Japanese Atma theory is real, proof in link.

So after getting my first atma set over a frustrating period of two months I googled atma theory and saw a link to a post on reddit:

I followed the times listed as attempting gathering my atmas, low and behold I never spend more than 30 mins in an area before I was given my atma. The longest I spent in one area was 11 fates before a drop.

There is one thing though the reddit post mentions about going during server times,in my screenshots the times all match the post. The times of capture listed below.

It's pure RNG. RANDOM. The drop rate is getting buffed in two days. You can wait two days.

Just so you know OP, I got my first set of atma in 3 days with 16 hours straight in horizon, when my 2nd set of atma took me 2 hours and half total. You can burn our so called theory.

=> Even if there were a time condition or anything like that, it would have been eorzean time or server time. Anyway, I don't see why the devs would have been all the trouble making shitty time conditions when they say themselves that playing too much isn't recommended.

=> A cap ? A cap ? this is totally dumb. There is no such thing. If you don't trust me on my 2.5 hours set (can't blame you, I'm just an internet random after all), maybe you could refer to the atma challenge during the anniversary event, where they got 10 or 11 atmas in 14 hours.

It is 100% RNG.

That being said, I had all my atmas within 2 days, and this was the method I did when I was collecting. I did it during the second week, when this was thought to be a legit thing though.
I know it's not the case, but it really seemed believable at the time.

Well something needs to give because I'm at 16 hours of fate farming in 3 different zones and have gotten nothing. At this rate i can farm th 1500 myth for the 9 books faster than actually getting the atmas. Even considered ditching the relic weapon all together.

Where did you see that they are increasing the drop rate with 2.4. I can not find nothing in the Patch notes to support that.

It's right below the delivery moogle quests...

I'd also like to add something about RNG, yes rng is rng, but that in no way means that it is no longer rng if parameters are changed. If you watch many speedrunners playing older games, many have ways of manipulating rng based on certain triggers in the game because they might all be linked from what second you pressed "start" at on the main menu. The path an npc follows may allow you to know exactly where a future boss might spawn based on this.


As for atma, or any drop for that matter.... having increased parameters at a certain time/hour does not mean that its not still RNG. If something has a 1% drop rate your figuring that each time you kill mob/finish fate the dice are rolled and if it hits 1 out of a 100 you get ur item. IF the parameter was changed at a certain hour allowing a 10% drop rate, you would have a higher chance of getting the item, but that doesn't mean its not still RNG. People that are saying there are increased drop rates at certain times arent saying its a definite drop, just saying the parameters might be altrered for a better result, they aren't saying its not RNG.

RNG will always be RNG, so just because you get your Atma drops outside of these time periods doesn't mean that they're necessarily wrong. I was skeptical about the Atma theory at first too, but since then SE has released S-rank hunts with rather unique and obscure ways of spawning them. I wouldn't be surprised if there was some bit of truth to the Atma theory considering that history. Unfortunately it won't guarantee drops either, and this game's RNG seems to be particularly cruel at times (Failing a 94% chance to meld 6 times, failing to get a HQ item with over 90% quality consistently, and the chance of getting A High Wind in Ishgard for your Ixal Dailies).

The time theory is a delusional combination of placebo and confirmation bias. Atma drops are nothing but pure RNG farming. Nothing more, nothing less.

yes it is pure RNG, but RNG means, everyone has his own random rate at a specific moment. Doesn't mean a random rate for everyone at anytime. You should know that, it is adjustable in the system^^;

But you are only arguing against a point that noone is arguing. I havent seen anyone supporting the "clock theory" say that atma will only drop during these times, or even that you are guaranteed a drop at these times. The only arguments I've seen are that drop rates seemed to be increased during these specific times. Just because a drop rate is increased does not mean it's no longer RNG.

That is exactly what the theory is, take a look at the link in the OP. They only drop in xx zone at xx time clearly is not true.

when you go to that link, the first thing you are looking at is not exactly the theory itself... thats just a comment on the theory that happens to list the times so it was upvoted to #1. The person making that comment even says they have never even tried it themselves, they are just relaying the information on the times/zone. Reading down through the rest of the comments shows that a vast majority of people who do support the theory, dont think that they only drop during those hours.

Pure RNG for sure. My first set took me around 1950 fates. Now I'm at 9/265 on my second.

I have tried these "theories" a few times when starting atma it's pure RNG.

3 Months later i got 12 atmas for my 1st weapon... just saying
And yes the atma rate is being increased and read somewheres (don't quote me i forget what thread) that it will be 2x, so currently @ 1%, so now 2%

The only "Theory" I ever subscribed to was that fate participation influenced if you got atma or not. I only think that's a thing because myself and another got 13(We both duplicated one) in the span of two weeks only farming for about one hour a day. When they didn't drop we moved to another area, or another piece of content. If one got one first, they swapped weapons and kept on until the other got it, or just "hung around" until the other succeeded. I would imagine since we got ours prior to the nerf that it's even easier than that now. So yeah... no special tricks or gimmicks... Just do the fates right and hope for good rng. You'll get it in no time if you're patient.
