So basically we're going to be dealing with a new OS immediately after the FFXIV patch is released.

Who wants to bet we won't be online until either late on the 28th or the 29th?

If people are wanting to buy housing and are using a PS4, I'd HIGHLY suggest getting a friend to buy it for you.

Shit. Already made plans to get someone's ninja to fifty as a tank for 10 million Gil.

It's on OS update. They tend to be painless upgrades that take a few minutes to apply. Not a PSN maint. So don't see what the prob would be.

This is where I'd make a "PC Master Race" comment, but I don't want to get eaten.

Hmm... so the PS4 names it's version updates? Interesting. Oh, just to let you know, it's just a version update. PS3 gets these alot and, you know what, nothing happens (except for the version update that killed Other OS, that was a thing). Keep Calm and Play On

True, but it seems that this update is a bit more than the typical one (whole version number and all). Hopefully there aren't any bugs in it, and the PSN servers aren't overloaded with people attempting to download it. In either case, PS4 users should be made aware of this and make plans for if they can't get back on.

But as said PS3/PS4 updates tend to be much less painful than Windows driver updates, windows updates, adobe updates, java updates, etc....

This is PS4's biggest update yet adding quite a few new features, we can only hope it goes smoothly.

I probably wouldn't worry too much. When has SE completed an update when it says its going to anyways? Its already been moved once. Probably will again. Followed by numerous "world recovery" and emergency update" messages. PS4 update will probably be done with before SE is anyways.The PS4 update though being a block point change will take longer than a mid point update, but probably won't take long to download, as they never do. SE's however will probably take an hour or more.

I wouldn't worry about the housing thing because chances are when servers go live they be full price ie. Tens of millions for just a small

Think he meant he's going to be the tank helping someone get to 50 on Ninja.... since tanks and healers are going to pretty much be extinct for a while with 95% of the playerbase going Ninja.

For 10m Gil.... I'd gladly help someone else get to 50.

PSN isn't down for maintenance on days they release a new firmware update...

As many have said, there is no reason to worry about this.

PSN won't be down though. Just downlad the update, install and you're good to go. Even better: Have it on standby with the automatic updates enabled.

Firmware updates happen all the time, hell PS3 has one almost once a week it seems like. >.>

Just leave your PS4 on standby on Monday night and depending when they push the upgrade most likely your PS4 will have already downloaded and installed the upgrade by the time FFXIV is back up.
