Hello,
did SE already stated somewhere if expansion is going to be available on CDs too? I love to collect CDs so I would rather buy it in physic state than digital.
Thanks for answers. :)

im pretty sure they will be able to be bought as cds i dont see why not but then again im wrong alot
More likely that it will be on dvd due to cd's 650 mb limit
Nope, gonna be on hole punch cards.
Ticker Tape, Its the wave of the future!

Honestly, no clue.
I'd imagine so though. Unless physical copy sales of XIV have been absolutely atrocious in comparison to digital downloads they probably won't ditch it. It'd also impact the number of players they can have to not print it due to the limitations of online purchases (keep in mind subscriptions can be paid for with physically purchased cards and not everyone has a credit card on hand)
Read CD as cool down, been playing too much >.>
Said it during one of the events today, the CE is gonna include an actual statue, so I'd guess the physical release of Heavensturn is kinda implicit. ^^
Yoshida mentioned something about a figure possibly being included in the collector's edition. So, yes, there will be a physical copy.
Expansion will be distributed across 27,000 5-inch Floppy Disks with 1MB of data per disk. Please look forward to it.
cant wait to see the CE items
I'd hope they'd release it on disc. Can't imagine the strain the servers would go through of everyone trying to download the expansion at once. Remember when 2.0 launched and Square disabled digital purchases due to the flood of people trying to buy and download?
Probably expansion specific files will be on cd, but stuff shared across the whole game is downloaded. Is how FFXI worked.
Have they said anything about whether the expansion will be one purchase for your overall account, or platform specific? I.e. if you want to keep playing on both PC and PS3, do you have to buy Heavensward twice?
Yes, the expansion has about a 1.8 year CD.
Even when you change classes in town.
yep. There's CE included with flying black chocobo. Or at least that's what I watched from London fanfest opening @ utube. Think we will have a physical copy.
prefer physical copy
I've never heard of these "CDs" you speak of, is that a new format or something?
The size of some of those fringe programs /shudder
I remember the first CD I picked up. I actually asked the guy, "The whole program is on a single disk?" I couldn't believe it. I was like, "Thank god, no more 'insert disc 3 to continue,' 'insert disc 4 to continue,' 'insert disc 5 to continue.'"
in my custom, CD actually shorts for underwear. lol

I didn't read the entire thread but in regards to the OP's question. My assumption is that you will be able to obtain a physical copy of the expansion on DVD or Bluray disc, dependent upon which system you're installing the expansion on, and the expansion will also be available for digital download after purchasing it and obtaining a code which can be used to register your digitally downloaded copy of the expansion.
I, for one, am hoping that they reasonably price the expansion at $19.99 US or at most $29.99 US. We are paying a monthly subscription fee, after all, and there's no need for SE to rape or wallets by charging an arm and a leg for the expansion. Regardless, of which price they choose....please look forward to it! ( ~.ΓΈ)b
Well damn, I'm glad I didn't even know this game existed. If I had, I would have been in a world of disappointment.
"Have you tried this game sir?"
"Why no, let me have a look....Hmm, cutting edge graphics, dynamic content, expressive realism, 7 CD installa...go f**k yourself, I'll just play Snood for the 9th time"
lol
I do own the game. In fact, it's one of the best game I ever had.. :D
And no, you don't really need to install the whole game at that time, just the driver and executable files. Only need to switch disc when you proceed to new act. 1 cd = 1 act.
And someone already made a custom compilation that fits everything on a single DVD. Like the wiki said, majority of same data placed on each CD to avoid frequent swapping disc.
At least you know. lol
