I noticed that the patch notes mention new artisan iLvl 60 gear. I'll be interested in what the stats will be, and what the pieces will look like.

Unless i missed it, i see all new artisan and forager clothing items except artisan body piece.
They are probably be a bit better than the fully melded we have now. The look tho, i wonder... Something similar to Cid`s gear?
i admit im a little worried on the look since the artisan feet item is called sandals lol
Well, here's the big question - will they have materia slots? If so, dang, prices are going to skyrocket for months. If they don't, then prices will plummet to nothing. My bet is on them having slots, and, fully melded, being only slightly better than the class-specific i55s. Wonderful for not eating up armory chest space, but not actually really a step up. Maybe 3-6 craftsmanship or control increase total. Let's see what the truth is!
At least they appear to be "one piece fits all" instead of needing to meld 8 sets of gear. So that's something. However, if we use the artisan spectacles and ehcatl smithing gloves as examples... maybe they won't be so great.
The spectacles were an across-the-board upgrade. I think it wound up being a few control, right? That's it?
The gloves were 4 control upgrade for loss of 3CP (on fully melded i55).
Both have no melding slots.
And these are supposedly only i60? Might not be an upgrade at all.
It seems that the new requires the new beast men mats and if I'm reading those right it takes 8 coins to get 1 and you need 3 for each piece of new gear. So it would take 4 days doing beast men dailies to make 1 piece. I pray to the twelve that's a typo.
Except for secondary weapons, i think they will be a little lower than fully melded i55 items. (and no meld on Forager items) I bet it's only a catch-up item.
I wouldn't trust the preliminary patch notes to be the gospel. I remember when philo mats were gonna cost 1k GC seals each and you would be able to buy them with the lowest GC rank.
They forgot to include the artisan body, I'm sure we'll have one.
Finally got around to making my shopping list and tabulating totals (not like there's anything to buy on the MB now, but eh). The sheer amounts of mats you will need to make all the new DoL/DoH gear is staggering, to say the least.
Just looking at the big mats, you will need:
Mastercraft Demimateria x7
Platinum Nugget x7 (Platinum Ore x21)
Ehcatl Sealant x81(If it really is 8 oaknots per 1 sealant, then that is 648 oaknots, or 3 months of dailies!!!)
Ancient Lumber x2
Wolfram Ingot x8
Treated Spruce Lumber x8 (Hardened Sap x 72!)
Darksteel Ingot x2 (Coke x18)
Rose gold Ingot x1 (Peacock Ore x9)
Hard Hippogryph Leather x3 (Animal Fat x27)
Vanya Silk x3 (Potash x27)
So grand total of 10 myth mats and 153(!) seal mats. If you choose to not buy these through the MB, that's either 465,750 GC seals or 147 oaknots. Have fun.
And of course, this does not take into account the requirements for the new books...which are looking to be even more absurd with HQ 3-star tokens needing 9000 quality and FCIII's to make.
I'm pretty sure you can get the new crafter gear without the new books, yoshi said you'll need the new gear for crafting the 110 stuff, which would make it pointless if the recipes would be in the 3rd book
gear your crafter with full melded ilvl 60/70 -> craft the HQ tokens with the new gear + stats -> craft ilvl 110 stuff with the new book -> profit
for all us builders of the realm this is going to be another mad grind... but atleast for the early adapters we should make our gil back quik enough.
I think they missed body piece to preserve the visual difference between crafting classes. If they would add a unified body piece it would be pretty much rediculous.
You can still glamour it
so you complain that theres no visual difference with just 1 armor, but you also dont want to have one armor per cls?
Doesn't it just make the glamour not take effect if the class/ job is wrong? Like glamouring the MIN shirt to the forgaer's shirt would make you MIN appear to wear the class specific ilvl 55 shirt, while your BOT/ FSH would appear to be wearing the forager's shirt unglamoured? I've never tried doing this, but I thought that was how it worked.
You are correct. If you glamour an item that only certain jobs can wear onto an item that other jobs can wear only the jobs that can wear the first item will appear with the glamour.
Wow that's a confusing sentence.
Example
Base item Daystar Robe (WHM/CNJ/SCH equipable)
Glamour item Cleric's Robe (WHM)
Result is you will see the Cleric's Robe when a WHM and the Daystar robe when a SCH.
