Is Archanist going to play like Emperor/Palamecia?

Set traps then cast magics to lure the enemy into them. I could never Play Palamecia in Dissidia, I could never defeat anyone but Exdeath with him, But he was still a hard person to fight when you were against someone who knew how to use use him.

the way the help text in the dats reads the best equivalent i can think of in terms of play style would be WoW's Shaman.

Setting up fields that can help your party and others that can hurt or enfeeble your enemy.

Just cast flare over and over like most cheapos and computer players when playing as the Emperor.

I guess you mean totems but shaman had zero traps. And would suck if this next mage class could also heal along with the other 2 current ones.

why cant we have that combat system in FFXIV ?

Sorry to say it, I never played WoW but in previous articles they said "totem wielding class" and i was like EW shaman. haha so i totally agree with you.

Then we'd all be flying around everywhere and all the high-level enemies will read our inputs and block/dodge EVERYTHING then counter and kill you in 2 seconds =P

There's a lot of unimplemented stuff people have dug up that sound really fun to play. I read some and Arcanist sounded fun, so did all the unimplemented pugilist things (I picked pugilist because of them, only to find out they weren't in the game ;;).

Info on Arcanist is extremely old, I remember people digging around in the dats and finding more info on Arcanist than most other classes really.

Wow nice. I would definitely play archanist given the chance. I wonder what kind of jobs would stem off from it. though speculation is kinda meh...

No dude, you sit in the corner and spam the crap out of mines and shock traps, then spam Starfall.

Yea from the dat info it does indeed sound like it has a very interesting and active play style. one that i would love to play around with. Don't get me wrong xiv's style of active mage is very fun. archanist sound more up my ally though.

He's also the easiest to KO bots with. They will literally sit in his floor-shock trap.
