One new PvP map for expansion. Anyone else find this concerning?

Yoshi-P's recent interview with mmorpg.com had him revealing only one new map for PvP:

Does anyone else find this extremely paltry? That means we'll have been using a single map for almost a year with only one new one to come in Spring 2015.

Meanwhile, PvE is pushing 20+ dungeons. I respect the desire to make balanced PvP maps, but it doesn't take two years to do that. Period.

This games priority system works like this:

1. Mounts & Minions first
2. Glamours
3. PvE content
4. everything else
5. .. pvp

A shame too that they use up so much development time making dungeons nobody cares about past the first day of the update. I'm waiting to see if the new rules he is talking about are like different game modes of frontline with different objectives but just using the same carteneau map. That wouldnt be too bad. But yeah thats alarming if they expect us to wait over half a year for new pvp maps. The reality however is pve will always take priority over pvp content even if its pve content ppl couldnt give two s**ts about.

There is some logic to Yoshi's limiting the maps (even to just one for right now) Multi-maps = splitting the pvp population = even bigger que times. Even with the 1-year-already arguement, FF14 PvP is still newborn, a waiting room trying to expose many more people to it. Does the waiting suck? Yes, ESPECIALLY to the hardcore PvPer who loves all things pvp. But the way he's progressing is rational lol. Better things are in store for the future...just gotta wait for em lol.

Its pretty much like that in every game. Pvp players are the minority, sadly. So devs feel no need to prioritize pvp content.

I'm not sure that this interview is to be taken seriously ...
There is often a lot of speculation and when things happen, they are often different. So trust has an article on an unofficial site, I do not know ...

All PvP maps should be under the same item in the duty finder. That for me is a given.

Hmm, just one new PvP map for the expansion would be a bit of a letdown, if none came before it in a patch or something. I'd be fine with two new ones and the addition of an option to sign up for Frontlines Roulette. I hope they'll throw some carrots-on-a-stick at PvP to entice more people to give it a try and shorten the queue - while keeping a look out for abusers who'll just afk, pushing a button per minute just to avoid the kick.

The only way that adding more maps will work in this game if they didnt let you q for a specific map. Adding more maps will decrease q time and im pretty sure that every post on this forum is complaining about q times already. You guys are so hard to please :)

Yeah, something like duty roulette. So you can only queue for Arena-PVP in general and then the game chooses a random map. That would make sense. Imagine if you could queue for every map by itself. That would just make the wait times even longer.

Bring in a Capture the Flag map!

While we won't be getting any new maps until 3.0, Yoshi did say that 2.5 will get new rules. What that likely means is new match types on the two existing PvP maps.

Very concerning. I was expecting a new map for 2.4. If we don't see one in 2.5 PVP is going to lose players. I think more maps would bring more players. Right now I think people are not playing because of lack of diversity, not lack of interest but I could be wrong. If it truly is a lack of interested I don't see how waiting to add content will bring new players?

Some of the comments made, could we get different objectives on the same maps? With the adding of new maps or games on same map they need an option to que them all together. The community is not big enough to split into other ques. I am sure anyone with over 200 matches has seen the same players in matches.

FF series has, and will prolly always will be PvE/RP games. You get a side of PvP, nothing more. The fact they added anything to PvP is pretty amazing.

It really shouldn't come as a surprise.
