Feast of Famine

I know this might probably have to go to quests, but fishers are more likely to look here.
So anyone know exactly we are supposed to turn in for this quest?
I caught one big fish form each of Thanalan, Shroud, and La Noscea but that's not it. I know this is before Nepto Dragon so it can't be all big fish... Any thoughts or ideas?

I'm going to assume you have to catch the new "living legend" big fish that are untradable. That would be Nepto Dragon, Endoceras, Kuno the Killer, Namitaro, Helicoprion, and Shonisaurus. Now which of these fish count I do not know, since there are more than three here. Nepto Dragon is La Noscea, Helicoprion is Thanalan, and Shonisaurus is Coerthas. That much is certain. I am assuming Namitaro is Black Shroud, and have no idea what Endoceras or Kuno are, but La noscea and Thanalan are good bets.

There could be two stages to this quest - first you catch the living legends in La Noscea (Endoceras), Thanalan (Kuno the Killer), and Black Shroud (Namitaro), then after that you are asked to catch another three even more legendary living legends - Nepto Dragon (ultimate aquatic fish, special fishing spot in La Noscea), Helicoprion (ultimate dunefishing fish), and Shonisaurus (ultimate skyfishing fish) - making you the ultimate fisher of land, sea, and sky.

Objectives

• Deliver living legends fished in La Noscea, the Black Shroud, and Thanalan to Wawalago.
• Deliver living legends fished in Coerthas and Mor Dhona to Wawalago.
• Speak with the steersman at Costa del Sol.
• Catch the Nepto Dragon from the privateer, and deliver it to the saltworn captain.
• Speak with Wawalago at Fisherman's Bottom.

- Wawalago certainly has a way with words, though which way that is, not even the Navigator can say. Console yourself by catching the living legends sighted in La Noscea, the Black Shroud, and Thanalan, and present them to Wawalago at Fisherman's Bottom on the lower decks of Limsa Lominsa.

- You have delivered the living legends to Wawalago. Even as the guildmaster heaps praise upon you, a puller arrives with alarming news that the ordinarily fertile Rhotano Sea has ceased to yield its bounty. Wawalago suspects that the currents may be to blame, and pledges to have Sisipu look into the matter. Meanwhile, he urges you to continue your hunt for living legends. Make your way to Coerthas and Mor Dhona, and deliver the creatures you capture to Wawalago.

- Too many legends spoil everything, according to Ascelyn. The scholar arrives with news that the fisheries along the Rhotano seaboard face extinction unless the Nepto Dragon is removed from circulation. Like many monsters, it currently resides in Costa del Sol. Go there and speak with the steersman.

- You come to a quick understanding with the steersman. His boat will take you to the Rhotano privateer, where your destiny awaits in the form of a giant fish. If you should catch this Nepto Dragon, the saltworn captain is keen to take a measure of the fish...and you.

- You have killed a legend to save the local economy; such is the trade-off in these calamitous times. Your erstwhile opponent now lies limply on deck, awaiting Ascelyn's delicate knives. It occurs to you that Wawalago may share your sense of loss, and so seek him out him you shall.

- Wawalago's sense of loss has less to do with mystique and more to do with meunière. However, his regard for you is sincere and robust, and a day of hard fishing has left you famished. Not all legends endure, but they sure are tasty, especially when paired with a chilled lowland white.

Thanks for the fish names! Been trying to figure out which fish I needed, now I have an idea of where to start looking.

no. Nepto Dragon is not tradable this will be the FINAL fish of 2.4 as the requirements are ironworks magitek rod + foragers gear melded.

you honestly dont know anything about the requirements or can you show me a screen where its obvious that someone with 409 gatherig got a "gathering is too low to land" message?

its just some wild speculations from your side, maybe they are true, maybe not, noone actually knows it

Endoceras is one of the few untradeble legendary fish, too and it doesnt require the ilvl 80 rod
Since Nepto Dragon is part of a quest the requirements for catching it wont be too hard

I have a question about this Mythique Quest, we need to catch all the legendary fish or just one by zone ?

Here is all that I have worked out for this mission so far using the fishing guide to see where the new fish are. If you all find out some more information on conditions to catch these, i'll try to add it on here.

For Endoceras, overcast works as well as fog, possible it's any weather where sky isn't visible. Not sure on gathering needed, got too low with tomato pies 378.

are you sure it was no coelacanthus? I just caught 3 of them while aiming for endoceras z.z

Yes because I can catch Coelacanthus with 378. Guessing Endoceras is any Clear/Fair -> not Clear/Fair. Only weather I've not seen it be caught in yet now is Gales.

Bump. Edited some information based on the ones I have. Still working on the 'Shonisaurus'.

Could someone post a link/list of all the 106 fishes needed for the achievement?
Between, is anyone having trouble catching 3 stars fishes after the 2.4 update? I'm having a extremely hard time catching HQ bait/3 stars fishes after the 2.4 update. With food I'm at 383 Gathering and 306 Perception. Can't catch the simplest easy 3 stars fish anymore like before :(

Clear/Fair >Blizzards

Mooch: Cloud Cutter > Mahar > Shonisaurus

has anyone figured out what specific fish needed per zone exactly for each stage of the quest?
I only see people naming all the new fish per zone.

1st stage: Endoceras, Namitaro, Helicoprion
2nd stage: Kuno the Killer, Shonisaurus
3rd stage: Nepto Dragon

The order is so dumb :( Nepto is the easiest to catch out of all of them. Was the last one I caught to get my ironworks. Still need Heli and Endo for the first part and the weather patterns are just stupid. Fish on!

Mm, I'd say Shonisaurus and Kuno are the hardest. Namitaro looks hard when you read the requirements, but you'll always have at least an 8 hour window to aim for takitaro - and despite the 1 minute buff it has a high appearance rate when it's active. It can still be tough, just relative to the others.

Hardest part of Endoceras and Helio was waiting for the right weather imo...maybe I just got lucky. And yeah, if you can reach the stats for Nepto it's mega underwhelming.

Has to be one of the dumbest quest out there. ( Ranting)
The reward is poor for the time and hassle you have to put in to it.
1 title, no minion/mount. Hq rates for Silver Fish and Cloud Cutters are ridiculously low.
Why I am I still doing this? This quest has been out long enough for it to be "Adjusted".

I ended up abandoning the quest since it's as tedious (if not more so) than relic/zodiac.

stats dont affect your reel success, it makes no difference if you have 396/190 or 500/400, the result will be the same

i caught Kuno the other day having fun with friends while they were also trying to catch it. and i had no idea its a hand in for this mission.

..... desynthed it. got fine sand HQ ^^.

then the said friends told me. "oh by the way. you need this fish for Feast of Famine quest"

ok update. not sure i can make it before 3.0 :(

i only have 3 fish of the legendary left. Shonisaurus, Heli and Namitaro.

Shonisaurus only once i got the stars to align for the required weather/time. i had one chance. i got NQ Mahar ;_;
Heli, all my attempts failed so far (why its so hard to HQ Stormrider even tho i have full bis/lucis gear?). and then "The Fish Gets Away" every time.
Namitaro, tried many times. Fish gets away.

the weather is rare for Shonisaurus. im not sure i will be able to catch it at this rate before HW :(

Shoni was the toughest fish for me. That weather combo is pretty rare. Usually it pops up at least once per day - but I'm often at work when that time happens. Be sure that you have high enough Perception to HQ the Mahars! I think the target number is 380?

The worst part of Namitaro is catching a Giant Takitaro. Those things are scarce! Once Giant T is caught, though, Namitaro has a very high hook rate within its very short window. You can usually expect to hook one or two, and while they often will get away, eventually you'll catch it.

Heli is almost as bad as Shoni, but I didn't have nearly as much trouble catching that one as I did Shoni. Possibly just lucky.

Yeah, it'll be tough to catch all three before Heavensward, but best of luck to you!

I had the opposite problem. Scarfed a Haddock Dip HQ and hooked an HQ Mahar my second time, and the Shoni didn't get away from me. I realize that this makes me ridiculously lucky.

Helicoprion though? HQ Dustfish ... HQ Antlion Slug ... no HQ Storm Riders. EVER.

Been trying to complete it for a while now, especially those last few days. Thought I would bring some friends along because, I don't know, the more the merrier or something like that. So yeah, helicoprion. It's 4 pm and I've been sitting here for 5 in game hours already, trying to catch that first HQ storm rider to be ready to mooch when the weather changes. One of my friends dismounts, lands the HQ with her first cast and then... you've guessed it. Helicoprion. First attempt. Ever. Doesn't even own her lucis yet *_*

I don't know how I'm feeling right now.

Sort of reminds me of The Old Man in the Sea, my personal luckiest catch. Weather combo comes up, I decide to try to catch it for the very first time. Head to the ship, join the other Fishers there, eat my food (had low stats back then), and cast my line. HQ Herring, cool, good start! (Mooch) HQ Ogre Barracuda, wow, that's lucky! (Mooch) (Big tug) (Successful Old Man catch.) Huh... Well, got what I came for. Later, guys!

Only shonisaurus to go.

I caught the Urth's fish while working on filling out my fishing log. When I went to desynth it - it wanted me to check a box because it was untradeable. I looked up the fish. This is how I found out about the quest lol. I've been working on it for 2-3 weeks now, obsessing about weather patterns and camping at the Skywatcher. I've got one fish left - the desert fish - Helicoprion. That weather pattern has been a real pain and then I seem to just get Dune Mantas, when/if I get HQ Storm Riders. The best I seem to get is 12 mins from a 4pm heat window opening. I've never gotten a daytime heat following fog/clouds. My obsession will continue until I get this done.

I thought the worst one was the Coerthas fish. In the last 2-3 weeks, I've only seen the weather pattern 4 times.

And I still can't turn ANYTHING in yet because the Helicoprion is one of the first 3. >.<

Same exact same thing happened to me except we both have BiS everything + Lucis. I've seen 3-4 ppl hop off and get this fish. I've been to 5+++ windows now and nuthin..

I caught the Shoni. I've had my doubts, felt sadness when the few HQ Mahars I managed to mooch led to my prey escaping, but ultimately my luck, erm, fishing leet skills, prevailed.

I'm not talking to the Skywatcher ever again.

i caught both Heli and Namitaro this weekend ^^.

Shonisaurus spawned twice last night (surprisingly!!!! this rarely happens). and i failed to HQ Mahar :(

sigh. not enough time left till heavensward ;_;. planning to quit fishing in HW till 3.5. unless they rework this horrible unforgiving rng system.

but i still want Of Dragons Deep title before HW :(

To the envy of my fellow fishers at that point in time when I got Shoni... I got to the spot, we queued up for something... came out window open, I swap, pop food, cast... hq cloud cutter, mooch, hq mahar, mooch... shoni caught... the others around there were kinda speechless... think it was my third or fourth window I've managed to get to. And that was with lucis and AF+foragers hat.

Still gotta work for the ironworks rod though... nearly half way there.
