike.

Once you can start predicting Raven's Beaks, you can pretty much stay in DPS mode for the remainder of P1. What I like to do is the following:

-Aldo just before Raven's Beak
-Begin to cast Physick as Raven's Beak is about to be cast (I have Nael focus targeted and usually begin this cast at the moment the cast bar passes the capital R of the ability)
-Cleric's Stance - Casted DoT + instant DoT (based on what DoTs are on / about to fall off / not on), remove Cleric's Stance
-Adlo (Tank should have about 3-4 seconds worth of the debuff left at this point)
-Physick (this should clip the MT as soon as the explosion goes off)

The third beak will as prove to be the most problematic of the bunch because the debuff tends to explode just after Nael uses Ravensclaw, putting a sizable chunk into the mitigation provided by the healers if casted too early.

To help, I tend to E4E the tank after the double Meteor Stream. I also Virus Nael at that point due to how spike-tastic that part is. If you Virus the very first Raven's Beak, you'll have Virus back up by the third Beak.

i know a WHM main, but the rotation was already posted. he only pushes 4 meteors and only get 3 ravens so i dont know any past what he told me but his thing is:
1. after 1st stardust, 2 sec, cast stoneskin (i guess adlo for you) ravensbeak
2. near the end of the ct for lunar dynamo he starts running into the middle and start casting med 2 (youd cast succor before hand i believe) after med 2 goes off he uses regen and then immediately after cast stoneskin (aldo for you) ravens beak
3. after 3rd stardust run to the middle, after 2 indicator bonuces, he start casting divine med 2 (succor/whispering dawn for you), meteor stream goes off, sc med1 near the hit players (physik and embrace the lowest players who may have doubles), 2nd stream goes off, 7/8 seconds after nael lands, cast stoneskin(aldo for you) ravens beak.

note: always stoneskin and adlo before tank blows up
1st time start casting stoneskin/adlo at the 7 sec mark on the debuff then run and stack for beam
2nd and 3rd time start casting around the 5 sec mark on the debuff.

during golems, the sch dps the entire time really with heals only going off when needed.

as you get comfortable with that you can toss dots inbetween heals to help push the dps along

What should the avg dps be to be pushing at 4 meteors?

250min. Even with 2 tank strategy you should never get any more than 4 meteors with the current gear.
If you are I would suggest using selene or having the white mage solo-heal phase 1, easily doable.

Third Ravensbeak is after 3 auto-attack following the first Double Meteor Stream.
Fourth Ravensbeak is after 1 auto-attack following the 5th Stardust.

5 Meteor is fine I think, but try not to get to 4th Ravensbeak.

Hi! Best thing I can suggest is to learn how to DPS the first 2 phases in particular. Once you have the timing for beaks down, the healing requirement for T9 isn't actually that great for the most part. The DPS requirement is much steeper at first though and as such, you'll simplify the encounter *massively* if you can ensure you skip the second Lunar Dynamo without fail, there's a combination of hits after that that will wipe out your tanks.

And before I get called out on it, yes more DPS is possible, the SCHs I run with routinely pushed 250+ although that was me near enough solo healing most of the encounter.

Thanks for all the tips! I was able to remember when raven's beak will hit by reading these advice over and over lol. We finally got into hevensfall so I'm happy that we are progressing again. Not just need to figure this phase out and we are almost in the clear lol

First off, you need to figure out why you are getting 6 meteors. if solo tanking, this is a huge dps problem and even with 2 tanks should still get 4 at the most.
once u know rotation, ravensbeak is just muscle memory, only the 3rd is deadly because of ravensclaw/blight. The tank could do u a favor and call out blight explosion when 3-4 secs are left.
if PLD. can stonskin self on the first 2 blight.
since u made it to Heavensfall, if you get more than ONE ghost with solo tank, u made need to parse/help those with low dps improved. normally dps is lower in progression because everyone is nervous/unfamiliar with mechanics but it shouldn't be significantly low.

Another note on Ghost: Again if PLD. I would go 1 full combo rotation, and on 2nd combo rotation ghost will pop. WHM stays close to Nael, and PLD will COVER the WHM as it will draw ghost aggro, pop rampart, when ghost is within combo range, voke+savage/halone.
with this you/dps dont have to move at all if the ghost pops far away.

I mostly DPS on SCH in a two-tank (one tank full DPS, no swaps) setup. I pop soil in the middle of ravensbeak castbar. Let's it last for beak, the melee swipes following it, and the blight afterwards. It lets the WHM keep the tank up through all of it solo with Selene while I go back to more DPS.

Having a competent WHM for T9 is a godsend for DPSing on SCH.
