Can we have an openworld Minimap for navigating the Airship?

I know FF14 does not offer an openworld instead its connected via loading screens one to an other.


But i would love the idea personally to have a wide distant stylized open world 3D Minimap to navigate my personal FC airship?

It really depends how interactive they wish to make the airship experience. IMO if they want to add exploration and make it a random/open ended experience, their best bet would be to have a sky map with grid based exploration and the airships built to uncover the areas would be outfitted with unique abilities based on how they were made.

They could integrate a 4-8 man party system via setting roles as positions on the ship, 2 pilots, 2 repairers/support and 4 damage dealer (cannons guns etc)

They could integrate the current treasure map system into the airship system and allow a means to find random treasure within the sky or maybe even hidden locations that only reveal themselves when certain requirements are met and maybe disappear after a set amount of time.

I really am just hoping they nail it with the gameplay aspect of airship cause it would be disappointing if all they do with is is "build airship" "now you can go to sky continent" with no meat behind what you can actually do with the airship.

Well the focus of this expansion is "sky" "Multiple heavens" "Airships", This is a crucial part of the expansion to be a mere instance space. "Airships Galore" makes it sound like we will be flying an airship and seeing other airships that other people are operating.

The FC Will have to help build your airship, but you can fly around your own airship. Naturally there will be a FC based airship where you can all travel to your destination as well ( I hope).

I am 99% sure you can free roam with the airships.

I hope it's like that, similar to the zone used for airship travel in XI. Personally I think it'd be great if it worked kind of like the overworld for Skies of Arcadia, too.

I wish this game had one huge open world, would be so easy implementing airships. Not instanced but actually seeing people below running around.

It will probably be "Bring up a map, Click destination, POOF! You are there." its the route SE has taken since FFX and i'm quite dissappointed but I doubt they will change anything for this one... Sad to say.

I think it would be a mix.
Flying around in a own zone, but can only land at specific locations (I think this was also planned at the start of 1.0, with all the landing docks standing around in the world).
On the ship you would see down to Eorzea like you can see down to the lower Limsa Lominsa while standing in the upper Limsa Lominsa.

Yep, I see it going something like this:

1) Activate Airship-----> CS
2) CS----> Driving the Airship to areas you can get to ( ARR/Heavensward Locations).
3) While Airborne there could be "White dots" with the name above it, If that is where you going, you "Target the white dot" and hit confirm to land.
4) CS again for landing.

That's how I see them doing it.

the question is also how to make the airship ride attractive.. i mean everybody can teleport from here and there.
Maybe if these "flying Isles" in "Heavensward" just being accessable by flight..

but who knows.

From a lore standpoint, north of the Spine is sparsely populated by friendly people, and I'm guessing the Aethernet system isn't going to be as prominent in the outlands. Dravanian Forelands are already supposed to be WAY bigger than any zone we've had in the game so far, so maybe an airship will be the new "taxi" system :P
