T13 has been cleared? Last I heard only two groups had even accessed it.
Lets just say final coil didn't really introduce A LOT of new mechanics as in :
1. T10 is a mix of T1's rear conal aoe, T2's rot for tethers, T5's phase3 AOE for Electrification, T6's shared damage beam for Wild Charge, T9's meteor stream for heat lightning.
2. T11 is a mix of Ultima weapon, T1 T2 ADS, T8's gaseous bomb and relic hydra
3. T12 is similar to T5's very strict DPS check
I would say SE need to hire a new content designer for fresh ideas instead of rehashing and mixing well known mechanics
Don't forget some groups have been practing on savage coil. There was no savage between first and second coil, thus the raiders didn't have that practice.
FCoB will be a challenge long enough for the majority of the raiding community as well as overall community. Raiding Community != The handful of high-end gamers who put 12h+ a day after patch hits...
6-8 were also cleared before the first reset of 2.2 (granted that was only by one group). The best groups in the world are always going to push the content harder than even the devs can anticipate. These fights will definitely be a solid challenge to the majority of raiders for a while.
Just remember that there are some pretty big no-lifers out there who don't sleep.
All I see on youtube are kill videos from turn 10 and 11. The Coil is definitely not done yet.
Maybe the player base has just gotten that much better.
This is also the case. You had to learn much in T8/T9. If you got the time to clear savage, then you learned even more. All this knowledge about your job and being on-top of your game definitely helps now for FCoB. I don't want to image what Savage FCoB will look like at 2.5 :D
People need to keep in mind that the majority of clears are comIn from hardcore raiders. This means these players have maximized and perfected their roles in the games. Not to mention most have cleared Savage coil. I'd say that the use of melded vitality accessories have given them a slight edge.
I guess I thought there was going to be a gear check for T11+ since during the Live Letter the developers said only T10 would be able to be downed by hardcore raiders once patch hit.
The groups clearing t12 have been practicing hard. They have savage clears. One group was doing coil 1-4 in i55 gear and also did 6-9 in i90.
Those are extremely hard to do battles which made them extremely prepped for FCoB.
My group has 15 t9 kills and we are having DPS problems.
fCoB is tunes correctly if it was much higher very few would clear between now and 3.0
Yah they can't tune these fights based on the 2-3 top end FCs playing or they wouldn't get cleared by more than like 3 groups before the expansion.
The final coil is extremely well-tuned. Almost staggeringly better than the nine fights we've seen before this. But it's true that gear is secondary to skill here, as it should be - which means that yes, the most talented 50ish players in the world can down t12 after the launch of patch.
You can complain about shit being too easy when you clear it in the first week. 10 and 11 is easy, 12 and 13 are significantly harder. I'd rate 12 on the same level as 8 or 9 savage in i110.
I except plenty of casual raiders to get butthurt real quick once they rush to claim that FCoB is too hard.
24 people out of hundreds of thousands have beaten T12.
Too easy. Please buff.
Just watched some T11-12 stream and while first phases seems rather straight it really start to get intense in final pahses(specially in T12), and to me it seems that communication plays even bigger role in there than on previous coils. +1 for SE making epic finale before expansion.
Lol - "There is no video so it never happened" ...
i remember seeing an T13 kill Picture in a blog...
/edit: Found it...
Final coil punishes mistakes. It's the only coil that buffs the boss if you die or screw up a mechanic. The mechanics aren't so bad but it demands perfection for 99% of the run.
If you look at WoW, for example, MMOs realistically have three content gates: time, gear, and bugs (ala C'thun). FFXIV doesn't have a time gate (all four bosses accessible on release); hasn't had a bug gate since Twin's tornadoes (and even that was doable); and doesn't have a gear gate because each Coil release has had simultaneous crafted gear you can quint-meld to be max-level equivalent (or better!).
FFXIV is pretty content-light as it is so time-gates would be awkward. I don't think anyone would seriously propose bug gates as a fix. I think they should stop releasing quint-meldable combat gear as it trivializes progression.
There really aren't alternative gates that can't be solved with enough raid-hours.
But aside from that, there's still a ton of people who haven't cleared t5 or t9 and the vast majority won't clear t13 pre-xpack. Complaining because the top 1% has cleared content is just ridiculously blind to context. Like saying basketball is too easy because Kobe scored 81 points in a game.
Almost every raid video I see uses one WHM and one SCH. Especially for Final Coil - I'm pretty sure not having a Scholar would make Turn 11's attack post-add-phase near impossible to survive, and you want a WHM for the burst heal after because it'll still nearly flatten your entire party.
Also when do you even have time to reapply Stoneskin on everyone mid fight?
I wouldn't say FCoB is too easy. In almost every MMO raiders are slowed down by gear gating.
While this is true for FCoB as well... you can circumvent the gear gate with the new crafted gear.
This doesn't mean that FCoB is "too easy". It just means that raiders don't need to sit around for a few weeks farming gear from FCoB in order to pass the next gear gate to beat a fight.
If anyone thinks FCoB is too easy, feel free to start farming T13 now. It shouldn't be too much of a problem for you.
