Worked as intended?
I don't see anything wrong with the picture.
The Player obtaining the items seems to be a ninja as well, are you sure that he did not also use mug on the target?
*Edit: btw you better edit the photo, posting Player names is a big no in this Forums (banhammer and such....)
That sounds wrong to me. Never worked that way in XI, the THF kept what the stole.
Even by the description this Mug is more like the Treasure Hunter trait. FFXI Mug instantly rewarded the THF with more gil. This Mug gives a chance at increased loot which is exactly what the TH trait did. Working as Intended it looks like.
All I can think of is the other NIN had mugged too? If not maybe it just gives items to random pt member. Which sucks. Maybe fill out a bug report just in case.
Was Coras the other Rogue? I wonder if they didn't account for 2 Rogues in the same party when they thought up the Mug ability. Or it could just be you're mugging stuff for the party so it randomly goes to a party member like all loot distribution.
The items will go to anyone in the party it's working right
I don't know, to me it sounds kinda ordinary when you're in a party. Think of it, the loot found in chests (potions etc.) are randomly given to any member, no matter who opened the chest.
Actually, from careful examination of that there Mug text with a team of highly skilled common sense scientists(heheh)... Mug isn't stealing anything at all, its essentially applying "Treasure Hunter" to the mob if we're using XI Terms, its creating an additional drop chance when the enemy dies. I get the use of the abilities might imply a stolen good and in past FF titles "Mug" stole an item directly... it works differently in XIV, the items aren't put in the inventory when using mug, it "Increases the amount of items dropped by target" when you defeat the enemy.
It creates an additional chance to obtain loot from the enemy, which like all loot, will be auto-sorted randomly.
You're the fools.
...Clearly 2 crystals does not depict the drop amount actually being increased!
But seriously though, it's just a slight reminder of how I hate how drops are handled in this game, especially in the open world. One thing to note that the text for additional loot explicitly states that mug was successful, and only on the screen of the person who used it. The other NIN in the group didn't see the text at least. You'd think at least with a skill like this, it'd generate a random loot from the table to go into my inventory. As a new class with possibly overpowered mechanics/rotations, all things in this world should belong to me.
See it as a gift to the party as a thanks that you are in the party ^^
Can the skill also generate rare items, like 1 star mats?
Atma are not awarded by enemies, but by the FATE itself, so no.
Ponies are not awarded by the enemy, but by a treasure chest, so no.
What really bugs me about mug, is that the tooltip doesn't specify that it has a "chance" to mug items from an enemy. All its says is that it increases the amount of items dropped by an enemy. I feel like it should actually say "It increases the chance that enemy will drop additional loot" or something so its less confusing. In the last 35 levels, I have only seen MUG work once, and yes, before you ask, Ive been using it as the killing blow.
