Oh Dragonball,
What a good series.
If only it was funny.
Eh, the reference itself is better than none at all I suppose.
Not funny by any means, but noteworthy for fans of the series.
Of course it isn't funny if you aren't a fan of DBZ...
Still, you've gotta give them props. I hope to see more obscure references like this pop up.
Ah yes, read it the other day. A subtle reference, but a good one.
Am I the only one that sees that after 1.18 the dialog and options got a little more...casual? For example in the Garlean invasion events you don't have the "Yes/No" (I'll participate) option, instead you got things like "Err...I have to do something".
I actually find the change for the better.
This might have been funny about 4 years ago and even then you would have had to have given me a few drinks first.
That's a win :D
The game is probably filled with "pop"-culture references. I know there's a Star Wars reference in the Gridania storyline.
Half of FFXII is a Star Wars reference.
That's pretty funny. :)
I don't watch the English versions very much, so I didn't catch that one.
There's a lot of funny references in the quest material.
For Japanese user out there, is that scene sounds alike in Japanese?
I thought it was funny but you know three people say its not funny and they must be experts on comedy right? I hate people this game just makes me realize it more and more.
I was always a fan of the THM storyline, there is a scene where an NPC recites a few lines from the Modest Mouse song "Ocean Breathes Salty." This was before Yoshi took over too lol.
I dig pop culture references, makes it a bit more lighthearted.
That's because it has nothing to do with the development team. You can thank what is pretty much the best localization team around for this and most other humorous text. Beyond the humor they do a phenomenal job carrying over ideas from the Japanese text in general.
Not sure if it has many or any of the same people involved, but FFXI also had awesome localizations. From the humor that went into the "smilebringers" dialogue to the clever translations of things like Scholar job abilities, they did work that impressed me every time I switched between the Japanese and English versions of the game.
Normally people like this would be busy translating literature, but I'm glad we have them working on our entertainment.
