The obligatory comparison with this game and World of Warcraft would note that in the new expansion for WoW, all normal raids are being turned into "Flex Raids," which means you can take anywhere from 10-25 people, and the raid scales with how many people there are. Obviously you cannot simply add flex raiding to old content (imagine 24 man turn 7!), but you can design new raids with that system in mind. Please consider creating the normal tier of raids to be flexible, so that we aren't restricted to a hard 8 person cap! My personal belief, is that while flex raids tend to be more difficult to balance, it is outweighed by the ability to play with your friends, regardless of your group's size.

As an avid player of Everquest, Dark Age Of Camelot, Anarchy Online, Runescape, Final Fantasy XI, Final Fantasy XI-2, World of Warcraft, World of Warhammer, SWTOR, RIFT, Wildstar, World of Warcraft, and Wakfu I honestly believe such a feature should be implemented

I'm not sure how you'd make this work with the Duty Finder. Would you queue for whichever raid size you wanted or would the DF version be fixed at whatever size is the "base" size for that raid? Flexible instances were used in FFXI in a few places like ENMs and Assaults, and things like Dynamis had a window for group size but didn't scale anything based on that. The deterrent to going in with max group in Dyna was simply a dilution of the drops across more players. With things like ENMs and moreso the current Delve, Skirmish and Incursion content, the "flex" simply amounted to a pile of extra trash monsters and some beefed up NMs which only lends itself to "flexing" your team by adding more DPS. This could damage role balance quite a bit for tanks and healers. Plus extra trash leans teams towards more AoE based DPS (BLM BRD). -

This has already been in discussion and already has a base in Frontlines PVP (sometimes you go in with less than 72 ppl). They said that some older content/dungeons ect. would possibly become soloable as less people queue for them. Scaling the amount of monsters, and HP is already in the game as well for FATES, so I'm sure they could incorporate it for dungeons or old Raids like CT ........ I'm sure this will eventually come.

While this sounds like a decent idea, I feel like if it is used for new content, those new raids would need much bigger boss arenas to handle more bodies. As it is now, you couldn't have more people in current 8-man content and still clear unless everyone was playing perfectly... extra people on Titan Ex or Turn 9 would be hilarious - and terrifying.

Support. And you CAN scale it with old contents, but with some limits. Dungeons can be scaled down to half/double their size, which means 4 -> 2-8, 8 -> 4-16.
For people saying this will dumb down old content, are you actually serious? First of all, you can easily put a limitation so there won't be 72 people in Titan. But more importantly, do you actually want Titan scaling so hard that if you get hit by one plume it's an automatic KO?!? I would rather do Titan normally than have Titan so powerful he kills me with any hit. -

are you kidding me flex raids are between 10-25, and FF14 coils raids are 8 man. coil is only 2 man bigger then some games group content.

flexible raids didn't work that well in wow in the first place, most ppl refused to go with more ppl than a fixed number to avoid the increase in targets hit by some mechanics
