Should Archer new Job be healing though Singing?

Lets calls the Job "Vocalise," (because all of the other titles I had were for girls.)

So, I made a Thread yesterday talking about making Arcanist into Tank and I joked about Archer healing with song then it hit me "that makes sense!" Think about it Archer cross with conjurer, what do you get? What I came up with was vocalise. Basically a singing base healer that can also buff, but the job base heals in the class are regen. Basically a HoT healing class that focus on using MP and TP to get its heals out. And gear would be Mind Focus with Accuracy.

What do you guys think? Yay or Nay

Honestly, as long as we have barcher, they could just add a regen song or two rather than further moving away from archer/ranger xD. I know in the game Trusty Bell Viola had Healing arrows and such, which could work if they stuck with Tanaka's design..but alas.

I would love to see this. I don't think a healing role is needed more than what Mage Ballad does for healers at the moment.

I wouldn't mind having a regen song. It sort of completes the set of TP/MP/HP.

I would just settle for bards who actually use their songs.

i'm kinda sure yoshida did said that they don't plan to add another jobs to the current class, but well *shrugs*

With Stand Alone Jobs being released in 3.0, Dark Knight being one of the 1st Stand Alone Jobs, anything can be possible.

Heck i won't be surprised if they decide to release Ranger as Archer's 2nd Job and serves to be more DD focused.

Could just call it a Musician or Minstrel >_>

not unless they revamp BRD into something else than DD. i'm quite sure there's not going to be more than 1 job/role, branching from any given class.
so if they plan to add ranger or whatever, they must first turn BRD into a healer/support; give the attack skills to Ranger, and expand BRD songs.

i don't know why ppl complain about BRD not being focused on damage....they have great burst damage. the only time they loose damage, is if they do TP/MP songs, which they don't very frequently, except for progression, or T8.

What I would have done is:

- Add a new Ranged DPS that comes from the Archer. Call it Ranger.
- Give the Ranger all the dps skills of the Bard.
- Ranger has crossbows + handbow.
- Bard keeps the bow with harp combo.
- Remake Bard with prior and new buff + healing spells.
- Bard keeps support LB and Ranger gets a attack LB.

Everyone is happy WIN/WIN.

Nay - I hope they eliminate starting classes all together moving forward. Even with the stat reset item being changed to 250 seals instead of 10,000 I would prefer that all jobs are completely unique and do not share abilities. In my opinion forcing 2 jobs to share all but 5 abilities is a bad idea, it forces you to essentially use most of the same abilities on more than one job which feels lazy and uninspired to me. That's just my opinion about the whole class/job thing.

I'm personally hyped that agent may be the next healer class, a gun healer seems pretty neat to me and I am willing to bet that whatever it is will not have a starting class, just like DRK won't, and that makes me very happy.

Bards already have a healing song that is to be learned. Every people who leveled bard should know that

The only names that came to me was song maiden, Harpy, and siren. Musician sounds like someone that uses a instrument. But that's just me. :P

Honestly Dancer feels like a evasive tank or a buff job. But it would be funny seeing a dancer build agro with tambourines.

This is assuming it will even work this way. They've said before the way Summoner and archanist work is going to be revisited and then recently DRK comes out without a class at all. 3.0 could mean it won't work this way every again.

Shooting someone to heal them is a weird idea. It sound like someone was drunk when they was thinking up a healer.

I'd really like a complete overhaul of Bard. Get rid of all of its arbitrary ranged attack skills, give them to a new Ranger class, and then reinvent bard as the support class it's supposed to be.

It's from a single-player console game, that had dark and light elements in it. Basically think of zelda's light arrows except to aid allies, not hurt enemies then they won't seem any more drunk than Shigeru Miyamoto was. :P

besides if the new gunner is indeed a healer, don't you think they'd be shooting stuff at you to heal you? I'm pretty sure that speed would hurt the average player regardless of whats being shot. :P

Well, write to SE and ask them to redo bards the proper way please as is, our songs do more bad than good...

since 2 of 3 of them take damage away from us, 1 of them is ok but since we never see what the numbers are for the blm if there even is a blm in the group... /shrug on that

run song is a joke and turns off, when switching zones, combat, and anything that would make the run song seem appropriately needed.

I wont lie, but FF14 has one of the worse incarnations of bard I have ever seen, and its the go to job/class whatever I prefer in any mmo that offers it.

In the opening movie of the game, the bard lays down a protective shield which takes a single hit. I always wondered, "where is that?" I wonder if that's something they meant to incorporate and didn't or will incorporate.

I like bard, just my opinion. I know some players don't mind the thought of sitting there running songs over and over till their mp is dry but I like being utility and that's the key word to this version of bard, Utility DPS.

I don't really like the idea of sitting there and singing with nothing else to do till my song is needed again and honestly I'd think infinite running song so mp/tp is never dry is too op for most contents we got right now so we'd always be limited to either 1 song at a time on timer for like 15-30s or MP running dry and no song mojo business while we got nothing else to do.

What I want is the ability to see TP of melee DPS so I can tell when to sing TP songs for DPS.

In the end though, I respect the opinion of the community that actually use the forums and SE's decisions.

That was 1.x when Bards could cross class CNJ spells.

They should add ranger job for those who want to be full archer DPS and not some support class.

I known it was a joke, but there have been games where you used bullets to heal people (Borderlands).

Archer and Bard should never have been mixed to begin with. Bard is really a Ranger with one or two afterthought 'songs' thrown on.

As people have mentioned already: so many want an actual Bard: HoTs, songs to buff party/debuff mobs. There's also a ton of people out there who just want a real Bow dps: Ranger (hunter, maybe even sniper). I guess we will have to hang on and wait if SE will adjust the job system so they can start thinking about support roles. It doesn't seem like that will happen soon as 3.0 was mentioned to be yet another moment for new-to-MMO-players to join.

I just keep repeating this so people will not forget. When the 2nd team came in, they promised us the classical FF job names. However, 1.0's horrible remnant were kept in the game: Pugilust to Monk, Marauder to Warrior, Conjurer to White Mage, Gladiator to Paladin and so on. I was so exited and in my mind I already knew: Archer (you know, someone who hurts stuff with his (cross)bow) to Rang.. wait.. BARD!? I honestly thought it was a mistake or the translation was wrong. Unfortunately it wasn't and we got a crappy lore about how Bards also use bows and such. They managed to screw over RNG and BRD, two jobs which are so interesting to implement.

Archer is a ranger the two are basicly exacly the same just diffrent names
