I'd like to get the bear and lion mounts but the problem is - I don't play tanks.
I was wondering, would it still count if I spam guild heists in a tank role, or does it have to be a dungeon?

If I remember correctly, it has to be dungeons.
Isn't it extreme primals / coil that adds to the achievement? or has that been changed?
The bear/lion requirements still only include Extreme primals and Coil (sans T3).
Fastest way to do them now is joining a Nexus pt for T4, you can do about 15 runs/hour, still a long grind tho.
Oh wow, not even HM primals count towards this? The requirements are pretty harsh.
It's a reward for people who play a in-demand role in high-end content, it's there as an incentive and if you don't do it then it isn't for you.
You could do Coil Turn 1's even if you're not an avid tanker which right now is arguably easier than probably Titan HM since you get 20% echo at the start. Could do maybe 8/hour depending on your group. But yeah, Coil Turn 4 if you can learn the fight is probably the fastest.
After I get my Frontlines mount I probably will develop some sort of grind strategy for those, like doing 10/day etc.
Believe the devs have even said the instances that count will change over time to always be the harder 8 content, so eventually the early EX primals will no longer count. Hoping T4 still counts in 2.4....
To be honest, I think Low Level roulette should be included in the achievement requirements. Tanks are missing there as much as they are in endgame.
I got my bear finally over the weekend, and I've been a tank since 2.1. Reason it took so long is all those Ex Primal runs before the mounts were added didn't count :(
Time to grins my lion out now.
And I do feel it's fair to reward those doing the end-all content rather than just whatever (Coil1 will probably be removed from the requirements with 2.4 IMO)
Tanks are in demand and many other classes aren't. If Tanks were more common it wouldn't be fair. Until then it's an incentive. Also, no there is no wyvern mount planned that they've announced. Probably because DRG isn't in demand, and it wouldn't even make sense in the dragoon story line.
i do agree with you i'm a monk yet no mount i was a summoner yet no mount scholar nope white mage ok fine we got a unicorn black mage nope dragoon nope, and yet even with this reward dangling in your face, most just team up with friends and spam T4 or T2 or T1, or even garuda EX. while tanks are still sorely needed in guild heists low level roulettes trials (i have waited more then 40 mins for 1 tank) and main sinario, the enticement has only forced some if not most be more elitist so they can get there mount with the smallest amount of effort, while the rest of the classes (bar white mage) get no such reward, if they wanted it to be fair each class would have a mirror of this achievements and mounts.
It's not intended to be fair. It's intended to help convince players to fulfill roles that are short so you dps can get into queues for coil and primals. Giving dps mounts would only add to the trouble as many would be attempting to grind out all the dps mounts. Believe me, we don't need more dragoons
DPS don't need extra incentive to do them, though. It's not exactly an in-demand role. Tanking is typically a more involved role (as is healing, I'll agree that healers could use some extra incentive). I know when I put up a PF for anything, typically the DPS are the first slots to fill up and then we sit around waiting for tanks and/or healers.
Gear up a tank enough to run T1, T2, T4, and Levi EX. A paladin in my FC decided to skip atma and just farmed Levi EX for the sword. I think he did probably around 50 runs before it dropped. That's 25% towards his lion. A good party can clear Levi EX in like 10 minutes, maybe less. And if you take the head instead of the tail, you've got the easy part.
Think of it this way (not exact numbers just making a point. You have 100 tanks, 500 healers, and 20,000 dps. They all do their Primals and don't do them again....you still have a lot of dos without tanks and healers. The incentives fixes this by encouraging those fewer roles to come back for the dps who want in.
Become a tank/healer today and fight the good fight!
Do you honestly think ---- when you stop playing as dps in ex primals ---- because you poor little snowflake don't get a mount --- anybody would notice a change?
The amount to tank might be a bit insane. Yes. And reward for doing low level dungeons for tanking? :x
Yeah maybe 10 teleport vouchers.
There is no need for incentive for DPS to do Ex Primals. If you, as a DPS, choose to sit out an Ex Primal, there's a dozen or more DPS eager to take your place. If a tank decides to sit out Ex Primals, that's another half hour or more added to the queue for the DPS and healers waiting in line. Tanks need enticement to repeat content they've already cleared and no longer need. DPS do not.
As for never touching them again, that may be true for you - but by the time you've cleared two hundred fights, you're very likely at least slightly competent as a tank. Instant queue times can be a pretty hefty temptation to tank again, unless you absolutely can't stand the role. Need some Tomestones? Queue up for Roulette as a DPS and wait thirty minutes or more just to get into the dungeon, or hop on your Tank and get in in under five seconds?
A player who has earned one or more tank special mounts has put a lot of effort into tankery. Some will leave it behind forever at that point, but most, I think, will be willing to tank again.
My Wife has like 9/XXX on this achievement. We do content to complete it not to do it till we are sick of it.
I don't think I'll ever go after those, warbear is alright, but warlion... what's wrong with his eyes?! And the fur looks so unnatural, whoever designed it has pretty weird (bad) taste.
I do agree with the person in the previous page, low level needs more tanks than end-game, people who main tank will do end-game trials/raids even if there's no incentive, as this is a progression game.
I guess she just isn't dedicated enough then. She doesn't deserve the mount. The entire point was to reward tanks for sticking it out and putting some time into the class. Not for beating a fight once.
It took me only 2 months to earn my bear. Only the last 27 fights were farmed because I wanted to finish it. The rest were helping people with coil1 and ex primals. It wasn't that hard.
