Why not separate Raid Lockouts and Tomestone Caps?

Can somebody please come up with a logical argument against separating Tomestone caps and Raid lockouts (by job)?

By this I mean allow people to do coil/obtain CT loot once per week PER JOB instead just once PERIOD. As well as having each job have its own tomestone count (not to be shared between jobs) so that we can potentially gear out as many classes as we want if we have the time.

It would be nice to be able to experience all the new content coming out on multiple jobs while still being able to commit to a static raid group that requires me to be on a single job.

They are supposed to be easing up on the coil lockout somehow in 2.45 I believe. Something about you can repeat previous turns but having people that have previously cleared for the week reduces the chance of items dropping, and I'm assuming a full party of people that have won for the week means nothing drops.

As far as gearing up with stones it's just up to you to prioritize. I try to beeline for the stuff that will very likely be BiS and spread it around the 3 jobs I try to play the most.

Please just remove it fast. RNG is already bad (I hate when people say it is fine the way it is because they are luckier other people, just put them in those unlucky people situation and we can see them crying out loud), lockout is more than bad.

The obvious reason is to drag out the grind and keep players busy. It sucks from a players perspective but I've seen how fast other MMO populations died down without grinds and time-sinks in their endgame.

It's a stick and carrot, albeit a horribly hidden one, to keep players subscribed and grinding. That's all. The game is lacking in content so they make up for it with lock-outs to prevent you from finishing everything in one week.

It keeps you coming back. Not for yourself but for everyone else. Instead of having most people get every piece they need within 6-8 weeks for all classes, they stretch it out incase people like the ones below, who claim they've been hit by the darkside of RNG, will have people continuously running with them.

Otherwise, the instant we lift limits and lock outs. You better hope your on the good side of RNG cause in 6-8 weeks, you won't have anyone to run anything with.

No it's not.
Right now gearing an alt is only possible after you're done gearing your main. Yet if you flat out create a new character you can gear both at the same time.
It would also give more stuff for people to do instead of running coil once a week then logout until next tuesday

This is how they keep you til 3.0 when they will inevitably ease up on all lockouts, perhaps 72 hour lockouts instead of one week,

Tomestone cap and Raid lockout are not linked together.

You can't build the game around the hardcore raiders because its impossible to generate enough content FAST enough for those people. Making an alt char is a choice. There's no need to be i130 on all classes in a month when it's fairly reasonable that i115 will get any Job through Coil viably. Pick a favorite or two and gear them to the teeth for optimal raiding and your alt Jobs will still be viable just not "perfect". This community has a bad case of "have my cake and eat it too" syndrome.

You could funnel all the tome stones to purchase things for only one role if they keep it as is. i.e Accessories can be worn by any class. Plus, the recent sets are shared by multiple classes making it even easier.

Rowena weapon tokens are universal, so you could stockpile those, too.

They would have to redo the entire purchasing system to only buy the class you are on to implement a class specific tome allocation.

This. One of the biggest advantages and unique systems FFXIV has going for it over other MMOs (except XI if you count it) is that you can play multiple classes all on one character. Except in practice you actually cannot do this. Due to weekly lockouts and caps every single player has a "main job" and then a bunch of secondary ones they sometimes screw around on.

I think lockout seperated by Role would be appropriate

Tome-cap keep as-is IF above is done.

I MAIN DRG but I can perfectly viably tank AND heal end game content despite my tank and healer Jobs being below my DRG in ilevel. My SCH and WAR/PLD aren't just for "screwing around". You 'main" one class and if you handle your tomestones and Coil drops right you have multiple other classes you can viable bring to raid content if someone in your group is absent. Unless you have no life you can only reasonably carry one alt char or MAYBE two anyways if you're lucky with Coil statics.

I don't even know why you're arguing against this. You can already have separate lockout for your alt. all you need to do is create a new character. All we want is to have the same benifit but without having to create a new character. There's no reason to be against this other than being jealous someone can gear their alt faster than you.
And even that would be a pretty stupid reason to be against it

It should've been the same system ST runs with. Got an item for the week from that turn? Nothing else for the week from there. That way, can run it as many times as you want until you get your item.

I know almost NO ONE who actually runs an alt character and several of the ones I DO know don't do it for this reason at all but just for variety rather than burning Fantasias. The majority are quite happy. The only ones crying for this are the hardcore raiders and they are the same ones who will be whining on this forum 3 months earlier than normal because they've been running Coil 5+ times a week and have geared out all their Roles in a month. In the 6 months between each coil tier you currently have enough time to full 110 about 2-3 class(login 1-2 hours a week) because of the lockout. After the first month, people are already complaining there's nothing to do because coil is already cleared on tuesday and you cannot do anything with your alt because everything is locked out until next tuesday. Allowing people to run 10 time a week if they have all 10 class at 50 will give everyone more content to play with no matter how you look at it.

do you know why people play alts in other games? because they are done with their main for the week. this game don't give you that option if you don't make a new character. The fact that you are against it and your only excuse is "hur dur people will burn through the content faster" is really stupid

Let's be realistic here, this is something people have been whining about since September 2013 and nothing has happened to change it yet. That's over a year, people. The abolition of this system isn't going to happen anywhere in the 2.xx series. Try again in 3.0+

I agree with this, and I had the lowest drop rate for job gear in secnod coil of everyone else in static. MNK hat and earrings only decided to drop a couple a weeks ago from turn 6, MNK fists 2 weeks ago. But, due to soldiery gear was able to gear up for coil every week, getting BiS drops was just icing. Plus someone is gearing up with coil drops in party, which is, overall good for the party.

This topic has already been discussed before, which means the solution is still the same: make a 2nd character. SE has no reason to change anything or even respond when the solution to the problem is already OBVIOUS, well known, and simple.
