You mean your 2-hour ability? I think you left that in FFXI when you started playing FFXIV instead.

And 2 hour - class specific abilities were something great from XI
...just that they were completely imbalanced.
FFXI -2 lol xD Maybe a FFXIV + XI would be better.
And yes, 2h abilities were great. I would like to see something like that here too

oh, look i made a pb&j-2 for you, its the same sandwich just with better graphics. i want something NEW, which is why ffxiv ticks me off so bad. this is already ffxi-2, pretty much the same concept with different names and almost none of the content. ffxi fanbois ruin this game.... that is post-developer-initial-screwup.... you guys just make it worse. real ff fans would embrace change!!
even if it was ffxi2, it would still lack content.
2 hrs were okay. i'd rather enjoy content first tho. maybe quest 2hr ability or guild mark
Well, there *are class-specific abilities. That's as close as you get!
2hr abilities... don't really have to be on 2 hour cool down. Quite frankly, having anything on 2 hour cool down creates a deterrent to use them, which ironically is why they're put there in the first place. On top of that, quite a few 2hrs in XI later became either niche or obsolete abilities. Outside of a few sac pulls, I can probably count on one hand the number of times I used Perfect Dodge in party play. What you people really are looking for is some sort of class specific "uber" ability. Kind of like what World of Warcraft does: each class and talent build has 1-2 special ability that defines that class, whether it's bloodlust for shamans, wings for paladins, gargoyles for death knights, or treants for druids. Notice that none of these abilities are on a cool down longer than 10 minutes, which is based around the assumption that you would clear most bosses within 10 minutes.
That being said, we DON'T need a rehash of XI. What we need is to take what worked, and add it into the game. A functioning player search and invitation tool. A streamlined battle regimen system. Additional methods of transportation outside of teleporting and running. A mailbox/messaging system. Linkshells emblems with better customization of color palettes. Arena fights to challenge players and offer rare items. These things are from XI, and can be implemented with XIV's own flair and flavor. Things like class specific abilities, while an interesting concept, really should be put on the back burner till we have these immediate concerns taken care of. Once the foundation (community interaction) is fixed, then we can look at balancing gameplay concerns and seeing if we can make those spells and abilities look more impressive.
It's call the 10 minute ability in FF14, which is frankly pretty worthless.
About 2hr abilities...depends on class, and the fact that it wasn't balanced well through the updates is not at fault. They were originally envisioned to be use in "oh crap" situations and boss battles(BCNM). And they worked pretty well.
Chain spells, benedictions, perfect dodge, etc etc were all factors in life or dead situations. Saying they're worthless is the understatement of the year.
Heck Matt battles strategies sometimes lived on 2hr abilities.
Wouldn't be the worse to have in FF14 if there were actual epic battles and hopeless fights to be fought.
Anyone that says Meikyo Shisui is not a good, needs to see multiple lights.

d0000d two hours {Yes, please.} anything that promotes uniqueness in this game is needed. Plus 2hrs were awesome....
I think it could be a small way of adding specific roles to classes ... but that just becomes another problem/topic in itself.
Two hour i welcome for sure FFXI 2.0 maybe but i still like it to have the same storyline as ffxiv lol just put all the good thing from ffxi too ffxiv and add new things and there we go :)
FFXI was a great game, that I quit years ago after years of play. I hope they take the ideas of what worked and think of how it could be implemented in the world of FFXIV and how much it would need to change and how to fit THIS game, instead of trying to be or completely imitate a 10 year old game. :)
Uniqueness to classes is a very welcome thought. I'm sure that includes bad ass things only so and so class can do to a certain degree which creates a need for them (hopefully not the kind that nothing can progress without them). I do not wish for a special 30second ability to be implemented to FFXIV that will have a TWO HOUR COOL DOWN! Anyway, please try to have an open mind. We have the ability now to really have what we want to be heard. Please don't ask FFXIV to be turned into FFXI as awesome and great as that game was. If you want, maybe you can ask the FFXI team to update the graphics for that game? But that's another topic.
Final Fantasy has made lots of great games to this date that all differ from each other while they still have that little something we all love and which reminds us of FF. Have faith that this game can in its own way be brilliant.
2 hours were silly and nigh gamebreaking. there are other better things we could put in to give classes more charm and character.
plus i'd get to use them every behest and make behests even easier.
There is no point in FFXIV having 2 hours in it. They increased the speed of the battle system for a reason. There hardly going to want to slow it back down again.
2 hour cool downs are inefficient.
People need to stop with the XI-2 idea. We already have yoshi-p lending his expertise to XIV to keep it original yet balanced.
I think minimal content from XI fused with original XIV content works fine.
If you want XI then play XI. If you want. Fresh experience then play XIV.
Adding 2-hours isn't making it XI-2, (which most people want anyway) it's giving classes unique abilities that can't be used on any other class. 2-hour abilities were epic when I was about to die in a fight and used my 2-hour then barely pulled off the victory. I think they should fix the difficulty levels of monsters first though.
An overpower and exclusive ability for each class and knowing when to use it in special occasion can help give class uniqueness in battle strategies, like giving a player a triumph card for that "oh-shi*t" moment. To balance this "overpowered" ability, a limit is needed to stop players from spamming it, hence, a long recast might be needed. 2hr ability doesn't automatically means FFXI-2.
