Great, now we gotta deal with "Riki Maru's" in PvP

I actually enjoyed PvP in this game for the fact that there is no BS stealth class trying too annoy and troll you through the entire fight. It's refreshing and a breathe of fresh air when so many games offer these troll "spy/stealth/hiding" classes.

Welp, looks like that changes now. Gonna need ninja's to help expose other Ninjas under the Hide effects, I guess the idea of Ninja'ing a OP is gonna be legit now, and gonna need other ninjas camping OP to help counter them.

There's also the new ability that exposes all enemies within a 50 yalm radius, depending on the c/d on it it could be very helpful.

Hopefully SE made sure that people can't take and claim flags while in stealth, otherwise this is going to be very bad...

You go to steal an enemy outpost. Only one summoner guarding it. You proceed to go in for the kill when suddenly you're surrounded by 13 assassins!

Enhanced detect is 150 seconds CD, and can only be used by Bards and Ninjas. Not sounding very promising to alleviate all the annoyingness that stealth classes bring TBH. Oh well, just have to see how it all plays out, and yeah Eikko, hopefully you can't capture while stealth...

Honestly idk how great that stealth ability is gonna be given that 50% decrease in movement speed while under its effects. Even getting around the map on mounts feels slow to me so I would find it incredibly impractical using it to get around. Itd be more useful to hide under its effects defending a base to make ppl think its empty and then dropping it to attack them by surprise. I highly doubt SE would allow people to cap flags while under the effects of this invisible too unless there is some way to detect/attack them while they are on the flag and break the effect. Regardless, the pvp abilities ninja has seem to put them in more of a reconnaissance role which is nice in that it makes it more unique when compared to the other jobs but it doesnt fit my playstyle and as such i probably wont be using it in front lines. Dragoon and White mage will likely remain the two jobs I use the most in there with the occassional monk added in when opposing teams start stacking too many scholars.

1. Reread da notes...ppl under hide can't take flags.
2. Depending on how often you tap your targetting (go-go Tonko, Ballista) unless ppl under hide can't be targetted..don't see the problem. (That -50% speed is horrible btw..)

You can't take OP in Stealth mode, but I suppose you can hide to avoid being targeted. Meaning you can take an OP and when you see ennemies coming, just hide, go behind a rock and wait...

Nah the real fun will be in WD when suddenly, the life of your healer vanish after a SATA :P

Honestly, this is no different than other any MMO with a stealth class. With all the AoEs we have that don't require a target, it won't be too difficult to pop a Ninja out of Hide. If you're a Bard or a SMN/SCH, you can even set your AoE on the ground and sit in the middle of it.

Just gotta adapt current MMO tactics into a game that until recently had no need for them. I'm rather enjoying that we finally have a stealth class. Brings back that feeling of danger to guarding a node that I've been missing.

My observations re: NIN on opposing side so far is they're squishy so fun & easy to kill with my Summoner. To be fair, the NIN skill set is new while I've been running SMN for months and in the occasional random 1v1 encounter against most classes I practically always come ahead.

Observation re: NIN in my alliance- lowest score ever was when a premade decided to forgo Markets altogether and guard our OP along with 4 hidden NIN's. Seeing them stand there not doing anything each time I passed through to mid, and seeing the score distribution and point capture my I finally asked them what they were doing. Sure would have been fun for them to pull off but of little strategic value vs capping ands holding markets. Having a match doomed by a higher portion of alliance members who have priorities counterproductive to a first place win is why I resent GC-based queueing.

This is incredibly annoying getting paired up with these nin's that internally sabotage the A or C team by trying to do B's job of protecting the OP just so that they can hide + SA or TA people. It weakens the overall combat capabilities of A and C and can make it harder for them to cap and keep their flags since they are constantly fighting a man or 2 short. In regards to facing off against them as a drg I have also found them to be incredibly squishy and easy to kill and have not been very impressed with the damage they put out on me the couple times I've run into a ninja in a one on one scenario but yeah that's probably because the job is so new and not entirely understood and mastered to optimize its dmg potential.

Ha yeah I actually came up with a phrase for it this weekend- 'Ninja Loosing'.

Just did few matches and i found out that Hide is not working properly, it kinda suffers same issue you have with it on boss fights. After fight is over i was unable to go in Hide as it tought i was still in combat, mounting was totally fine but not hide for some reason -_-

I come to this forum and think there must be a thread about ninja being overpowered and it's true.

they do high melee damage, they have ranged attack, they can use magics, they can hide and they're a nightmare for every mage classes.

I fully sympathize with this problem. I seem to get a lot of NINs in team A and C who decide to be lone-wolves and run straight to enemy OPs and try to ninja (pun not intended) them, only to lose them seconds later or down-right get ganked by respawning enemies before the deed is even done. Meanwhile we struggle to capture or hold a flag because we're short a person (or two). Then again, this has been happening even before the release of NIN, but now the behavior is almost encouraged.
