290 sold for 1158 myth? When the items sell at 1:2? I know money changers take their slice, but Auriana my dear, you are a thief!
so its 1:4, same as when they switched out phil. It was the expected rate :)
Should've spent your myth! We were told not to hoard them in the live letter
They actually made it harder to get a novus relic due to the inconsistency in myth to soldiery conversion. Alexandrite maps now cost 400 soldiery while A rank hunts still only give 20, meaning that each A rank is now only worth 0.15 (0.1 from allied seals and 0.05 from soldiery) alexandrites whereas it was 0.2 before the patch, making hunts (as well as other sources of tomestones since none of them yield more soldiery than before as far as I'm aware), the main source of alexandrites for anyone who doesn't feel like extending the process of getting his novus across multiple months and only does the daily, considerably less efficient.
The exchange sucks. But depending on server economy the return from soldiery craft mats may easily make it worth it these early days.

Needs attention and should be fixed. Why on Hydaelyn did they make it MORE time consuming to obtain Novus? >_>
Also to get your daily done for the Alexandrite map you have to not only -not- do Brayflox hard and those sets of dungeons, and -not- do Hullbreaker Isle and those sets of dungeons, but youre locked out of expert until you get the new "more difficult" set of 3 dungeons (again....) Novus is extremely unbalanced with this patch.
I haven't logged in - but won't it be pretty quick to earn an alexandrite doing roulettes or did those get reduced? I think I was earning somewhere around 150 myth per trial roulettes, 140 or so per hm roulettes, etc. Sounds like it would be pretty easy to do the expert roulette quest and then other roulettes to knock out a quick two per day.
With the atma rates increased, I wonder if the alexandrite fate drops were increased as well. If atmas are dropping one per hour; it might be beneficial to farm alexandrites that way.
I didn't hoard Myth, I spent and just had under 200 Myth left over before I logged off.
However, to me this is totally a fake sale. Patch notes made it seem like, "look, only 400 for an Alex map." However, when you look in DF you're now getting half the Soldiery over what we used to get of Myth.
Kinda reminds me of when you go to a store like Target and see a sale sign on an item. You think yay a sale. Upon closer inspection, you see the original price and discover the original price is the same as the "sale" price.
it's not even a 1:2 conversion, we get now 40 soldiery instead of 100mytho...so yes, we must work now harder to get our maps, but its faster for the books...even if we don't count hunts into the equation.
plus. a thing a lot of people forget ...fresh 50, could run the low level roulette, etc, to get ilvl90 gear easily...now...it's a pain for them to get soldiery, so they must farm dungeon to get lvl60, and spam more dungeon to 70, etc, they lost the easy way to gear up for ST / Expert dungeon.
in conclusion : BIG FAIL on the new rates
Completely agree. Rank A hunts still give the same amount of Soldiery yet don't give any Poetics. The myth to sold exchange rate is 4:1, yet the stuff that used to be sold for myth that is now sold for soldiery is a 1:2 rate yet the rate at which we obtain soldiery hasn't changed at all... Maps need to be 200 soldiery.
Also why don't rank A hunts give any poetics?
Gearing up in ilvl 90 isn't really a problem. You can outfit yourself in a full set of ilvl 90 Relic gear for just 290 allied notes. Even if you don't want to join a hunt LS (which could get you that in an evening or two), that's just over a single week's worth of weekly and daily hunts (weekly=50 plus 7x daily=32 equals 274 seals).
After solo hunts got their upgrade, and arguably before, there was really no reason at all to waste Myth buying Relic gear, when you could have spent it buying and selling crafting ingredients for profit.
they said they removed 90 gear from allied vendor. or i did read it wrong
They did the same thing when philo was removed. They totally nerfed the myth gain and people were spam farming Bray HM for Myth since it was the fastest way to gain. Later on a few patched later they increased the myth gain across the board to the point it was practically raining myth. History is repeating here it seems. These cycles are kinda annoying to be honest. Why not find a nice balance rather than starting off grindy and then going to joke easy?
