Bought my Private Room, left the FC, went to a new FC & found out I had to dish out the 300k all over again.

Bought my Private Room, left the FC, went to a new FC & found out I had to dish out the 300k all over again.
Kinda unnecessary.
Why? That doesn't make any sense. If you leave a plot, you have to purchase a new one. No refunds. If you leave your FC and also your private room, what sense would it make for it to magically transfer your payment there? It would promote FC hopping, that's pretty stupid.
^not everything in a game or MMO is about making sense. An Onion wouldn't be worth 500k if it were. If everything made sense, the game wouldn't charge me 300k for a room at all.
In many games, you unlock features one time that carry with you.
And people will change FCs regardless of this change. You can't be serious.
The fleeting nature of FCs is the reason why I will never drop so much gil on a personal room.
I rather rent a room at the inn.
Except everyone shares that same add-on through some magical Narnia portal.
The magic could explain how our Personal Room transfers into our new FC Estate.
When private rooms for FCs were created they did say explicitly what would happen if you leave your FC. None of the money is refunded, I believe it was created so that you would not FC-hop(what millions of people did to get the best loot and statics in WoW).
Do people really think that dangling a 300k private room over someones head will prevent them from FC hopping?
People who FC hop, probably wouldn't want a private room to begin with. At least not for 300k.
Buying a private room requires no work.
If other work you've done for the FC is whats holding you down to that FC, then it isn't private rooms holding you down now, is it? A private room would be a quick excuse as to why you'd tell someone you're really not sure if you want to leave your FC or not, that is usually all. But if the value of the private room outshines whatever reason you're wanting to leave that FC to begin with, you're probably not an FC hopper, or the very reason you want to leave it isn't that big.
FC hopping isn't just leaving a single FC for whatever reason to join another. Everyone does that, some people just don't click with some FC's, be it drama, it isn't what they're looking for, or perhaps they got offered a position in a static with another FC.
FC hopping is "bunnying" through them.
come on, 300k is super easy to make even for casual player
Stick with one FC instead of jumping around. Don't buy a room unless you don't plan on leaving that FC.
^my point is it doesn't & it doesn't need to...
Also +1 to Ditto & Granyala's posts.
Unless that door just leads to the corridor from which your room is accessed =D They just don't show that corridor because it's easier on system resources to timeskip past the potentially endless corridor :3
And to prevent people from saying it's not visible from the outside, that door might just as well lead to an underground access tunnel and.... well, excavating a new room and fitting in those automatic lights on the wall that pretend to be windows.... surely that would be a lot more expensive than just 300k gil :3
It's a feature-unlock, makes sense to be one-time only.
The 300k is not a price that you pay to unlock a feature. With the 300k, you purchase a room located within the current FC and since you have obtained a permit to use room within the FC, you will gain access to a feature with which you decorate the room in question.
By leaving the FC, you’ve explicitly decided to “demolish” the room while returning your belongings which have not been permanently bound to the FC room. So, when switching FC’s you will be required to purchase a room within that FC to gain access to it as well as the feature with which you can decorate it.
It is the same when you decide that you want to move to a different plot al together, whether or not you’ve purchased the plot of land for personal or company use. If you’ve purchased a small plot for 5 Million and spend 450k (using my own server as an example) on a permit, you will have permission to place a house on the given plot. If you decide to move to a different plot, you will have to purchase both the new plot as well as the permit to place a house on that new plot you’ve purchased.
Purchasing a room in an FC or permit to build a house on a plot of land doesn’t mean that you “physically” own the room/house. You get permission to use it or build a house on it. So, you cannot take the entire room/house with you when you move to a different plot/FC. Only the stuff you put into that room/house will be returned to you when you choose leave the FC/plot.
This rule also applies when you want to switch “Private Rooms” within the same FC. If you want switch from “Private Room #13” to “Private Room #1”, you will have to “Demolish” your current room “Private Room #13” and purchase “Private Room #1” in order gain permission to use it.
In short, think carefully before purchasing a room within an FC or a plot of land. You are paying to gain access to that specific room within the FC or to place a house on that specific plot.
I'd of preferred for personal rooms to have been done through capital cities and not gated behind FC housing.
Nope - you'll actually get the house permit back, "only" the plot is relinquished without refund ;) So if you'd stay in the same state and would like to build the same size of the house you can re-use the house permit, if you want to change state or house size you'd need to purchase a new pemit as well indeed but you can still sell the old one. Cosidering though that major part of the "house" (plot and permit) is the price of the plot it's a smal consolation anyway ...
Lol, some people just don't get housing, if you want to use inn room as your personal room and hide from rest of game, be my guest. Some of use actually enjoy having friends gather at our rooms while we wait for queues or just want to chat. Having that feature gated behind an FC house has myself and a few others a bit worried since even the largest most successful FCs don't last forever. If your FC falls apart, that 300k and any permanent furnishings are gone. Would put myself and I'm sure many others minds at ease if we knew for sure our rooms were secure.
Since Inn rooms are mentioned and many ppl have stated the 300k is the questionable road block due to FC disbanding or changing.
Why can we still not craft in an Inn Room. Some FCs don't even care about housing anyway. Inn Room has a retainer bell and even the venture feature can get ppl mats. Seems like a simple feature to add.
Be happy that there isn't monthly fee for housing.
I'll be blunt: This makes absolutely no sense. None.
You're buying for a room inside the current FC house you have. It's not a magical device that teleports for you and never was it even explained that this is what the room was. Therefore, you're literally paying for an extension within the FC. You are agreeing that paying 300k is basically that.
This isn't some addition to your character. It's an addiction to the FC. That's it. If you leave the FC, you lose that perk. It's not a character perk; considering the room is solely for vanity reasons, it's a gil sink.
Tying it to the character would require it to be reconsidered completely. This is why personal housing was introduced: you want your own place, get one of those. I will say that i completely understand price and spacing issues can cut into that but I vehemently disagree with having the personal room come with you no matter what FC you do. This is coming from someone who has a personal house AND a personal room in my FC.
I think it makes plenty of sense.
It's a virtual game, not everything from the real world applies.
300k flat-fee for a room in an FC house doesn't make sense if you're trying to apply that sort of logic.
On most servers you can make the money for a company room in days, not weeks or months.... actually in the latter you could make enough for a Large house of your own. 300K is a drop in the bucket compared to say Materia.
