Give us alternative tracks to choose from/cycle through or let us disable it... it's painful.
I was looking for an option to do away with Battle music yesterday...I want to hear the dungeon music only!
Please consider :D
I just want the boss music gone. Coil is less enjoyable with that one song played in EVERY fight.
Boy how I wish I could switch to the 1.0 battle theme...
I just mute the music, then play my own tunes >.>...
Yes, PLEASE! Please!!! let us turn off battle music, FATE music and the repetitive music clips that play when you start or finish a quest/leve
PLEASE!!!!
Champions did something really cool with this. In the game (usually through system settings or some such), there would be a music program controller. Either iTunes, WinAmp, etc. It wouldn't start up the program within itself, it would just control an already active instance of either program.
Would be nice to have something like that available, then use such a feature to control what plays when, but under the condition that a certain track has already been heard at least once.
No, leave the music there or someone loses there job :(
Geez, anyone would think this is the only FF game with a repetitive battle theme (*cough* FFVII's Fighting *cough cough*).
Nah - I personally like the music.
Want to change it? mute it and listen to your own?
The problem, as has been pointed out before in other threads on the topic, is that some of us only want to do away with the battle theme, not the rest of the music. It's like telling people who wanted to get rid of the chocobo music to just mute the game and listen to something else. See how they (we) got the option to not play mount music? It's basically the same request, but for combat music.
Combat music is absolutely garbage; it really hurts my ears so I had to mute it. Square Enix needs to implement an e-radio in-game like most modern MMOrpgs will do.
I only put on the bgm slider to the fullest when doing primals, cause I love those fights with the music
But I did Hullbreaker isle yesterday, and the BGM played whilst in combat, with the exception of the boss battles. This is the case for other level 50 dungeons too.
I can listen to Calamity Unbound all day lol
It's the regular combat music that grinds my gears.
When it pops up, my thoughts are:
"Crap. I hope I don't get slowed on my mount."
"Crap. I can't teleport until I run away far enough to disengage."
"Dammit, something insignificant and weak is pestering me."
"Ugh, spiritbonding is soooo boring."
I wish I could disable combat music so much. Sometimes I enter a dungeon with a great soundtrack that I don't want it to stop, you get into a fight and it's the same crap until the end.
Battle music is great, every ff game has amazing tracks, but c'mon, if there's a theme of an instance there, why not give us the option to either listen to that or battle music?
I would love this. Most the time I roll with the music off. I find the buttrock that comes with many boss fights to be a distraction. If we had the option to listen to the lovely ambient music that exists in the rest of the dungeon, I'd probably be more inclined to keep the music on.
1.0 battle tracks were so SO much more complex in melodIES than this ONE plinkyplonky track that is for every fight on the field.
FIX it fix it now.
Also on the topic of Soken he has a bad habit of making extremely short loops.
They get old very fast because during one fight you might end up hearing the same loop over four times and it's terrible.
I agree. I remember back when XI forced mages (who never had to engage the mob) to listen to the battle music. It was AWFUL. Some of my fondest memories was listening to the music in Caedarva Mire, only occasionally interrupted by the bleating of an imp. Good times. I'd also like to disable battle music and only hear the dungeon. The battle music is mostly terrible, especially after listening to it loop over, and over, and OVER again.
I totally disagree with anyone who says the battle music in this game is bad or annoying. This MMO has some of the best music I've ever heard in an MMO. That being said, I do wish the dungeons had their own unique themes (maybe even battle themes) instead of the same themes used over and over, or that those that have unique themes would be allowed to play them and skip battle music entirely. Imagine, for instance, the Pharos Sirius theme extended, with unique encounter triggers that change the music subtly.
this is definatley a mood/immerson breaker...
its like turning off the sound of a movie and just reading the subtitles while you hear your electro funky music..
no this is not right.. i want to experience the game and not "David Guetta XYZ". plus i cant concentrate that good on whats going on in the game. sounds strange, but thats the way it is for me ;)
i mute the music and play ffx soundtrack just not a fan of the composer for xiv and that soundtrack fits in well with everything maybe they could let us change to previous final fantasy music scores that would be cool
People arguing against this OPTION...
Seriously, if you want it to stay the same just keep it enabled come patch day.
For the new dungeons, I do miss the battle BGM at times to be honest. If SE could incorporate randomness of it playing, that would be great.
I absolutely concur. It's especially obnoxious when its CONSTANTLY switching in and out of the battle music. It's like someone channel flipping the radio. It's awful. And it really takes away from the environment. Having a toggle option like the chocobo music would be perfect.
^good analogy... it is just like that; it's irritating!
You think that is bad? Try hitting up a gathering cluster that is on the border of an ironically named pair of zones with half in one region and half in the other (and you need at least one from the other side to reset the other two). I speak specifically of the Silent something or other and urgoths gift in the south shroud, The field music plays in the Silent somethings half but there is no music ever when you enter the urgoths gift section. I just want to hear my field music while i gather all the stuff i need for an hour and it would be nice if it didn't cut out every third node.
If they add things to make fighting less musical i want stuff to make my gathering work more music filled! like the option to play the region's theme on loop until I enter a new area entirely or turn it off. this could be a similar option choice to playing dungeon themes on loop without interruptions.
/signed.
Kills the immersion so badly.
YES. PLEASE!! I'm walking through an area (coerthas for example), and hoping to listen to the good part until i reach my destination, and then a beast just catches ur smell's smell from a hundred miles away, and oh God... the battle music starts. Makes me wanna punch the screen and get it over with. Sometimes i take a different route from the beast to avoid triggering the battle music, and sometimes i just stand there and wait. It's a HINDRANCE, SE. PLEASE do som'n about it :)
The boss theme being the music in Coil is awful. How can they not design a unique track for what is supposed to be the cutting edge of content is beyond me, even if there was just one Coil theme across all 3 raids that would be enough. The standard battle theme is equally garbage and painful to listen to.
Grekumah?
Please tell us this will happen.
SE are you coming?
Camate please?
Some of the new dungeons don't even have a battle music. Which is awesome.
I absolutely hate hearing battle music in the overworld and wish I could turn it off. I don't need to hear dumb music every time some dumb thing aggros me, thanks. Nor does having the music for an area being interrupted for every 3 second trash mob battle make any sense whatsoever.
I think if they had a better variety of music (like different selections of battle themes), this would be a non-issue.
Or maybe, I'm wrong.
Most of the time you'd probably be right but one day, while starting a battle with Leviathan EX, my favorite internet radio station played John Tesh's Roundball Rock, and it was epic...
