I admit I got kind of burned out with this game...anything new since I stopped playing in late July? Thanks.
2.3, 2.35 and 2.38 came ingame
new housing that people complain about
next stage in relics that people complain about
new primal that people complain about...
2.4 on the horizon for people to complain about....please look forward to it.
Questionable decision from SE regarding private housing set the forums on fire for sometime.
Other then that, not much.
Um....nothing new with the game after a year to be honest. If you played since launch and only burned out around last July, you know what to expect. You're best to wait till the expansion for something NEW to happen with this game. 2.4 is coming but the only thing to be honest is Rogue and Ninja, but..the same content as since 2.0's launch.
If you don't classify new primal battles, new dungeons, and new raids as 'new' then what on earth do you classify as 'new'? It'll have exactly the same setup with the expansion ... except it'll have jobs added. By your logic, there's no point in playing the game at all, since whatever is 'new' to you isn't really 'new.'
So tell me Mr Merylx, which new region does Ramuh and Shiva take place in?
They're new instances - However it's the same format as 2.0, hence waiting till 3.0 when they said the design direction will actually change, including changes to the battle/armory system.Quote:
new dungeons, and new raids as 'new'
After a year most MMORPGs have expanded beyond what was existing at launch, expanded in ways that there's actual new regions or actual tiers of raids. The update format of XIV only gives us 1 casual raid that's done to keep us busy until the next update, then 1 end-game raid. So what's "new to me"? Actually expanding the borders of the world, which is why the OP emphasized "NEW". They can throw in a Hyper-Potion of Strength and you can consider that "new content" but not necessarily anything new with the game in terms of design.Quote:
'new' to you isn't really 'new.'
By your logic SE can throw in 70 copies of the level 30 range Temple of Qarn that's exactly the same with a different end-boss and you'd consider that brand new content and a brand new format. There's no point in playing a game if you don't feel like it - However when you wonder what's new in that short time frame? Basically nothing, the game didn't fundamentally change at all.Quote:
By your logic
This is where you'd look at the context of the content we're given. Ramuh and Levi being added wouldn't be comparable to "70 copies of the level 30 range Temple of Corn that's exactly the same..." The latter isn't new or exciting, it's being lazy and literally rehashing old content. Ramuh and Levi play out differently than the previous primals in a different setting. If you don't consider that to be "new", then I can't really change your mind on that, but I have to contest your last statement because it's a pretty absurd example that doesn't really apply to what we received.
Granted though, I can attest that the content we have received recently (hunts, "personal housing", among other things) is disappointing to put it lightly.
I think the OP was asking more what have been added to the game time he was away. Not what you or me think is "New" else OP would have say I consider "New" , zone , job , raids(other than the one we already have or continuation of those).
You aren't in the shoes of OP to say what he mean by "New" or not.
What have been added is : Ixal Beast Tribe , nexus for main stuff if you have been here when 2.3 have been released else i would advice you to go to patch where you have all patch and check the detail of them.
@ RiceisNice & Merylx:
That is not new content, just standard updates of the already existing content, new contents are, hunts, housings, treasure hunts, beast tribe quests, frontlines... content that enhances the playability of the game, if you get burned it's just because the game is based on completing instances to develop your character, dungeons, primals and raids, and i can tell you a new instance will only give you 1-4 fun runs, then the repetition starts again, and well if you do coil it will make you log once a week.
If there's something new and interesting from the last and the upcoming update is the story and side quests.
Wait until the expansion. 2.4 is looking a lot like 2.2 right now.
Honestly there isn't anything new. Same kinds of Primal fights, same kinds of dungeons, same kinds of raids and then they keep throwing out "reasons" why we should re-hash the same stuff by putting a carrot on a stick in front of grinding out old stuff in the form of a new shiny weapon.
2.4 offers a new class but let's be honest that's not going to change the game at all, that and since the whole community is STARVED for something new and interesting to happen there's going to be a massive chunk of the playerbase doing ninja. Frankly the expansion better do a good job of changing things up and making it interesting.
Absolutely nothing is new with this game.
You still push buttons to do things to spend time. It' a complete waste of time from start to finish. You accomplish nothing productive in the entire course of the gameplay.
I mean, its almost like the designers made something designed intentionally to pass the time with.
Sorry for the long post, I know I was being a bit specific there.
I am glad they got rid of all the primal fights and added in Revenge of the Bad Espers. It's a lot more engaging. There's a new fire, earth and wind esper to fight. Then they added a water and lighting one too. Much better than when they were just adding new Primals.
