You don't have $0.50? I can lend you some...
Better question is why in the world would they have to do a 25 hour maintenance when they just did a freakin maintenance not a week ago
Don't have to be smart about it... I just wanted a yes or no answer...
I dont watch reality shows because they are not reality so that isnt the answer try another one
They should give the option:
Have maintenance and new content for those who want new stuff
For people who can't wait > no update
nice one Yoda
Whether it is troll or serious question, here's an answer. Yes you lose it and you cant do anything about it.
No disrespect, OP, but if you can't afford to miss one day of play (which does indeed amount around 50 cents), then what are you doing wasting 12 to 15 bucks a month on a video game?
It was explained on the lodestone. They have to make big changes server side especially due to a large increase in housing plots, and with big changes comes an increase in the amount of testing required before letting players back in.
Are you guys purposefully not reading what the OP wrote wholly? He asked if he loses the day, not that he minded waiting for the maintenance. He is asking if he gets 30 days of play for his 30 days of pay. Even if those 30 days were interrupted by 3 weeks of maintenance.
Additionally, Hoshi already answered it.
As an online game with a montly suscription you did agree to have them updating the game every now and then to add content or hot fixes to the game you have purchased and again, are paying a monthly fee to them to do just that. Also, and you can read the ToS if you want, where all this is stated, your character is never of your property but SE's.
Suscription fees are what keep the game alive and guarantee us new content and bug fixes. You may or may not have updates and fixes on a free-to-play game too, but in the case of FFXIV, your money actually goes toward keeping the servers up, and pay the staff to create future content and bug fixes.
Before calling out people as bright ones and with sheer genius, please read what you have signed up for first, because you do sound like a troll and there's no surprise on getting these reactions from your fellows.
And to answer your question: No. You won't get a refund of a 25 hours offline server.
To all the naysayers out there: It's normal to ask for a free day of game time and other companies give the day back to the players. Most recent occurrence of this would be when Wildstar consolidated all of their servers last week and had the servers down for a day and gave every player with an active account a free day of game time. This really isn't much to ask for, especially considering it's already being payed for.
One thing is having technical problems and not being able to have the game up for whatever external reason that has nothing to do with the game, and another is update/maintenance. I can understand wanting money back from idk a powercut on their side or something, but if it's because it's being updated... no, that's not normal. They are doing exactly what we are paying them for. Also, I mean, come on, for 0,50.-? You really find it normal?
Referencing ToS is pathetic. We're all painfully aware of what ToS says about a lot of things so let's be fair and give each other the benefit of the doubt and assume we're not so naive as to believe that the ToS is absolute in this case. I feel like anyone arguing ToS for this subject should be promptly placed in the centipad episode of south park for arrogance and negligence. Meanwhile the rest of us adults will realize that our parents aren't paying for this game and that it is a legitimate concern. So please, aside from all of your bantering about "ToS" this, and "you're cheap" that can we please just come to a conclusion that we all agree that we want our day of free game time and that it makes sense to want it. And you may tell yourself that there are too many good reasons for them not to, but all you need is one good reason to, and the fact is that you don't pay to not play this game. Like most I don't have a problem with having the day off, but I did pay for it and I want compensation. If this were a larger sum of money this argument could easily be upheld in a court, so your "ToS" arguments are worthless.
While it's true that EULAs and ToS agreements do not supersede the law of the land, you'll be hard pressed to find a law that forces companies to compensate customers for less than $0.50 of lost time, you're just proving yourself as a self entitled cheapskate.
Again, companies SOMETIMES will compensate you but it is nothing more than a good will gesture, if you demand it you're labelled as a trouble customer and are either ignored or walked out.
The only thing being proven is your inability to accept what you know to be the truth and it bothers you that I am right, which leads you to insulting me with cheap attacks like calling me a "self entitled cheapskate". The only thing cheap was your comment. You still have not given any decent rationality to why it is I shouldn't get what I pay for.
You pay for an access to the servers whenever they are available. tell me how a maintenance breaks that ?
For people wishing to be compensated for extended down time and the approximate .50 cents USD that you have lost, your compensation comes in the form of this:
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...0482c3e441d852
Not bad for .50 cents.
The ToS define your contract with SE. In this contract you agreed that can do maintenance. Now this maintenance takes 25 hours.
Do you have to like it? - no.
Do you have to live with it? - yes
Bitching about it won't change it, the ToS would be the base for every lawsuite with SE
